Seems too easy to make. I suggested the ability to craft a robot mob, functionality left up in the air, but it would have to be done through a long complex process of creating components, putting them together to form other components and finally assembling the robot itself. The process would require alchemy, a furnace, three sizes of crafting table and an anvil. Therefore people won't automatically be able to attain servants, which would be a significant aid in the game. If they could, multi-player survival servers would just be filled with dirt golems. Here's my post: http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=9338.
I don't think the technological theme of minecraft always for items like walkie-talkies that use electricity and complex circuits. I mean, it just doesn't fit.
Aside from that, why not just include it as a server-chat command on default?
...
What if, in creative multiplayer, since these creatures are not available, what if you had the choice to play as them. And reskin them as you see fit? So that not everyone is little block people. Not that I dont like the block people. But more models to skin wouldn't hurt!
...
Are you sure? If it's so it's just pretty much creative with limited blocks. I really hope there are mobs in survival multiplayer...
i believe he meant that in multi-player CREATIVE there are no other mobs. Obviously multi-player survival will have all the current mobs and more.
You can tear down tress with your fists, crush stone with wood, and carry nearly 2000 cubic kilometers of solid rock in your pocket, and this is what bothers you?
Yes, yes it is. XD
In all seriousness, though, I guess what I'm saying is a little ridiculous, but I always like to see more complexity, more of an ability to progress. I guess the idea that to get diamond tools, all you have to do is a hunt and search sort of thing bothers me. I know it's a hard process, but, not complex enough for me.
Stupid idea. Think about it, it's hard to get diamond, and now you want no diamond tools, or if diamond tools are there, you are just making them harder to make. -1
I'm sorry I'm not more clear. What I mean is, you don't directly craft diamond tools, you would would have to encrust gold tools with diamond. It would make more sense, and be more complex/difficult (I think this to be a good thing). Again, credit goes to LightRider for the Whole alchemy, encrusting, calcification thing. Read his thread.
The other part of my idea is that you could recraft other tools (stone and metal tools) on an anvil to make them better.
i REALLY hate to be That Guy. I really do, but it has to be said:
This really kills the system. It means Notch will yet again have to make blocks hold more information, and heat sounds even more complicated than light. This will require that the game track two entire systems of radiation (heat and light). It will absolutely KILL speed. Again, I'm sorry, I actually love the idea, but I don't think it's possible.
I suggest that there should be no diamond tool option. It doesn't make sense. How do you put the diamonds together?
Instead, the player can make their tools better by using an anvil crafting station. The tools you start out with are blocky, primitive things. You have the opportunity to craft them to a higher degree of finesse. Wood would be uncraftable in this way. You could make stone tools marginally better, and iron tools would be able to become very powerful through crafting in this way. Gold could be included, but seeing as it's only as strong as wood right now...
instead, you could use diamonds on your gold tools, but the only way to do so would be using alchemy. I know this is sort of a half-formed idea, but whatever.
EDIT:
Sorry for not doing this earlier, but the whole alchemy system has been formulated well by LightRider. See his Alchemy thread for what I'm referring to.
Attackers riding spiders dropping down from above, lunging at the townspeople while their backup pillages and destroys structures. Just the image of a wave of attackers all riding attack spiders is awesome.
To eliminate those problems: Just have everything move. No stopping the islands or other blocks at all. Every **insert time here** all the blocks would move one over. It would be taxing, with the sheer number of chunk updates, but it can happen infrequently, the islands don't have to move TOO fast. If you wanted them to move faster without worry of mem usage, just have the blocks move two over every **insert time here**.
When I say the Advanced table is needed, I just mean that a Lantern is a bit more complicated than a torch. It needs a glass enclosure, a fuel source, a wick, a handle or hook, a lot of parts in general. Try building one in a 3x3 crafting grid.
One more thing: Notch said he was going to implement lanterns. A more complicated crafting table will be needed for an object that complex. Just sayin'.
Thanks for replying. Yeah, I'm looking forward to the implementation of steam-punk, but more importantly, I think this sort of component and assembly system would allow for many other suggestions to take effect: i.e. simple vehicles, better weapons, other methods of transportation, mechanical devices, etc. In combination with Alchemy and a Forge, I think it would make a great overall crafting system.

Where's the handle?
Or if there is no handle, never mind. I still like the idea of an Advanced Crafting Table.
XD
