posted a message on Getting an Error in my Development Console
Current Problem: I cant seem to be able to play online. My only option with the big button in the bottom of the launcher is "Play Offline". I want to play on a minecraft server and I can't connect to it in offline mode. There seems to be an error in my development console which I have included below. I would like to know if this is a problem with my computer and if so, how I could go about fixing / troubleshooting it. Efforts are very much appreciated.

Below is a copy of my development console. This is everything that is printed to the console when the application is launched. I haven't clicked anything in the application, this is just on the launch.

It sounds like you haven't installed permissions. You will want to install a permissions plugin and read tutorials on how to set it up.

Also, I believe this is the wrong section.

Well if they don't know how to spawn them in then you can refer them to the wiki but you don't have to make a thread about it.

It is weird that you say that because if I was in the first version of Minecraft Alpha then I think I would have loved to see the next update.

posted a message on Minecraft/Why These Big-Wig Companies Ignore it?
That is one interesting post. I would like to direct your attention to many games which are similar to minecraft such as cubeworld, terraria and many more. There is even a website called games like minecraft. http://gameslikeminecraft.net/

I think the difference between the MMORPG market and the creative sandbox market is the mass dominance minecraft has. Minecraft is by far the largest game in it's market when there are plenty of popular MMORPG games such as LoL, WoW and many other as you pointed out. Minecraft stands out and makes its competitors less obvious while MMORPG's are in a constant competition and their competitors are very obvious.

    You can't. Sorry.

These commands have been disabled for server security. I don't know of any way to enable them.

The only thing that I dislike is the developers. They are awful.

Slow, and often add things that aren't fully thought out, and aren't quite finished. they also seem to fail to add things we need in any timely fashion.

Compressing redstone dust, coal, and wheat into blocks for instance. Smelting netherrack into nether bricks. And so on.

Development on minecraft has always been comparatively slow to other games which are developed by large companies. I can understand your frustration but I think when they do put the content out it is always content that I enjoy.

One thing people mainly hated is the 1.8 beta update.
This update completely changed almost everything.
You used to think carrying around food was good where if your health got low you would just instantly eat and be healed.
People from way back to 1.7.3 beta were so used to this,
that when they added the hunger bar and slower eating, they didn't like that because it changed how you would work things.
you used to be able to take out a hoard of zombies as long as you had food.

It is strange because minecraft beta 1.8 was my favourite update of all time. So many new awesome things were released like dungeons, stronghold and abandoned mineshafts. Hunger was an awesome update it added a certain skill level to be able to survive in the game because you used to be nearly invincible if you had food on you.

Its a problem with any kind of forum, the happy customers are playing their game leaving mostly the unhappy ones to complain on the forums.

That could be true, then again I am a happy customer and an active member of this forum.

I've been a supporter of new updates until this latest one. I have no intention of updating at this point. It seems like the focus of the game is shifting from sandbox construction exploration game to combat game. First they made skeletons tougher in the last update, I wasn't a huge fan of that, but i learned to live with it. But now they've made it so that if you fight a single zombie, you're stuck in a an endless zombie attack until daybreak. On top of that they've made healing more difficult, consuming food in order to heal rather than healing naturally as long as food is full.

Horses seem intriguing, but I'm not willing to pay the price of the combat updates in order to try them out. I've also heard they changed how boats were controlled, which weren't great to begin with, now they sound absolutely terrible. I don't travel by boat incredibly often, but when I do, I don't want to deal with the type of controls I've heard described.

I'm perfectly content to stay with my current version for the time being. If some amazing update comes in the future, I may consider it, but it would have to be pretty good for me to accept this new focus on combat that the game is taking.

Don't be silly. Ever since they created the first monsters minecraft has been about the ability to survive, explore and possibly defend your creations. If you want a "sandbox construction exploration game" why don't you just play in creative mode?

posted a message on Clay Improvements
I just thought I would pitch an idea to you guys.

Can we all try to persuade the developers to make clay more commonly generated throughout the world or have it somehow easier to obtain? With the new update hardened clay has become a high demand building material for most servers and my predictions are people are going to harvest clay and deplete their world's clay source of possible ruin the minecraft experience for people on servers. I am starting to see this problem occur on some of the servers I play on. Everyone wants clay but there isn't any left.

I think we should have some sort of renewable method of obtaining clay similar to they way you can plant trees to grow them back. Perhaps we can somehow extract clay from dirt as dirt has some grey specks in it's texture and this would easily solve the problem. If you have any better ideas post them below.

It is ruining the oceans for servers and ruining the minecraft experience for people who want to build with clay. Please consider fixing this, mojang.
