Hm. Mules could be like walking chests, maybe.

Actually I was thinking about that. Another special saddle?

Sounds awesome, maybe it would require to craft a chest + saddle into a mule-saddle of sorts? With packs on the side equaling the space of a normal chest :tongue.gif:

Also it would be cool if you could give the mule commands, eg follow me/stay/dismissed :tongue.gif:

Indeed. The only conceivable use I can see for it is shuttling your supplies to a new fortress, or moving massive amounts of stone to a building site.

Also I'd suggest mules, because it fits in with the whole, you know, Mining thing.

Agreed, mules do seem like a good idea. However, it wouldn't really make sense that mules go faster than we currently do. They're more of a load bearing animal, slow and steady. I'm not sure what their function would be if we did have them. They can't really attack, they're slow, don't offer protection, and we can already practically carry continents in our back pocket :| . At first they seemed like a good idea, and then I thought about it for a while and came up with this. Good thinking, anyway, I hadn't thought of 'em. :smile.gif:

Eagles and such, those would be hard to catch, so it seems fair to have

    Exactly! :biggrin.gif:

Might be offtopic but i would also like to see shields, as a way to block attacks and arrows (a limited amount, then the shield breaks). Shields could be made of different materials like armor and tools.

It is, but I still agree.

I've suggested this before, as have others. I'm sort of consolidating the ideas and including a proposed list of ridable mobs.

    How To Do It:
No details, just a rough outline. You capture the animal somehow, be it by sedative, trap, or otherwise. If it isn't domesticated by the first process domesticate it, maybe with a collar. Final step to preparation is a saddle, which should require an anvil to craft (to pound out the leather) and a lot of resources (leather, rope, magic?). Place the saddle on the mob and it's ready to ride.
None of the mobs allow you to craft while using them. Your bottom-of-the screen inventory is replaced with action-boxes. You select an action, left click to perform it, and right click to perform an alternate.

    Now for the list:
    1. Spider
The first mob you can ride. It can only be captured during the day, while it's docile. The traits available are: lunge attack action, web shot action, and wall climbing ability. No arrows, or other weapons. Take less damage than normal. Requires Special Saddle A (enchanted with runes).

    2. Giant Albatross
Found on islands or in the air. The traits available are: flying, bow or crossbow if you have them, dive-bomb attack (does half as much damage to you as it does to target). Take a lot more damage than normal. Requires Runic Saddle B (enchanted with runes).

    3. Giant Eagle
Like the ones in Lord of the Rings. Extremely rare. You'll probably never be lucky enough to catch one. The traits available are: fast flying, dive-bomb attack (4x as much damage as albatross, no damage to you), dive, bow or crossbow if you have them. Take as much damage as normal. Requires Runic Saddle B( enchanted with runes).

    4. Horse-Like Grassland Animal
Found in the grasslands (obviously). Fairly common. The traits available are: fastest movement of any mount (2.5x as fast as player), rear attack/ trample attack (does very light damage), no arrows or other weapons. Take more damage than normal. Just a regular saddle required.

    5. Giant Scorpions (mrwormy)
Found in the Desert. Extremely rare. You'll probably never be lucky enough to catch one (unless you're mrwormy). The traits available are: slightly slower movement than walking, claw attack, poison sting attack, no arrows or other weapons. Take much less damage than normal. Requires Runic Saddle A (enchanted with runes).

    6. Mules (swingerzetta)
Found in the desert. Semi-common. The traits available are: extra inventory, follow, stay, no arrows or any other weapons. Take as much damage as normal. Requires a pack saddle. Mule chains, maybe?

That's it. If you have more mob suggestions fire away. Just NOT creepers, riding creepers is a stupid idea. I like to think that these are reasonably balanced. The eagle is the most powerful for its versatility and wide range of actions. The spider is second-best, but much more common. Its power merits a high cost for making its saddle.
    Anyway, feedback?

I wish lighting were better in the oceans so these worlds could be better explored.

