Great.. I'm heavily invested in yet another map.
If this change borks our SMP map, I might just give up.
Final was supposed to mean we could go ahead and build without fear of map-breaking changes.
Guess time will tell.

Ps, if you a little troll kid and you want to 'dis' me for this, be my guest! I'm 28, I drive, stay up late and play with girls boobs... I doubt your words will make much difference! haha
Age does not matter. Neither does driving or having sex.
What matters is maturity. This is not mature.
Anyway to reply to the OP, It's the new world generation. It is just not, Minecrafty. -

Send a child to church is abusive, but that is beside the point.
Your argument from authority is invalid, though the majority of these replies to this thread are rooted in the fallacy of argument from final consequences.
Point remains that while the OP's parents sound like a bunch of luddite fools, we, as ignorant spectators, neither have the complete story, nor any ability to impact the situation in any meaningful way.
What the OP could take away from this is an opportunity to learn skills to bypass his parents, if he has the wit. I cut my teeth at age 10 learning C, so that I could write a keylogger to obtain their dialup password. -

Anyway, I'm not upset witch Notch's poor coding abilities. I'm annoyed that he took our $50 million+ and then spent half the year on vacation, then rushed to add incomplete, buggy features before MineCon with the promise that he'll totally fix it all later. Yeah, sure. -

Chuck_Borris posted a message on Why Silk Touch is idiotic, and should be removed from the game.Posted in: 1.0 Update DiscussionQuote from assassin10
I see two problems with your post.
1) Randomized loot quantities are never used when crafting. So with the current game mechanics you couldn't put an item into the crafting grid and get a random amount of a different item back. Thus, as it is currently being suggested, this wouldn't work with redstone and lapis lazuli. (And Glowstone)
2) This would interfere with the Fortune Enchant so much that it would have to be removed. You are pretty much saying take all the blocks the Fortune effects and either make it not work on them, or work in such a way that it could be easily exploited. Do you really want to get rid of half of the 4 tool enchants?
the OP isn't saying to get rid of any enchantments except for silk-touch.
It's stupid that if you want to collect mycellium (lets face it... its grey dirt guys), or an ice block etc. you need a magic pickaxe to collect basic materials. if the eskimos were able to collect enough ice blocks with stone & bone tools to build houses - i'm fairly certain the concept of needing a magic pickaxe to do so is retarded.
Also the OP made a suggestion in the right direction - he doesn't work for Notch and isn't coding minecraft. He is simply making the point that silk-touch is silly. Its then Notch's and whoever's job to make it work correctly in a logical way.
Personally I would be fine with silk-touch if you needed it to, lets say... collect a fire block - ya know, to maybe make that chain-mail we can't. That you could use a magic pickaxe for - to collect something (fire block) that is logically unattainable that can be used to make some powerful armour that is at the moment impossible to make. A fire block would be worthy of... say, a magic pickaxe - not grey dirt or ice. (this is an example - not a serious suggestion)
Having to use a magic pickaxe to collect ores, dirt, ice blocks etc. is exactly what normal pickaxes are made for. Its just doesn't make sense logically, or game-play wise.
and for all you "its not suppose to be logical/make sense" - if i have a "magic pickaxe" i want there to be something magic about it. Theres no magic in scooping grey dirt, ice, and grass... SHeeesszzz. -

scrubking posted a message on Why Silk Touch is idiotic, and should be removed from the game.Tools should be used to craft, collect everything. Enchanting is stupid and broken enough we shouldn't have to depend on it to collect basic crafting blocks. (Notch is a retard).Posted in: 1.0 Update Discussion
This is the way it should be.
Shovel
- dirt
- sand
- gravel
- snow
Hoe
- grass
- mycelium
Axe
- wood
- giant mushroom
- ice
pickaxe
- bricks
- stone
- etc
Everything else you should be able to get by hand -

Pilot posted a message on Will 1.9 Finalize the new terrain generation?I agree that this is a very serious issue.Posted in: 1.0 Update Discussion
I am an admin on a server that has been down for 1 month for modifications, and for a new map.
It would be great to know if we will have to reset the map again, so we don't have to go about resetting the map again after 1.9.
I don't want to have players playing on a 1.9 map and saying for the 3rd time "It's time to loose your stuff and start a new world again!". It isn't good "Business" for a server. No one wants a server that's map changes every few weeks. A lot of servers are in a state where no one wants to build much of anything, because they KNOW their map will be reset soon enough. If we had a bit of communication from notch, many servers would have less of a problem.
I also agree with your kiddie servers statement. I know someone who runs one, and he resets the map once every 1 to 3 days. It gets VERY annoying to everyone, but he doesn't seem to care one bit. -

