WOW that's funny. 0_o
Before the 1.4 update, using optimine AND Stutterfix (the CAF mod for integrated graphics) I was getting a solid 25-30 (sometimes 20) fps with fast graphics and short rendering distance.
Just right now, without any of these mods, I am getting 70-100 FPS (not constantly though, dips down to 40-50 sometimes) and I am just surprised. I can only imagine how great minecraft will work with these mods.
Oh, and Im using a Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset family with 3 gigs of ram and a Dual Core Pentium 2 processor @2.2GHz
I've actually been avoiding minecraft because I thought my minecraft would play at 10 fps, not 100. 0_o
It seems that the people reporting these new benefits from 1.4 all have multiple cores. Is it possible that Notch or another Minecraft programmer allowed the game to utilize more cores? I have a single-core PC and it seems about the same for me (or slightly worse).
couldn't we backdate the minecraft patch so we can get the mod working?
You could, but why play an outdated version of minecraft when you can be patient for a few days?
I prefer being able to play on an outdated version than seeing huge lag-spikes and lower average FPS just so I can go play with some new features.
That is why. It is a matter of preference, however. Some people can play vanilla minecraft without hiccups, others (especially those with laptops/netbooks) can not.
Okay, I have the 1.4 Update, and I'm trying to redownload Optimine. Problem is, It won't let me delete my META-INF folder. Says that something else is using it. Minecraft is CLOSED, and the only thing open on my computer is the Bin Folder (which I have closed previously. No change) and the WinRAR with Optimine and the Minecraft.jar
What's going on? Did they make it impossible to tamper with the jar?!
Try restarting your computer. Sometimes when you've opened a program that uses it (Minecraft), it won't let you modify/delete it even after closing.
I hope to see this for 1.4 soon. I mistakenly updated without thinking about the fact that I had installed this (and it made the game wonderfully fast).

I think he means 5 Seconds per Frame. -nods- So slow that he can't even use FPS to measure it anymore.

I tried the same thing, and then I got sick of it and went back to my 1.3 Backup. I'll patiently wait for a new Optimine build before updating to 1.4.

You could as well. Hypocrisy is wonderful.
