Okay, now I got the file :D

And I see some changes - first of all Monoliths are not black bricks anymore and they are frigging scary since you can alwatys see them. Only one thing: maybe you shouldn't call them "monoliths" anymore since they're just eyes. What else? Chunkloaded dimensions with golden door, right? And more-of-a-PITA recipies with World Threads. :3

BTW, have you thought about adding different sizes of pocket dimensions? AFAIR the current ones are 3x3 chunks which is enough for most uses but might be not enough for some big projects or stuff.

Hello and again welcome to the Aperture Science Enrichment Center

Sorry, I can't access build.technicpack.net server for some reason - I'm getting gateway timeouts. Could you please use some other file hosting, at least temporarily? I'd like to add the mod to DW20 or Monster modpack, because I kinda don't like Mystcraft-style of travel and it doesn't add cool dungeons, pocket dimensions and pitch black blocks :3

Also, what's new in the mod since Monoliths addition? Any new dungeons? Other stuff?

Tested Rotarycraft on our server tonight. Steelmaking works, although the gunpowder requirement is a little... strange. The crafting table? A little redundant (with mods, that brings the server to a total of four different crafting tables).

Then we tried to build the ore processing device, and that's when everything went downhill. The guide gives the machine's requirements at 512 Nm @ 8192 rad/s -- just under 42kW. That's an absurd number of DC generators or windmills at theoretical max but just inside the power range of three steam engines. Okay, that's doable. Three engines later we've got a problem: we have to supply the engines with water. Which means a pump. Which means its own engines. The pump wants 8192W, or eight DC engines joined together. Done. We set it up and... it was rapidly emptying the pool we were using as a water source, and not giving the source blocks a chance to refill. And then the steam engine exploded. The pump wasn't getting water to the engine fast enough. So we switched to a Buildcraft pump and a combustion engine for maximum water flow and tried again. Still not able to keep up with the steam engine's demands. Not only that the GUI showed that the water we were pumping into the engine was simply disappearing. Even when the engine was off.

Then we remembered we'd need lubricant for the gearboxes that would be converting the 48kW to the appropriate torque and speed. And we'd need to set up an entirely new production line just for that, with more engines to power a grinder. And more engines to cool those engines. And we weren't sure whether or not the material ratings in the guide meant anything at all when you can't really convert Nm to Pascals anyway.

It's engines and gearboxes all the way down.

Some simplification suggestions: Make the math easier. Engine output would be measured in total kW and given a speed rating: High Medium or Low. Then streamline the gearboxes down to ones able to convert between these speeds, applying a multiplier as the power goes in either direction. Add an engine that burns solid fuels like BC's Stirling. Give shafts kW ratings and maximum speeds. Make the normal furnace's heat limit via friction heating explicit in the warning. Add an automatic transmission gearbox that can transmit power in any direction without needing to be explicitly oriented or dedicated to transmitting or receiving power, and can convert between any speed with a small efficiency penalty. Consider adding other lubricant recipes from things like rotten flesh grease or (magma) slimeballs. Make junctions and direction-changing gears as cheap as shafts, or failing that consider taking the mod in an electrical direction, simplifying power transport tremendously for items in the mod that are obviously electrically-powered and are much more likely to be scattered around a particular base than concentrated near a powerplant. Make ethanol a liquid compatible with Forestry's instead of an item.

Ore processing device in this mod is pretty mid-to-late-game since it's roughly 5x gain for ores. Gasoline engines is what you need. Make a big reed farm to make yeast and ethanol sludge. (fermenter can be powered by a DC engine)
Early power solution - steam engines. One engine powers the pump that supplies water to all the engines and other ones produce power. Heat source - lava. To prevent overheating use cooling fins. Then you want to make canola farm and produce lubricant using a grinder.

Also, read the FAQ. Reika will kill you because you suggesting something that FAQ clearly says not to suggest.

Not the railgun crash, but GUIs. Or you did fix that, too?

I still cannot reproduce. Forge version?

Latest. Downloaded like 2 hours ago. I'm not at home so can't check the exact version.

    EDIT: It should be 9.11.1.933

    1. I will fix this.
    2. Try it in a new world. Also try with just RC+API+Forge.
    3. Not a bug - you need a ghast tear.
    4. Not a bug - pipes only carry world-type liquids, and fuel lines do not connect to pumps. That said, I need to provide another way to get non-world liquids out of reservoirs.
    5. Investigating.