XMdead posted a message on Will 1.9 Finalize the new terrain generation?Summarizing the issue:Posted in: 1.0 Update Discussion
- Small terrain generation changes are easily absorbed without creating a new world, and it was the norm before 1.8.
- In 1.8 and 1.9 we saw massive changes that pretty much forced us to recreate the world in order to get the full benefits from the upgrade.
- For some people full world recreation is no big deal. But for those who play minecraft because they enjoy creating significant and attractive structures... world resets are devastating. Popular servers die out if world migration is not handled "just right".
- The 1.8/1.9 rate of change has eroded players trust in Mojang's ability to improve the game without ruining past work.
If I remember right, Notch announced that a couple weeks from now we go into a code freeze with only bug-fixes for a month... and then we get the first official release.
So, the real question is how "non-destructively" will Mojang handle updates to Minecraft after the full release.
They may not realize it, but their reputation as a professional gaming outfit and possibly even their profitability depends on how they handle the issue. Of course, once Minecraft is released on the XBox... Microsoft's name and reputation will be associated with Minecraft, and I seriously doubt that Microsoft will allow Mojang to do any more massive and destructive changes.
In other words... I expect updates to have significant nasty consequences for the next couple of weeks, but I'm optimistic about what we'll see after that. - To post a comment, please login.

Full CTM Ore Blocks! This Tweak pack will include full standard CTM for Gold, Emerald, Lapis, Redstone and Iron Blocks. Coal blocks may be considered too, that's up in the air right now. Depends on how the CTM turns out!
Early Draft of CTM Gold Blocks:

Acacia and Dark Oak Logs, Planks and Leaves added. Also Red Sand and Packed Ice!
Enjoy!

Hrm, it could be because it's overriding files 1:1, what i mean by that is, it's probably *not* finding the .properies file in the pack on top, so it's using the old one's on bottom (and thus, picking up all it's textures).
Only reason I think it may be that is I am currently working on a "Gridless" glass patch pack for my pack, and it's working fine. But this is what I think might be happening in your pack (or something like it):
Base Pack -> CTM'ed Block
Overlayed Pack -> Block replaced with a non-CTM texture
Base Pack -> Still only copy of that .properties file containing the CTM specs, parses and overrides the Overlayed Pack's textures with it's CTM.
Overlayed Pack -> Ignored because the Base Pack's CTM took over.
Try maybe putting a blank .properties file in it's place in the Overlayed pack, maybe Minecraft will load the blank one instead, and MCPatcher will ignore it... thus, giving you the correct texture?
My pack is working fine with CTM textures, but the patch pack I am working on replacing one CTM'ed glass with an identical CTM'ed glass, just with different textures.
I have no idea how your pack is setup, so I'm just taking a total shot-in-the-dark guess, but it sounds like that's what is happening.
PS: Nice textures.

You're kidding right? Your entire pack is stolen, except maybe a few textures I can't identify.
Even your screenshots are wrong, you show the stolen FaithfulVenom cobble in your last shot, but the pack actually uses a stolen Misa texture.
Shoo thief... *grabs broom and bats it around*

It's highly recommended you install MCPatcher anyway, just to cover your bases and make sure you're getting everything from your pack. It only takes a second to install, it would be stupid not to.

- Stained Glass Added!
- Original Glass Improved
- Officially 1.7 Compatible
KNOWN ISSUES: (NOTE: These are due to MCPatcher, and will re resolved as MCPatcher updates to 1.7. For now, we'll just have to put up with them!)
- Glass Panes are solid.
- CTM is acting strange, placing borders where they do not belong.

Programmers who release crap code should be criticized for it, how else will they learn? I *am* a programmer, and I welcome critical feedback. If I do idiotic and game breaking code, I want to know.
Same goes for my resource pack, if I ruin it, I want people to yell at my for it.
Mojang totally botched the render engine, the need to be told they screwed up.
6
(you will need to zoom in)
...now I get this. Look at those glorious trees!
Mojang didnt just mess up a little bit, they totally botched it. How did this garbage even make it as a release?

Thank you for reporting my original not really inflammatory post, then insulting me afterwards. That's was very rude. :/
My apparently horrible insult about your download count aside, if you want to be taken seriously as a artist you should make a pack with actual content. All you are doing is taking a default texture and throwing a color shift on it. It's really not all that hard of work.
But I'm unsure of your goals at this point, the way you have responded, being subtly insulting to a lot of us *and* decided to report me for saying something a lot less insulting than what you're telling us, makes me think you're just a kid trolling us and you don't want any actual feedback.
So, good day to you.
