posted a message on Question re: Friends list

    Hi all,

So im pretty new to PC minecraft (have mainly played it on console up until recently), ive been loving playing on the pc mineplex and hypixel server with a couple of friends, and i was wondering if it is possible to get a friends list somehow?

Ive had people ask me to add them as a friend but i have no idea how or where lol.

I did a bit of searching on this forum and it seems that theres no way in normal minecraft to do it, but apparently you can do it via a mod?

I was wondering if anyone has any information about this mod that they could link me to, or let me know if its worth getting?

Does it mess up normal minecraft at all and is it worth bothering with, like do many people even use it?

    Thanks for any help =)

posted a message on Using a controller on PC Minecraft

Hi all, I just have a couple of quick questions if thats ok :)

I started playing Minecraft on console last year and have recently been checking out the PC version, I understand that PC minecraft is a lot better with a lot more features, but I really don't like using a keyboard and mouse, I miss my controller, so I was wondering if it is possible to use my Xbox One or PS4 controller to play Minecraft on PC?

I like to relax and lay down in bed while playing minecraft and a keyboard and mouse just doesn't suit me and it feels weird to me not using a controller to play.

Also, I was wondering if it is possible to quit a minecraft session on PC without saving? On console there is the option to exit the game without saving, but it seems on PC that everything that I do gets saved even if I don't want it to...

I have a tendency to run into disaster xD , like a few days ago when I went on a 2 hour mining trip and ended up with 21 diamonds which I was storing in a chest underground and literally as I finished mining and went to get the diamonds out of the chest I got creepered and it destroyed the layer of stone that I was standing on and myself and my chest of diamonds fell into the lava underneath :SSSS: :(

That is the level of disaster that frequents me and I wana be able to exit without saving if possible!

    Thanks for any help :)

posted a message on Sharing worlds with friends?

Hi all, apologies if this has been answered before but I have searched around and not found an answer :(

Basically I was just wondering if 4J will ever add the ability to share your maps with your friends on next gen consoles?

I ask this because my friends and I have been building a world together for months and months and soon I will not be online for a fair while, I would love to be able to give the world to them so that they can continue to build on it and enjoy it, they put as much effort into the world as I did, and it just seems kindve unfair that if I'm not playing, they can't use the map that they spend so long on.

I would love to be able to share the map with them so they have their own copy :).

I know that this opens up issues as far as people trading maps to gain trophies and achievements etc. but that could be easily solved if they just make it so that any maps that get shared have trophies / achievements disabled on them.

Please 4J can this happen? <3

posted a message on pretty new to this game, where do i find gun powder?
Well there is a trophy for killing a creeper with an arrow so you can get that.

I find the best way to deal with creepers when using a sword is to sprint just before you hit them, this knocks creepers back a long way and you can more easily avoid them exploding.

That would be cool, but gold is pretty much useless anyway, I wish it had more uses than powered rail.

If you're asking about what gives the most powerful enchantments, this setup is the way to go:

I do believe though that on console version you don't need the top row, as I was able to get level 30 enchantments with far less bookshelves than this.

posted a message on Passing the Time Trophy
    Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone else is having problems getting the "passing the time" trophy to pop on PS4?

From what I understand you need to play for 100 minecraft days (33.3 real life hours) in a survival world.

I started a new world a few weeks ago to work on getting all the trophies for the platinum trophy and I believe I have put in well over 33 real life hours into this world, but I still have not got this trophy.

I only play on normal difficulty, creative mode has never been used on this world and I have never had host priviledges enabled, and all the other trophies are working just fine.

I have been playing on this world every night, for at least 3 or 4 hours for the past few weeks, so by my estimate I have put in at least 60 real life hours into it, and after realising I was still missing this trophy I even loaded up my game and left my character in my house all day while I was at school and all night last night while I slept, adding another 12+ hours to my total.

I don't understand why this hasn't popped :\ , I have more than met the requirements.

Is there some requirement that I don't know about?

