Tried searching all over, but I couldn't find the answer that I was looking for. So, the question is: Can I use MCPatcher for Snapshot versions of Minecraft, and if so, where do I need to put it so that it will work with the Snapshot versions?
Btw. does anyone know cool maps to take screenshots of?
This may be a bit late, but I have a map that is specific for testing out textures, I have gotten some good looking screenshots out of that place with the biome rooms. PonzooSaus' Resource Pack Tour Map
Why use this map? Rather than an array or strip of blocks to test your resource pack, this map provides a biome environment so you can see how each block will appear in their natural Survival states.
After many requests, I have made this map available to resource pack creators for testing. Inside, you will find 2 levels with all the types of biome rooms, a whole level of mobs and a master level with the redstone and big bads (Wither, Ender Dragon, Ghast).
Fixed growth stages for veggies, wheat, cocoa beans
Armor sets on display
16 Separate Biome Rooms
ALL mobs spawned and immobilized (including all 35 breeds of horse)
And much more...
I am hoping that this helps a lot of content creators test out their resource packs. If you have any comments, suggestions or criticisms, please don't hesitate to let me know below!
I have always found it difficult to figure out the updates on resource packs from week to week. The update logs give some decent information, but unfortunately, its just information! That's why I decided Minecraft needed a weekly video showing the actual in-game footage of the things changed in your favorite resource packs!
As Pack creators, I respect your input on these videos. If there is something you would like to see presented differently, please let me know.
Keeping detailed update logs helps a bunch when it comes to preparing and recording these videos!
Thanks for your reply, I took a look at all the things you mentioned. I wasn't quite sure where to put this thread so that it wasn't too spammy (I avoided the main Resource Packs forum for this reason). There are so many forums on the site I didn't even realize there was a Video section way beyond all the platform versions of the game. Your suggestions to add in spoilers is a good idea, and I will start doing that.
Alvoria also took a look at the videos and mentioned some similar things, like the 32 bit and the wool being hardcoded.
It can be difficult to get a good look at a texture pack while keeping the video to a decent duration, so there will be things I miss, but you were able to catch them without me directly mentioning them.
I have no clue what Z-fighting means, if you are able to explain that?
Instinct has told me that there are errors with the cauldron and iron bars in the past, but when I have mentioned it people have said they can't do anything about it or that the issue is on my end - I will be pointing this out more often!
The end portal animation thing: I'm still not sure how I would refer to its changes, just recoloring? "end portal has a different background, nicely recolored"?
Thanks again for taking a look, really appreciate the feedback. I want to give people a thorough view of texture packs, without it being an hour long video. Anything else you notice or would prefer to see in a video that I am missing or doing wrong, please let me know!
Good job updating this packs, it looks great. I know you have a cinematic for the pack, but it's difficult to get a real good look at the details. I made a video of my first impressions, with a more detailed look at most of the blocks in the game. Its amazing how complete this pack is, so often I see rabbits and horses overlooked, but not this time!