    Luminescent coral?
I'm thinking that someone has to come up with a theme-fitting object analogous to scuba gear. I HATE the scuba idea because it doesn't fit the game, but you're right, this aspect of the world shouldn't be neglected.

Alright, new addition to the idea:
When the airship is destroyed, it blows up, sending down a number of fiery explosive projectiles depending on its size.
It drops about three quarter of the blocks used to make it, and the player's inside are left with 1 heart and fall to the ground (prevents airships from becoming inherent death-traps).

I say stingrays only arbitrarily. What I want is a mob that lies on the bottom, and only attacks if tread upon or attacked. I suggested sting-rays because they seem like the obvious choice. It seems silly not including something just because people might make jokes about it.

Very well done sir. If this is how magic was implemented, I would for once agree with magic. I think no separate workbench is needed, just use the alchemy workbench. This idea actually works perfectly with LightWarrior's idea for an alchemy crafting method. Read it here: http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=8856
    Again, very nice.

Also, I would love more cooking, not super complex cooking though, just more.
    +1

The more complexity, the better. Keeps the annoying kids out. Just look at Dwarf Fortress, ever seen a 13 year old play that?

Anyone under the age of 20 who can play DF is not a child, nor adult. They are an old man in a youth's body. They do not fall under the same classification as those drunken genetic rejects overcrowding our education system.

In any case, more interesting cooking would be nice. For example, at the moment, we make bread out of wheat on a table. No fire involved. No dough. We don't even turn it into flour. (though that would rather annoy me) I think we should at LEAST need to bake the stuff. Same with the waterless mushroom soup.

    Mmmm... fiber loaf.
    Mmmm...mushroom paste.

But, yeah, seriously, a cooking bench would be nice.
Along with an anvil, lab, alchemy bench, advanced bench, and large bench.

I don't even care whether they fit into the theme here. They're going to be awkward and over-the-top no matter what. Any way I spin it, they just don't fit with the game. I would have to go with the scaffolding part on this one. If you're making pixel art, or other things of that decorative or showy nature, why aren't you in creative, using hax? The entire point of survival is that there's no easy way to do something. It SHOULD be hard. If you want to go beyond utilitarian, it shouldn't be a walk in the park. When you can't build by normal means, don't ask for a jet-pack. Invest in some scaffolding or other system.

@Canadian: Suit yourself. However, you are starting to become obnoxious. Remember that I am a moderator, and I can -- and probably am obligated to deal with increasingly-abusive posts and posters. Besides, you aren't making any argument by posting images to hide yourself and give us a rough approximate of your current feelings. Still, I would like you to troll me for a bit, if only because that would be funny. That is what I am thinking of right now.

Hmm, I''ll look up the video when I feel inclined.

Finally watched the video. I laughed, and then I... well you know.

Oceans need to be big. REALLY big. So big, you can't swim across them for fear of shark attacks big. To get across oceans, you're going to need to build a boat.
Also in oceans, there should be islands. I see four types of islands: Archipelagos, Desert Island, Mountainous Island, and rocky outcrop. Archipelagos would be a collection of 3 -5 small islands with grass and a few trees. Desert islands would be all sand. Not much of anything. Mountainous islands would be the big ones. They would essentially be a mountain surrounded by either small forests or small grasslands. An alternate variety would be volcanic. Rocky outcrop seems self-explanatory. They could possibly occur around Mountainous islands and damage ships.
Oceans would be home to a few mobs: Small Fish, Big Fish, Sharks, Stingrays, Whales, and the very rare Kraken. These would be combat able with a harpoon gun. Sharks and Kraken would be aggressive. Stingrays would be semi-aggressive. The rest would be peaceful.

    So, to sum up, oceans:
-Huge, enough to merit the building of ships.
-Interspersed with four types of islands.
      -Five types of mobs.

    Well, how about...
Mithril: Super-strong and rare material, stronger than diamond.

Adamantine: Super-super-strong and rare material, stronger than Mithril.