Thanks for any help, this trophy is really annoying me as it's the only one causing me issues.

posted a message on Backup Solution 4J could use on XB1
    Hi all,

I thought of what I think is a good idea that 4J could implement to help protect people from losing their game saves to corruptions.

As you may have experienced yourself, losing a minecraft world that you have spent hundreds of hours on can be very frustrating and upsetting, and from my experience the worlds do unfortunately tend to corrupt fairly often, not just on xbox but on all versions of minecraft.

On the PC, Xbox 360, PS3 & PS4 versions of minecraft it is very easy to guard against save corruptions by backing up your game saves (making copies of the save folder on PC and transferring your saves to USB stick on the consoles).

I do this regularly to make sure that I always have a fairly recent backup of my world available incase my save gets corrupted.

The Xbox One however does not allow backing up of save files via external USB storage, the only backup function available is the Xbox One cloud system.

The cloud system itself appears to work just fine, it is not an issue in the technical sense, but the main issue the cloud system has is that it is constantly updating the cloud version of your save file, so if your save file does become corrupted, that file will also be added to your cloud if you are online and your cloud version will also be corrupted, hence the cloud save will be just as useless to you as the save on your hard drive, making the cloud system useless for protecting save files from corruption.

An easy solution to this problem on the Xbox One console would be for 4J to implement the ability to make a copy of your world in the game.

I don't mean be able to export it via usb or transfer it to another xbox live account, just simply duplicate the world on your account.

I am fairly certain this was a feature on the XB360 and PS3 versions of the game, so I don't see why it couldn't be implemented on the Xbox One also.

This feature would allow players to make a copy of the world every so often and keep it in-case their main world file gets corrupted, and they would only lose the progress that they had made since they last make a copy of their world.

It would be such a simple & easy feature to implement, it was already implemented in XB360 etc, so please 4J could you look at putting the ability to duplicate your world onto the XB1 version also.

It would give players who are putting hundreds of hours into their creations a lot more peace of mind :).

    Thank you!

posted a message on Buying minecraft as a minor?
So I'm back with more issues / questions

I went to purchase Minecraft for xbox one today and I get an error that says:

"Sorry. Purchase of this content is currently not allowed for child and teen accounts."

    I didn't realise I had to be 18 to purchase it :(

As a way around this, I got my friend to log into her account on my xbox one and download the game which she had purchased.

Now that she downloaded minecraft to my xbox one, it works when I go onto my profile :)

But, this got me wondering, since I haven't actually purchased the game, will my save files etc. still be getting backed up onto the cloud? If I play minecraft on a different Xbox One in the future, will my saves etc. be available via cloud, or do those services only work for people who actually purchased the game? Because officially, i haven't bought it coz it won't let me :(

    Thanks!

posted a message on Backing up my XB1 world
    Hi all,

Sorry for another possibly dumb question, but I was wondering about the process for backing up a minecraft xbox one world.

I played a lot of minecraft on the xbox 360 and I used to copy my save file to USB stick regularly in-case my world got corrupt or something, and it saved me a couple of times when my world died, I was able to go back to my last backup and continue playing on it.

Now I have the Xbox One version and i noticed that the xbox one doesn't let you copy your game saves to USB anymore, the only option for backup is the cloud storage.

I am a bit worried that the cloud storage may not be very good for backing up my world, because as I understand it the cloud uploads your save file very regularly (each time you save it possibly?) and if my world gets corrupt, the cloud system might just upload my corrupted minecraft world as my backup and therefore my backup would also be corrupt and it would serve no use.

I'm not sure if I am explaining that very well lol, but basically if the Xbox One updates your game save to cloud each time you save, and your world gets corrupted during a save, wouldn't the corrupted file be saved onto your cloud, meaning that you would be left with no safe copy of your world anymore?? Or does the cloud save multiple versions of your world so that you can go back in time and choose a non corrupt upload?

Another question I have is how does the cloud backup your file if you are playing offline (i will be losing my internet for a while shortly), since you're offline you obviously cant connect to the cloud, so does the file just save onto your Xbox One hard drive and then upload to the cloud the next time you connect to the internet?

Thanks again for any help, sorry if I was confusing lol.
