I don't see why so many people are still arguing. It could be something as simple as a few lines of code and one more option when playing the game, which it could use a few more anyway really. Just toggling the endermen or at least their abilities would satisfy both groups of people and everyone could play their games as they wanted. Why in the world is this still being argued?
Heck, Endermen aren't even that strong right now. I killed three on my first night with just my fists and didn't die once... Five if you count the two I lured into water.
I'm sure these aren't the first time these ideas have been posted but I'm going to post them anyway.
I would absolutely love to see mods capable of:
-Removing or at least limiting the Endermans' ability to pick up blocks.
-Bringing back snow.
I don't know how hard they would be as I haven't looked at the Minecraft source code but if anyone ever creates a mod to do either of these for 1.8 it would be awesome
I agree with this. The idea behind it was cool but the results for large underground areas is terrible and needs to be fixed. Especially if you have a whole city underground that can no longer be seen due to the fog.
Just a thought:
Maybe a certain someone should stop b*tching about someone "whining" when they're tired of a million people "expressing" (usually quite rudely) their concern over a particular feature, that the creator of the game was perfectly within his rights to implement, and some of us actually find quite cool. So stop telling people to stop telling people to "get used to it" and get used to people who can turn your argument right back on you, because your part of this argument is just as petty and silly as the rest of it. You're not automatically superior just because you decided to be condescending toward other people. Good lord, you'd swear this guy was 10 years old...
I was arguing for a solution for BOTH sides and was pointing out that you attacking someone's suggestion for what they feel could be an improvement in the game is uncalled for. However, I've seen enough of your posts to know that your mentality won't accept that so I won't argue with you, there'd be no point. Insult people all you like, it only reflects back on you.
I still agree that the Endermen need some method of limiting their ability to pick up certain blocks. Though I'm guessing mods will be created for this soon given how many people feel that it is a bad feature to begin with.
GO GET A PICKAXE AND USE SOME GODDAMN COBBLESTONE!
They can only move blocks like dirt/sand/wood. If you build it out of dirt, you should expect it to be destroyed.... besides, what happens if you go in for maintenance, and you suddenly see a creeper come up behind you and blow? Should they not be allowed to explode? THAT is a lot of maintenance. Especially if you're right next to your creation.
Actually Endermen can move even things like bedrock and TNT right now. At least they could in the pre-release, I could be wrong about the latest update.

Maybe everyone should stop b*tching about someone "whining" when they're expressing their concern over a particular feature that a lot of the community seems to have issues with. It's perfectly within peoples rights to make suggestions for a game and so stop telling people to just "get used to it" and get used to hearing people disagree with you. Good lord, you'd swear the only people on these forums were 10 years old...
Some people like the Enderman and others don't. Making an option for them to be in the game wouldn't be hard (not EVERYONE wants a completely "creative mode" experience, they just don't like things messing up pre-existing structures without having to do major overhauls) and having such an option wouldn't hinder anyone's ability to have such mobs in the game, everyone is happy, end of story. This is a thread about suggestions for a game, not a place to act like idiots and argue over what game style you like best.

You're not using your brain. Mob farms / death traps / all these things that take advantage of the fact that monsters spawn in dark areas and are killed by drowning (how do skeletons drown, anyway? That needs to be removed..) were created by someone else a long time ago. Doesn't matter if yours looks different, you didn't invent the concept, you copied it from someone else.
Does it really matter? Why are you guys getting so bent out of shape just because someone built something and would prefer not to have it get destroyed every time it is used? It's not just mob grinders that now have to be reworked you know.
I have to agree here, from the moment I heard that Endermen could move blocks around I was really sad about what this might mean. Creepers aren't too bad and their explosions can be dealt with, it makes them unique. But just moving blocks around, including ones that you've placed yourself, is just flipping annoying.
I'd love it if at the very least they'd give us the ability to turn off their ability to carry blocks, or at least player placed blocks. If nothing else then just turn off the Enderman completely, because they're not even that tough. They're just annoying griefers who like messing up the world.
Well I haven't tried networking before but it certainly never hurts to try :smile.gif: ... Well, okay, sometimes it does but this time it doesn't.
Here's my channel, feel free to check out anything on there if you'd like. Though if you're looking for a quick sample of my videos and commentary, here is one of the latest episodes that I've uploaded (though the sound levels were a bit off in this one :sad.gif: )
I'll have to check out the other channels on this thread when I get home from work later too, sounds like there are some good things I could learn from some of you guys :wink.gif:
It simply means that there is memory being allocated for chunks in single player mode that for some reason isn't later being freed, resulting in memory being "leaked".
Try looking up a computer "memory leak" if you want the technical details.
I have to agree here. I like how big the mines are but I can't even dig a 1x1 hole down without hitting a mine in most worlds that I've generated. Hopefully they will make them much rarer so that there is actually some excitement in finding one of them.
Yep, that's right. I'm joining the bandwagon and doing what everyone else is doing right now which is playing through some of the new features in the 1.8 pre-release of minecraft. I don't do much, but here is my latest video in the series so far:

It's not the most exciting episode but here is my first using the new mod "Equivalent Exchange", an interesting mod which adds awesome yet extremely expensive new items to the game.
