posted a message on When did YOU start playing Minecraft?

I don't know exactly when i started, But i originally played on my brothers computer in 2010 sometime. When i got my own copy my brother showed me paulsoaresjr, looking at the videos i remember i must have started between July and October 2010.

I took a break here and there, but MC has been a big part of my life especially when i was younger.

It's crazy to think i've been playing minecraft longer than some people that play the game now have been alive, Insane really.

Currently i am taking the first steps into coding mods for the game, and it has brought that wounderous feeling back again, not really knowing what i'm getting into, but there we have it.

posted a message on Trying to get an old version of MCP working, please help!

I managed to get it to work! I had to unplug my ethernet cable as i couldn't find a config file to set "Offline mode" to true.

I also preemptively found a 1.7.3 bin folder and copied it into MCP (Something told me i needed to), but i'm unsure if this actually had any effect.

Not really sure where to go from here! Suppose i have a bunch of things to learn. almost undoubtedly will be back with some weird Java error or something, but until then thanks again! I owe you. :)

posted a message on How to delete assets?

Thank you so much for the information! I have made a few mods for a game called Kerbal Space Program which runs on unity, but they were INCREDIBLY basic

    (Copy/Pasting a part and changing its stats/size)

And i have messed around with Tf2 configs before, also tried out Unity and Gamemaker studio 2 so i have a small amount of coding knowledge.

As for what i'm looking to do; i want to mod in a bunch of things i wanted to see in minecraft when i was younger (in beta 1.7.3). And improve caves (they're so boring right now), i also want to be able to play the mod with my friends and if i ever flesh it out enough and rid the server client of old bugs then i may release it on here. But that wont be for a long long time.

Again, thank you for the support and knowledge!

Thank you for all this info man!

One last question; is there any way to mod Beta versions of minecraft? Would i just have to learn Javascript? And how would i mod a server client so i could play with friends?

Yeah, i was just trying to delete stuff. xD

And you're completely right, i should just use an old version like beta 1.7 (my favourite) and mod new stuff in

Thank you so so much for the lengthy post i can see you put some real time into it, means a lot, i owe you one. :)

I'm not sure what you mean by "assets" but if you are referring to the assets folder in the .minecraft folder, that only stores things like sounds - you have to actually mod the game itself if you want to remove things (and not by deleting the contents of the assets folder in the jar - that will just give you missing textures, not actually remove blocks and items, which requires modding the game to remove them by changing code).

Otherwise, how would you go about modding things 'Out' of the game? and how does that effect performance?

Okay, i figured out how to delete assets, but because of the way the launcher works it just redownloads everything i get rid of.

    Any ideas?
