Hey all! First of all, thanks for stopping by to take a look.
So I've been trying to find a Minecraft mod/modpack that fits my craving and nothing seems to be out there at this point, so I'd like to present this as a sort of mod request; throwing the idea out there in case anyone wants to make it. I have some experience with Java but not enough to make a whole Minecraft mod on my own.
What I imagine is a metalworking mod, with a tier-based leveling system. You would have two sets of experience gains; the first being individual material experience - the more you work a material, the more experienced you become with it and the better your tools/armor can be. Simultaneously, your overall metalworking level would increase, regardless of the material you use. Once you earn enough experience, you would be thrust into the next tier of materials you're capable of working and gain the ability to earn experience with those as well.
Ideally, this would be utilizing the ideas of the smeltery and individual tool components from Tinker's Construct (TiC), potentially leaking over into armor as well as tools and weapons. Perhaps more blacksmith-centric blocks could be implemented as well to polish off the feel (i.e. forges, vices, anvils, and hammers).
All of the above would be core mechanics of the mod, but I could see other skills being implemented as well (things like woodworking for staves or wands and bowyering/fletching for bows and arrows). Also potentially an economy system and procedurally generated heroes/adventurers who come buy the tools you make off of you, providing you currency you could use to buy more materials or favors you could spend to have them achieve certain loot drops from certain quests/monsters. All of that, of course, is just extra ideas.
Anyway, that's about all I've got. If you know of something like this that already exists, please don't hesitate to let me know so I can jump into it right away! Otherwise, if you have any ideas or comments, feel free to share. And if you're interested in making it, I'd be honored to work with you on the project to bring it to life. Even just ideasmithing if not with the programming aspect.
Anyway, regardless, thanks for taking the time to read through this!
EDIT: I realize as I'm looking through the forum and scouting around on Google that there are plenty of mods that are geared toward this idea but none that really hit this one on the head. Blacksmithing and metallurgy are fairly common but not in this respect.
So I can move around using WASD and when I click on the mouse button, it does what it's supposed to. All the other buttons work just fine. But when I move my mouse around at all to look around, the game freaks out. If I slide the mouse a fraction of an inch, Steve's head will look straight up at the sky. And if I move it left to right, it just glitches and jumps all over and locks the game up... It's weird and makes Minecraft completely unplayable. I have tried reinstalling Minecraft; no dice. Tried reinstalling Java; no dice. Tried rebooting my computer; no dice. Nothing is working and this makes no sense. It doesn't do this with any other game I play and when I hit escape to bring up the ingame menu, the cursor slides around like normal. It's just in game I can't look around without the game freaking out. And I tried turning my sensitivity down, but it still does it.

Any news on the incompatibility issue? I can't get this to load on a server; it crashes on world generation.

Is this still in development or has the project been scrapped?

Is this still in production or has the concept been scrapped?
