If you need mods/plugins to use it then how is it IN the game? I do not believe that this is being added. I would LOVE to see wall slabs added though but I doubt in 1.9 especially since it's the combat update.

We had done a bunch of stuff using third party software's like MCedit that we cant do in vanilla. Even if there was a mod that adds vertical slabs, that couldn't be used on vanilla servers or maps for others to play. Even if this is inaccessible in-game, if the game supports that kind of coding programers can make mods/plugins for this.

Guys you wished for this, and now it might come true! They might be adding support for rotation/mirror to blocks, witch means there can be grass blocks with grass on side, side way doors and upside-down beds! and of course the vertical slabs. This will be a huge impact to buildings, we can now create in more detail. We don't know if it is able in survival, if its a command, or you need mods/plugins for this, but surly it will be something great!

This is just shown as a concept for the suggestion. I would like to see more color variation for water according to height as well (perhaps tied to sea level instead of a fixed height).

yea... those ones might be harder than the others. because for sunset/sunrise it needs to be from a certain angle, like if your looking down directly at it, it shouldn't be orange...
