Yes. Trap chests have a slight red ring around where the gray latch is. You have to be looking for it to see it. Random_Guy_32 must be red/green color blind. To people who are red/green color blind, red and green both look like the color of chests. So I've been told.

Yeah, I thought so too. But the terrain generator hasn't changed in the snapshot.
No, Jeb's not a troll. It's probably just terrain that looks like old generation. -

I can't imagine such effort being put forth for the crafting of such an item. I suppose we will find out. =)
Perhaps it will be like lapis and give you multiple pieces of the mineral for each block of ore? -

I fail to see the green you are speaking of. I see brown and an off-white. Nothing the Redstone Lamp doesn't already have.
Brownish-green. Whatever. Brown. It's a much greener brown than dirt, isn't it? Redstone lamps have brown in them because they're turned-off glowstone. The brown in the light sensor has to come from a material in its crafting recipe since there's so much of it. No current material has that color. The crafting recipe will probably consist of a partial rim (like in a chest or furnace recipe, but without the top row) of the new material with redstone dust in the center. Purely speculation, of course. -
Jan 2, 2013RadioactivFly posted a message on Light Sensor Block? This affirms my belief that Mojang will indeed make a new Nether ore for the Redstone Update. Look at that green-brown material the light sensor is made of. It looks nothing like anything already in the game. And that green-brown color contrasts nicely against the red of Netherrack. I have no doubt that the green material the light sensor is made of is in fact the new nether mineral.Posted in: News

As far as I'm aware, Mojang doesn't have these versions that are missing from the launcher, because Notch's computer died. They may still be out there though, on the hard drives of people who played the game at that time. There are archiving groups attempting to recover these versions.

Is there any plan to ever release a version of the original Aether, with the old dungeons, old trees, etc that is compatible with newer versions of Minecraft (and more importantly, available for download)?

Nothing is set in stone right now, but there's a possibility that Hemitite may return with a new rev.

Oh no... this had such potential

Is there any chance we could get a version of the pack that uses Levaunt's original cobble, stonebrick, and glass? I really don't like the changes that were made to existing textures in the pack after Levaunt stopped working on it.

I sure do hope this pack will indeed be continued. It is perhaps my favorite texture pack of all time, and I don't quite understand why this pack hasn't received the same continuation attention that packs like DokuCraft and John Smith have.

This has probably been answered several times already, but... What is the new mob that was added? I've been seeing stuff about stalkers, were they the mob that was added?
