They're glitchy, sometime save-corruptingly so.
They can't be modded, patched or re-textured in most cases.
Plus, I think enough people here suffered from the glitchyness of the Beta 1.8 pre-releases enough to never do it again.

Worth the wait.

This is not a fault in Optifine, nor is this a new development.
Simply de-activate CTM in the Quality menu when you switch to an unsupported texture pack.
There isn't even a load time, it takes effect instantly.
Also, on a related note, when using texture packs that are designed to look like the default but don't have proper water/lava animations (like Faithful, Traditional Beauty, Defined, R3dCraft, etc...) you can set water and lava animations to "dynamic" under the Animations menu to fix them. (They will automatically change to the texture pack's resolution.)

You must be using MCPatcher's or Optifine's "Custom Colors" features for it to work.

Just thought you should know.

Exactly. This is why it is an issue.
Pretty much everything nowadays relies on Forge and so all mods that are incompatible get left behind.

Congratulations.

I'm officially giving up on this mod, despite its usefulness. It has officially become to large of a pain in the ass to be worth it. So many mods now require Forge than all those that are incompatible with it get left behind.

DO NOT try to compile the zip yourself! Instead, delete the mod out of your downloads folder and retrieve the ORIGINAL zip file out of the trash! You can then use this zip in the mods folder.
For whatever reason, this mod stops working if decompiled and re-compiled. Probably a directory issue.
I'm just glad I can use it again!

That means you did something wrong. It's not supposed to do that.

What exactly does this mean? Is this version only for the pre-release or can it be used in 1.4.2?
EDIT: Okay, 1.4.4 is out... but this still doesn't work with forge. What am I doing wrong? I've tried installations into both "mods" and "coremods" folders. Still doesn't work.

I just really dislike not knowing anything.
