Cartoon Pack isn't too bad. Kind of a cross between South Park and Looney Toons, when you look at the mob skins.

posted a message on Small question about world sizes
    Quote from hardypart

According to this interview with Mojang's Daniel Kaplan it's indeed due to not every XBOX having a HDD. I really don't understand it either why the bigger worlds can't be optional.

Having a hard drive would give them ability to temporarily increase the amount of memory available to use by converting hard drive space to virtual memory. Having a hard drive is only part of the problem because you run into how big of a hard drive as well as space available on that hard drive. You also run into limitations imposed by Microsoft on file size of saved games. Minecraft world saves can be large in file size. Increasing world size will greatly increase the file size.

    Quote from ThankOurTroops

If Xbox became an open-source system to allow modding, it wouldn't be optional. What, am I supposed to stop using Xbox just because I don't like mods? The point is I don't want Xbox to become an open-source platform, plain and simple.

You're the only one still going on about Xbox and open source mods. Everyone else is talking about mods via DLC that passed certification... and have been for quite a while.

For someone that can't play PC Minecraft because your wrists hurt too much, you sure do spend a lot of time typing on the forum... enough keystrokes to play PC Minecraft, that's for sure.

I'm beginning to believe you have no clue what you're talking about... or have no clue what the definition of the terms you're using are. I mean, how can you possibly even believe what you typed when they didn't even create Minecraft?

First party developers create the operating system... in this case, Microsoft.

Microsoft Studios is essentially the only Second Party developer for Microsoft. They exclusively create games for Microsoft operating systems.

Everyone else is essentially a third party developer.

Mojang is an independent developer. 4J Studios is essentially a 3rd party developer for Mojang, Microsoft, and Sony.

posted a message on Why im not getting Minecraft Xbox one Edition
So OP is making a rage post based on a "placeholder" on some website? Just an ounce of common sense would tell you that it won't cost that much. I mean come on... at least make an attempt to do an ounce of research yourself. I even helped by posting this link in another thread 11 days ago...

    http://www.gameseek.co.uk/search.php?c=Video_Games&k=minecraft xbox one edition

Who's to say that there won't be mods for Minecraft on Xbox ONE or PS4, either? Both use PC architecture. I think too many people on this forum take the word "mod", read it, and don't consider it's definition in the terms of service. Essentially we, the end users, are not allowed to modify or alter our console or the software installed on it. Simply put, they don't want us to compromise the system or create a new exploit that may affect others and their experience. However a mod, created by someone in the PC community, could in theory be given to 4J Studios... and recoded to work on the console and provided to us as an expansion pack or some sort of DLC. It would then be 4J Studio's responsibility to make sure the coding has no exploit that could be used to breach the security of the network or system.

I have the PC version. I bought it for my niece... and I'll tell you this. In my experience, many of those "mods" come with malware/spyware. As someone that had a few contracts removing malware/spyware, I can tell you that many Minecraft players don't even realize how horribly infected their PCs have become. Whether it's packaged in the "downloader" or zipped up in the installation files, it's all the same horrible crap.

Consoles may not give you as many options as PC, but I take comfort in knowing that anything my niece downloads on the console will not compromise the system or it's security.

    √36 = 6

Basically 36 times bigger would be the current size of the 360 world in a 6 x 6 grid.

posted a message on Slow cert testing
You can't wait 10 business days for an update to pass cert testing, really?

Minecraft is not the only game to have updates being tested, therefore testing doesn't even begin when they submit it. Testing begins, when they get to it... and I'd be willing to bet it's not even touched within the first 5 days. Like anything else, it waits it's turn in line.

So shhhh... seriously. Quit acting like a kid at Christmas.

posted a message on Lava Detector
Anyone else find it funny that the OPs username is Top Gun and the theme song for that movie was Danger Zone?

I always place my pickaxe in my hotbar next to glass (or another block.) That way I can quickly switch over to it and quickly replace a block. I use glass so that I can see exactly what's there whether it's lava or water.

You can easily practice this above ground with water. Build a pool. Dig into the side of the pool and quickly replace the block. Practice makes perfect.
