I'm going to be making more mods than this, so I've made a thread for simplicity. Each mod have their own threads for more information, downloads and specifics but here is a list of everything in one place!
Here are my mods, (Released or Pending), I hope you enjoy them!

iPixeli's Gender [Forge Universal][SinglePlayer][MultiPlayer]
This mod is for my fellow female minecraft players! But this is not a girls only thing. This mod has the option to turn the player into a female while maintaining the minecraft style. The mod works in Multiplayer. You can choose which model you want females to be seen as. This uses MinecraftForge Universal and can be installed on both the client and the server. With this, servers can set genders server-wide.

Wish [Forge Universal][SinglePlayer][MultiPlayer]
With this, players look to the night sky in hopes of seeing a shooting star.
Players can wish on the shooting stars. Watch out for items falling from the sky!

iPixeli's GenderMe Plugin Bukkit Plugin
This plugin is the counter part to the client side gender mod! It allows the setting of genders on a server and remember them. The plugin has its own permission nodes, (client commands are allowed by default). A player needs to be on either the server list or the client list to appear female to the client, (so if a server doesn't have this plugin, the client mod still functions).

iPixeli's HudZ [Client Mod]
This mod is for playing MineZ. It supplys a Heads-Up-Display (HUD) showing you your noise level, thirst, health, and hunger in a DayZ style. It works flawlessly with both Forge and Risugami's ModLoader and edits 0 files. By nature, this mod is expected to be compatible with everything!

SmileyFace [Bukkit Plugin][Spout]
It gives players a face when they use a text-face in multiplayer.

iPixeli's Controller Mode Mod
This mod makes typing on a controller possible! In total, only one core class is edited, this means it is compatible with every mod I know of! Includes: CChat- A mini on-screen keyboard for 'typeing' with your controller; Quick Chat- A set of useful sentences and phrases that are entered with a single on-screen button; CCommand- Vanilla and Bukkit commands that are entered with a single on-screen button.

*sigh* I had hoped that me saying about once every three or four posts would be enough, but apparently no-one cares enough to read.
I am going to switch to Forge with the next update. The reason I have temporarily halted progress on the mod is because I am waiting for Minecraft and Forge to update, so that I can begin the lengthy conversion process. I don't have all too much free time at the moment, so I'm likely going to wait until Christmas to do it.
Oh, by the way, to counter your point, The Aether has a rather low compatibility rate (on account of it using an API that not many other large mods use, which edits common and vital files in the standard Minecraft code), but it is one of the most successful mods out there. Not trying to infer anything by this, I just thought it interesting.

We work together to ensure that our work remains our own, and have an emblem of membership that shows that the modder is backed by the union, in case of discrepancies and/or loss of intellectual property. This emblem is the symbol that represents a license of creative works, which will be written as soon as the proper wording is agreed upon.
Admins should use the following symbol:
Be sure to check this page often, as it will frequently update (hopefully)
So what is the Modder's Union?
The Modder's Union (henceforth referred to as the MU) is a group to allow modders to better voice their concerns or suggestions to Notch and Curse on matters regarding changes to either Minecraft itself, or Minecraft Forum. Instead of having to each speak the same opinions separately, we can now collaborate as a group, and speak with a more powerful, united voice. The TAU (Texture Artist's Union) have recently gone through this process and have been able to negotiate with the Admins of the site much faster as a united group.
How can I join?
Joining the MU is easy. Simply post an aplication in response, and Admins will review it, and state their decision. However, since this is about uniting modders, not excluding them, we won't just be accepting the elite. Every modder is welcome, and we are far more likely to welcome you than reject you. See the application criteria below for more detailed information on how to structure your application.
Can I become an Admin?
Certainly. Provided you are an established modder. While everyone can become a member, the modders who really know their stuff, and have created not just exceptional, but also popular mods have the opportunity to be an Admin.
What if I'm not a modder?
That's fine. While you aren't exactly a member, you can still support the cause by displaying the MU logo, or linking to this thread, in your signature. It helps to spread the word and to show that we are united.
General criterion for joining the union:
-You must have created at least one mod. Please include a link to your work in the application comment.
-You must be willing to support the union and join in voting from time to time.
-You must include the Union's Official Seal in your signature.
-You must conform to posting guidelines.
-The work you do has to be original, that is to say that if you are simply compiling mod packs, it doesn't count.
-Mod continuations or expansions are acceptable, since they still require modding skill to create.
Admin criterion:
-You must be an established modder and be voted in by a majority of the current admins
Anything posted henceforth in this topic not in direct reference to the union or its affiliates will be reported and deleted.

There are literally hundreds of simple packs on this site. Only about 5 of them are actually good. This is not unique. This is not special. This is not good.

4x is not easy to do. If you had ever made any sprite art, you would know that making something look good with a very limited number of pixels is actually incredibly difficult.
Also, did you use the MC Patcher? If not, that might be why some things aren't working correctly.

Post some pictures.

In the same way that spending 2 minutes making minor changes to mob textures does not make a texture pack.

Yes, actually, it does. Legally, Mojang own full intellectual rights to their work. In that respect, they have full legal control as to how their work can be used. If they decide that they don't like mods, then all they need to do is alter their ToS, and mods of their work become illegal (however, this is only true of mods that make use of any of Minecraft's source code, it's a tricky one, really. If a mod doesn't use any of Minecraft's source code, then all of the code has been written by the mod author, and thus Mojang has no claim over it. Whether it can be used in conjunction with Minecraft or not is irrelevant, as long as none of the code was written by Mojang).
In simple terms, if you make anything entirely yourself, you have legal rights to determine how it is to be used. If you make something which is derived from something someone else has made, your work must comply with their terms of use first, and your own second.
In that respect, since mods are allowed by Minecraft's terms of use, the mod authors have a legal right to say how they want their work to be use, provided it doesn't infringe Minecraft's ToS.
EDIT: May I say that Copyright is not the same thing as rights. Copyright is a license that you pay for to essentially prove that a work belongs to you. You are unlikely to be able to take out Copyright on a mod, as it is already under a separate Copyright license, and this makes things very awkward if a case goes to court. I doubt very much that any modders have actual Copyright on their mods. However, this does not mean they don't have a right to determine how their work should be used, and it IS possible to win a court case without the help of Copyright, but Copyright does seriously help.
