All it is is a secure network, and totally useless for Minecraft unless you want multiple admins to have direct-file access. That why I was curious if Hamachi servers were more than your basic VPN/VPS.
So, all I was asking was; "is that all it's for or am I missing something?"

But seriously, I doubt the full release of 1.8 will be this glitchy. I have a Radeon 5870, 6Gb of ram, and an Intel i7 1.6ghz and only get 40 FPS in 1.8.
I'm sure it's in some sort of debug mode, or just simple isnt optimized yet. No worries.
I like how people still forget to take into account taxes (which I hear are crazy high, 40% or something), business expenses, distribution among the other members of Mojang, and any other things that'll be taking away from that 45 million. Notch probably didn't get more than a million dollars, if that.
Yeah, no. He didn't lose 95%+ of his income. Even 100+ Million dollar lottery winners who take the lump sum still walk away with at least half of what they won. I also somehow doubt he pays his few employees more than 100k a year.. and thats being generous.

While, I do agree he has all the right to have a life. I just feel he neglects the game and abuses the freedom of not having a "boss" to look over him. And so lacks the self discipline to work hard without someone cracking a whip on him.
But, I do actually agree with you. Everyone, no matter who they are, deserves free time.. and if it's on a normal "non working day" we have no right to complain what he does with that free time.
I'm just annoyed that up until 1.8 started rolling, he really has been slacking. So I guess "leisure coding" presses one of my buttons.
We're talking about the convention of a game that is still at beta, are you aware of that? Well whatever, like I said he deserves all the money but not everyone can afford 100 dollars to go to a convention and yes I know of course not everyone will be able to but still I think it is a tad too high price
I may be wrong, but I think the convention is doubling as a "Launch party". So it's not really for a game in Beta, it's for a game just released.
Although, I could be wrong. All I know about this convention is it's in Vegas, and it's $99.

I see that no one answered me. Guys, hello. He earned over 45 million dollars and a maximum of 2 million of that amount could have gone to development. The other 43 million dollars is quite enough to make a convention for free. And like I said, for such a popular game, sponsors are easy to find. He should have done it for free since without the fans, he wouldn't have 45 million dollars of fortune right now.
The excuse "Because he has the money to do it for free and not be effected by it" isn't a valid reason why he should. By that definition, Steve Jobs should go buy everyone in America a car, because he can afford to do so, as a "thank you" for making Apple one of the largest companies in the world.
EDIT: I also seriously doubt 2 million bucks went into developing minecraft. Even with a full staff of people, I doubt it broke 1 million, or even half.

Mojang is making a massive loss for this -- they're paying for the convention room at a massive hotel and subsidising your room out of their personal funds AND they're paying a whole bunch of speakers to appear
I'm kind of surprised he's generalizing and saying it's "Only half a days wage". I bet 90% of the Minecraft community that can even legally have a job (So we're already cutting out half the community right there, since most are under 16). Probably don't make much more than $10/hour. That's only $80/day before taxes.
Now, I'm not saying "Derp! u r rich LOLOL". Because I actually make about $400/day. ($1,960/week) So to me, $99 isn't a big deal. But you're grossly underestimating what $99 is to a person who makes minimum wage at Wal-Mart.
Now, back on topic (and an odd 180 degree turn in my argument direction); I think $99 is a fair price. I've been to Vegas several times, and I can tell you, compared to everything else in Vegas, 99 bucks is chump change.
Go see Blue Man Group while you're there. It's just a show.. and it's $120/pop. Or better yet, go to the MGM and see Cirque du Soleil. It's over $200 a person.
I just want to say though there is no point for notch to change it if there are texture packs avaliable that make glass look more awesome, doku for example.
I don't use texture packs, because when I design a building, I want to know it looks good for everyone. Not just myself. To claim that "there's a texture pack for that" (Even though there's not, because you need a mod to do what I'm suggesting) is just silly. :smile.gif:
Am I the only one sick and tired of major terrain changes?
I hope these new changes don't totally change the seed like we saw between 1.7 -> 1.8 -> 1.9PR -> 1.0.
While the changes we used to see from the introduction of survival to 1.7.2 were fine, you can't expect us admins to keep up with all these full-on biome/seed changes. This is getting stupid.
If these new changes only change/tweak the existing terrain, fine. If they *totally* change seeds again like we saw between 1.7 -> 1.8 and even 1.8 -> 1.9PR where nothing major changed but the whole map was different, I will be furious.
You. Need. To. Stop. F**king. With. The. Terrain. PLEASE Add more terrain options, but stop screwing with the defaults. I have no problem with adding some flowers, or minor tweaks, like tall grass and pumpkins. But us server admins seriously need some stability.
Add all the other generators you want (IE Flatmap) but PLEASE finalize the default generator and STOP touching it.. or at the very least, leave the old generators intact so we don't have funky borders on old seeds.
