As promised, I've released the 1.2.4 source code. Beware though, you'll need intermediate knowledge of Java to get this working - additional instructions on the blog.

I was actually going to include the portability feature in 1.2.4, but didn't have enough time to test it. Perhaps when I release the source someone can add the finishing touches.

Sorry that I've been inactive, been very busy with work. I may try to find time to release the source of Minecrafter, so someone can continue maintaining it. It's funny, because from the time (January'ish) I said I was busy with work and would neglect support duties, hits to the minecrafter website have doubled, from 1,000 hits per day at peak to 2,000. Some things never turn out how you want it :-/

btw, exporting is disabled on the latest release.

Make sure no program is using minecraft.jar. That includes Minecraft. Try restarting Minecrafter and launching the mod package first. if that doesn't work, try launching semi-permanent.

Ok thanks for the quick reply. Is there any way to compile a package into a .zip to be used as a complete texture pack? I don't use any mods, I just use Minecrafter because it's the only way I know how to make my own texture pack!

Normally I just email my friends the package file and have them copy any paste it in and it works flawlessly, but for my friends with Macs this is not possible as it does not recognize the metadata (so we have to go in and manually set up 5 texture packs worth of options).

Any help in this regard would be awesome. Thanks again.

Very weird. I purposely went out of my way to use a JSON library in hopes that it was OS independent. Could you upload the package which doesn't work on Mac? I've tried copying Windows created packages to Mac, haven't had any problems so far.

    You're welcome guys.

There's this project Shockah wants to setup, a dedicated mod site with a mod loader which can automatically setup the mod for you + maintain compatibility. If you think you can help out on coding or even web design, check out the thread: http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=96087.

Potentially Minecrafter will be the mod loader.

I'm actually having a problem with the new version, where custom water and lava and animated water/lava is causing problems connecting to an online server (and logging into minecraft generally). It's so weird that it's doing this, but as soon as I uncheck all those boxes in minecrafter, I don't have the same problem.

    Any idea what's going on?

Perhaps the server you're joining is using an older version? I wouldn't know, I haven't played MP for a long time. If it is due to the HD Fix, then there is nothing I can do, as that is Xau's area.

    **Version 1.2.4 has been released!

    Download Links

    ------------

    new in 1.2.4:
-Updated MCPatcher to 1.1.1 supporting Minecraft 1.2.0_01
-Better handling of corrupt mod packages created by versions older than 1.2.2, but you won’t be able to delete them if you try to edit them beforehand. Workaround: restart Minecrafter and delete the package.
-Horizontal scroll on Select base folder
-Better crash management – for veterans, this doesn’t affect you, but for new users, this should prevent you from stuffing up your Minecraft folder now if you launched multiple times without proper termination.
-Catch all exceptions that could occur if a zip causes an issue.

I assumed Linux users were power users thus could figure it out for themselves :tongue.gif:. But even with specific Windows and Mac tutorials, you could use either to achieve the same result. The only difference is the visual styling of each OS.

Sorry for the lack of updates. I haven't actually tested 1.2.3 on 1.20_01, but it seems from the MCPatcher thread that it was only custom water and lava that was borked. Xau also changed the structure of of custom water/lava patching so that'll take a bit to test (previously it was replacing a few lines and repackaging the new class files).

I'm quite busy with work and all, as I decided to step it up a notch and work more hours for hopefully a bigger payoff (I kind of run my own business). I also had some new code written for crash management and better startup checking, and I haven't had a lot of time to test that code, so I might not be able to release that code till later. Although I might release the crash management code with the updated HD fix.

Depending on how I go, I might need to postpone this project until further notice. If there is someone out there who is passionate about this program and knows how to code, then I might release the source. Hell, I might just release the source publicly anyway so hopefully someone might continue development. I have a hard enough time trying to dedicate time to playing Minecraft let alone develop tools for it. It's even harder when you actually need to try out mods frequently to make sure the program covers the bases.

32px, nice! BTW, the customizer only supports 16px, are you considering providing customization options for 32px?

No, your current minecraft.jar will be treated like a original minecraft.jar, but have the mods already applied. It's recommended that you delete your minecraft.jar and start a fresh and add mods via Minecrafter.

Weird. Minecrafter shouldn't be causing the crash, so all I can recommend is slowly recreate your mod package by adding each mod in one by one and testing.

It seems that you've pointed to the wrong launcher when you first tried to launch Minecraft through Minecrafter. Are you sure you pointed to minecraft.app?
