The weird thing is is that I can only download most of the filters, the other ones like stack entites, player skull, spawner to minecart... when I click downlaod on these ones, they only show the code, while the others download itself.
Use the solution I suggested above, then. Right click the link and save the .py file instead of letting your browser open it.
Okay, I did a little bit of testing on this idea. The Ender Dragon isn't quite like other mobs, and an Ender Dragon spawner doesn't seem to work quite as well as other spawners. I've had some luck surrounding mob spawners with redstone lamps to be able to turn the spawners off and on, effectively, but plunking an Ender Dragon spawner into the same setup gave me really unpredictable results.
At first I couldn't stop it from spawning at all, and then having done that, I couldn't get it to start again -- it's possible I hit the entity cap, but I'm not sure. With the spawn conditions met (only space, I think) the dragons will spawn, and I can't stress this enough, even in peaceful mode in the middle of the day. Changing to peaceful mode from another difficulty will also not cause them to despawn, unlike every other hostile mob.
So my suspicion is that there's no controllable way to make an ender dragon spawner work only once a year, at least without any mods. Also, if you put it in the overworld without /gamerule mobGriefing false... you won't have much of an overworld any more.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have about six renegade dragons to go murder.
Edit: It will also drop the bedrock return portal on the map below where it dies, and stepping into that takes you to The End again.
Thanks, but we can only download half of the filters at sethbling.com, other filters like Stack entities, you have to copy the code and make it yourself. But I don't knew the lines and spaces, if anyone does, leave the code with lines and space in the comments below, thanks!!!
The linked program is Windows-only. MCEdit is cross-platform, though, and can do all of the things listed with the right filters. I'd suggest Create Geared Mobs, Change Mobs, Create Spawners, and Set Spawner Properties
2) No Mobs in a certain area only: If you want natural mob-spawning, but not for a specific area, the simplest way I know of is to use EITHER SPC or MCEdit to set the biome of the area to mushroom, as no mobs (except passive) will spawn there. There's also other biomes with a similar effect, but mushroom is the best.
Pretty much what I was thinking, except for 2 -- I'd say the easiest method would be light or tiles that mobs can't spawn on.
When you say "hide" monsters... do you want them to be invisible, or do you just want one area to not have monsters? Or do you want the whole map not to have monsters, but be on a difficulty besides peaceful?
As an alternative: MCEdit + Modify Item Strings filter. After putting the item you want to change in a chest in-game, go to MCEdit, select the chest, and use the filter. You just type in the text you want, then select the color and formatting (bold, italics, etc.) from drop down lists, hit filter, and you're good to go.
If your island is in an ocean biome, animals won't spawn. In other biomes, you need grass and a light level of (I think) 9 or higher, and you need to be as far away as you would to make hostile mobs spawn. It's something like 25 blocks minimum and 127 maximum.
Copying and pasting it may have destroyed the formatting -- I'm pretty sure you need to preserve the line order and spacing. Why can't you download the .py file from Sethbling's site? If it displays as text when you click the link, just right click and chose "Save link as" (or similar, depends on your browser).
I'm going to have to agree that your two options are a bit overdone. Maybe a friend has set up a treasure/scavenger hunt for you or something similar? I think you could have more fun with the signs and hints that way, like friendly mocking of the player.
I made it with XP Levels, but I added some Mobfighs. I tested the Mobloot Gamerule, may this is turning off the XP that you earn by killing an Mob, but it wont.
Do you want XP but no items from mobs, or do you want no XP or items from mobs? /gamerule doMobLoot false will stop XP from dropping.
As several other people have said, the kicker that made this map so incredible is the innovative concept. I played this map for several hours with the intention of exploring everything (rather than generally surviving.) As I found when my brother played through it later, I failed miserably, considering that I missed several species of zombies which he subsequently found That gives you several points anyway, for thinking up 70+ different kinds of zombies. But besides the concept and variety, I loved the Aperture Science-esque humor and other snarky remarks, not to mention the story, that took the edge off of the repetitive bashing of zombies- plus the well-designed XP shop.
If I were to make one complaint on an otherwise fantastic map, I didn't really appreciate the swearing in the journals. I understand the emotions you were trying to convey, but it doesn't seem to fit with the overall theme of the map.
That said, great job with everything else. This map should have more rep than it does, let's keep it up on the first page!
Thank you for playing, and for heaping so much praise on my map -- and thank you for honest criticism!
After watching the people doing LPs of my map, I had been reconsidering the profanity. At the time I was developing the map, I thought nothing of it, but I realize the community I've released it to is all over the place in terms of age range and whether or not they care about swear words. As the map is meant to be accessible to everyone, and someone's now openly mentioned the swearing, I think I'll go through and either remove it or change it to something a bit milder at the very least.
EDIT: I think I've managed to remove all the profanity or, in one instance, replace it with crazy scrolling characters. So ZomBeatBox is now more PG rated, at least in that regard.
Increased some shop prices; slightly altered food options
Increased item to xp converter xp amount
Made nether lava oceans slightly easier to travel
Added an extra secret in the nether
Removed switch to adventure mode inside the box
Added a button to change time to day
Minor artistic changes to teleporters, chest contents, etc.
I'm considering adding an achievement system for some things, like finding the hidden chests, number of kills, etc. in a future update.
Thanks again to my many excellent beta testers, and to the two people currently doing Let's Plays of the map. Check out MineGamesHG and i212MC to see more videos of the map (the first ones are in the main post) and subscribe if you enjoy their work!

Stack Entities is available at Sethbling's site, here: http://sethbling.com/downloads/mcedit-filters/stackentities/
I suspect you may've missed the page buttons on the filters list -- they're quite easy to overlook.
