posted a message on What texture pack is this?

The inventory is from a youtuber named ImEmma (of course, as it says). The hotbar is a simple default edit, and there's no reasonable way we can determine where it's from considering the unorganized cesspool that is the world of default pvp edits.

Feel free to check out Sanity, which is my pack. It's 16x, mostly up to date (though the 1.11 version needs work), and is definitely not getting a lot of attention. I have no idea if it's what you're looking for since you didn't give any parameters, but you asked for people to self-advertise and self-advertise I shall. :D

Let me know what you think and remember to give whichever pack you end up using a link back to their forum thread. Too many Youtubers use packs and then never give any credit. I'm hoping you're better than that. :D

I vouch for Sanity, it's indeed a very solid pack imo

I feel that the dark purple in the dirt part could either be lighter or darker. (I would say lighter.) The colour is too close to the dark brown you've used near the purple.

    Think this is better?

    Any other issues?

Trying something a bit different from what I usually go for, could anyone give feedback on this and/or improve it?

even after my GPU upgrade, I'm able to run more intensive shaders but I still always come back to this one. Again, keep up the good work.

Had to log in just to say this:

Sildur, you do not get enough credit for your efforts. Your vibrant shaders are very well optimized and look absolutely amazing, adjusting my settings I can run 70fps on a fairly mediocre PC.

AMD cards don't work with shaders.

No offense, and this may come off as rude, but don't spew about nonsense when you don't know what you're talking about.

This isn't true, this has never been true.

Spreading vague misinformation like this is a very bad habit. Not only for you, but for everybody around you.

Ehh.... The HD 7850 was, and still is, a powerful card. It has the GTX 750 Ti, beaten by a long shot. This is coming from a Nvidia fangirl, by the way - I adamantly avoid AMD, and attempt to persuade people from ever purchasing anything made by AMD. Here, have a look at this benchmark record, against the 750 Ti: http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-750-Ti-vs-AMD-HD-7850/2187vs2182

Anyways, the i3 that he owned at the time, was an incredibly poor CPU. Even my old Core 2 Quad Q6600 was more powerful than it. So, I'd argue that in this case, the problem was certainly the CPU. But yes... Shaders, specifically SEUS and its variants like Continuum, are extremely demanding on GPUs. I will never deny that.

and attempt to persuade people from ever purchasing anything made by AMD

Aw, don't do that. It's one thing to have preference, but we need more equal competition in the GPU space in order for future products to actually improve. When one company has significantly more market share than the other, it gets to a point where progression comes to a stand still. I know what you mean though, I understand the preference for Nvidia.

It's hard to use general GPU benchmarks to measure Minecraft performance. Newer generation "Polaris" cards might improve or even fix this problem, but AMD's current GCN architecture seems to really hate Minecraft's OpenGL implementation for some reason. That's why in the case of Minecraft, a GTX 970 outperforms an R9 390 by a significant margin.

"PVP" stands for "Practically Vattic's Pack" don't ya know. ;)

It might be interesting if some people tried to change that, though. Maybe by having legitimate add-ons for packs that do these things, people will patronize the actual artists rather than the thieves. Then again, considering how the PvP community is by and large, having PvP add-ons might just incentivize said community to steal people's packs and claim them as their own more than they already do. <_<

    Guess we'll find out. :)

    I've been trying.

I'm disappointed with the lack of creativity that goes on within the competitive community as far as resource packs go. There's a few that are unique, but are mostly 16x16 edits of default (See; Plast Pack, Infinite Pack).

Nobody wants to branch out anymore. Nobody seems to be putting in the time to make clever or detailed textures anymore. Rather than practice creativity in pixel art, everybody's playing it safe by making simple default edits or combining hundreds of textures from many different packs in hopes of their pack becoming popular.

I get that not everybody's into detailed or even good-looking textures, but it has gotten to the point where the average person doesn't even know that resource packs aside from the default or generic pvp edit exist. This saddens me because so many talented artists making packs on these forums are being overshadowed by the lazy.

That's why I'm such a huge fan of Lithos. It's a faithful-to-default pack that has the refreshing creativity that we need.

I'd be interested in making a PvP addon for Lithos:Core. The snapshot is my main priority now, but it is a start/stop kind of process.

Can you look at the pack (see my signature), and tell me what would need to be changed to make it PvP friendly?

Also please list what you would want to change for the individual versions. Different colored PvP packs might fairly easy depending on what's involved.

Not OP, but for reference these are the things most people look for in a pvp edit.

    - Low Fire, for visibility when your opponent has an enchanted weapon and/or lava
    - A good crosshair (Lithos already has this, maybe downsize it a bit.)
    - Highly visible ores that stand out more from the stone than usual.
    - Some feature a transparent inventory while others do not.
    - Mostly default colors and/or styling (Again, Lithos already has this)
    - Clearer water textures
    - Less obtrusive rain

Lithos is a perfect pack for a PvP edit. I made my own private one for personal use a while back because I liked the pack so much, glad that it could get an official edit in the future.