Mythatine: Combination of Mithril and Adamantine. Stronger than Adamantine, but its real advantage is since both those materials are superbly resistant to magma, when wielding one item made of it, you can go through magma for 5 seconds without getting injured. If you carry two items of it, then you can go through magma for 10 seconds without getting injured, and so on.

Stormphrax (Idea from: 'The Edge Chronicles): A rare mineral, that is either found on top of high mountains, or deep underground on top of buried mountains. It isn't as good as diamond, but it has a chance to light something on fire since the power of lightning is captured inside it. But its real value is that when combined with TNT and two blocks of sand, the result is a super bomb item named: 'Stormbomb' This bomb covers 18 blocks and lights the surrounding grass/trees/etc. on fire.

Uranium: Rare mineral. If you try to make weapons out of it, the menu automatically closes and you are lit on fire. However, if you use it instead of gunpowder when making TNT, you get a new item named: 'A-Mini bomb' (Atomic mini-bomb) that blows up 10 blocks. If you combine the A-Mini bomb with a normal TNT, you get the 'A-TNT bomb' which covers 15 blocks. When you combine the A-Mini bomb with the Stormbomb, you get a bomb that covers 22 blocks and lights things on fire. When you combine the Stormbomb and the A-TNT bomb, you get a bomb named 'A-StormTNT' which covers 25 blocks and lights the surrounding things on fire.

Silver: Uncommon but not rare mineral that is bad generally, but as good as diamond against zombies. (I know it should be werewolves, but we don't have werewolves do we?)

Bonurim: Uncommon but not rare mineral that is bad generally, but as good as diamond against skeletons.

Spidersbane: A material rarer than Silver and Bonurim, that is bad generally but as good as diamond against spiders. It is rarer than Bonurim and Silver for this reason: When combined with Iron it creates Poisiron, which has a chance of having a critical hit which can kill any creature in one hit. When combined with other minerals, it has the same effect, like for Mithril its Poisthril, and for Adamantine its Poistine. All these poison materials have the critical hit chance.

Nulantifier: A material rarer than Silver and Bonurim, but not as rare as Spidersbane. It is not good generally but as effective as diamond against creepers. Its a bit rarer than Silver and Bonurim for this reason: When you get a hit on a creeper, it prevents the creeper for blowing up for 3 seconds. So if you hit it 3 times, the creeper can't blow up for 9 seconds, which leaves you time to kill it or escape.

Notchanum: Rarer than adamantine, and like 25% percent better than it. When combined with Mythatine, it creates the best material in the game. Notchythatine.

Notchythatine: Best material in the game. It breaks through materials in a little below a second, and has such a high durability that if you gain some of it and make it into a pick, that one pick would last you as long as one 999 stack of diamond picks. When you are wielding one item made of it, you can spend 15 seconds in magma without getting injured. With two items, that time is 30 seconds, and so on. When combined with A-StormTNT, it creates an item named A-StormNotch, which covers 50 blocks, lights the surrounding things on fire, and should be used at your own risk.

Who's your drug dealer? I want what you're on.

But in all seriousness... seriously? You could at least try to not be ridiculous. We don't need that many stronger materials. After the first few you list, the rest get progressively funnier.

Hey! Lets also have rocket ships and ray guns and moon rovers and trains and teleporters and sniper rifles! We can craft Toyotas and DIGGING MACHINES! OH! and lets have cruise ships, then we can have pirate ships and then make submarines and be able to craft hand grenades and guided missiles! GOOD IDEA! Wow why diddnt i think of that? Oh wait, I havn't been high for the last 3 hours. Are you retarded? Last time i checked, there were no Nuclear WMD's in the Medieval time period.

Plus it's already been made, it's that big red X at the top of your screen. Give it a try

I just LOVE how you stuck a couple suggestions that are legitimate in there to cast a negative light on them. That's classy. Really, it is, you are truly brilliant sir. Truly. Brilliant. Classy. Truly.

EDIT: I regret furthering this because THIS THREAD NEEDS TO DIE! NOW!!!