    Derp... forgot the ghast tear.
I tried fresh install - only DragonAPI and RotaryCraft. Both GUI bugs are still there

Hey! Here come the bugs! (Oh, you will hate me! :D)

    1) Railgun GUI still crashes.
    http://pastebin.com/kvcmtZUC

    2) CVT GUI on worm gearbox. Maybe some hidden mod conflict? If you cannot replicate, can you please say which direction should I dig?
    http://imgur.com/e2jxd0B,ZQb99Bj,wBxW0RQ,VNuQjlg#1

    3) Fractionation unit does nothing. Power source - gas turbine
    http://imgur.com/e2jxd0B,ZQb99Bj,wBxW0RQ,VNuQjlg#2

    4) Jet fuel and reservoir/pump
Pump doesn't connect to fuel line.
    http://imgur.com/e2jxd0B,ZQb99Bj,wBxW0RQ,VNuQjlg#0
If I replace it with liquid pipe, it does suck the fuel, but doesn't output it anywhere and also liquid pipe doesn't connect to controller.
    http://imgur.com/e2jxd0B,ZQb99Bj,wBxW0RQ,VNuQjlg#3
It also doesn't output jet fuel to BC pipes, but does empty the reservoir

    5) Item Vacuum GUI messed up. There might be the same issue as with worm gearbox. If you can't replicate, please say what should I check. Thank you.

Also, I am working on UE support.

Umm. UE seems to support BC power natively. Are you sure that you need a separate bridge for UE?

Reeds can be autoharvested - use pistons. I did not offer an autoharvest because that is another tenet of RotaryCraft - do not make good, efficient vanilla farm designs obsolete.

And the Fermenter works fine with hoppers.

Dagnabbit, that happens they you play modded minecraft a lot...

    1) As it is not a cellulose-based plant (from which ethanol is made). For the same reason, seeds, cocoa beans, and the like are not accepted.
    2) Not a bug - sugar cane is hard and woody, not harvestable with air currents like this.
    3) If you saw anywhere saying "yeast is not consumed", you were looking at sources six months out of date. Also, full automation is not impossible, and the yeast being consumed or not has little bearing on this. The handbook tells you how to automate the fermenter.
    4) This comes out of the realism - Phosphorus and Sulfur are required to make HSLA steel.

When I say that it's cannot be automated I mean that your mod doesn't have tools to harvest everything I need for ethanol not "you cannot insert or extract items into it". It doesn't like vanilla hoppers, though only BC pipes and such stuff.
But anyways, yeast requirements mean that I need to automate reeds production and as you said it cannot be harvested.

I started a "test run" - an 1.5.2 SSP world to see how it looks in real game.
    Some things I noticed
    1) Fermenter doesn't accept wheat as "plant substance".
    2) Fan cannot harvest sugarcane.
    3) I saw somewhere, that yeast is not used during operation, but it is.
These three things mean that I cannot make automated ethanol production. Maybe it's OK, but maybe that means that I need to rely on other mods to make that.
    4) Gunpowder requirements. I didn't see that in spotlight I believe... Even though it requires very low amount of gunpowder, creeper hunting is a pain in the butt since they like to blow up, wreck the landscape and give you no gunpowder.

Hey Reika, is there a way to shut off engines while applying redstone? I've tried Redstone torches and levers, even have the engine control unit under it. It's a gas turbine
I believe Reika changed that. You have to shift-rightclick with a screwdriver on the control unit to set the engine to "off".

Yeah, I was enlisted in the navy right after high school so after seeing the jet physics firsthand, I am happy with the way Reika coded his jet engines (gotta be careful around the intake) lol

That sounds cool! And that means that Reika made cool stuff, too :D
    Quote from Reika

    No.
One, jet fuel is a highly complex mix of chemicals even before you consider the additives like 2,6 ditertiary-butyl-4-methyl-phenol and Diethylene Glycol Monomethyl Ether (autoignition suppression and anti-icing, respectively, and those are only two of dozens).
Two, I take the stance that BC fuel is closer to gasoline, both in physical properties (color, density, et cetera) and in terms of energy output (and my RC-BC conversions are based on that assumption).

Diesel on top, Gasoline on bottom.
    ~snip~

Ah, OK, I was confused by GregTech that assumes that it's diesel fuel.
Thanks for the explanation, Reika. Well, I got it, but am I right that gasoline and jet fuel are made out of different fractions of oil?

If it is, even by your admission, a "stupid idea", why would I do it?

I mean more useful recipes, not just adding regular ones. For now it can be used only for that glass (umm. Don't find myself in the dire need of blastproof glass too often) and steel. Maybe other hard materials or stuff?

Also, regarding toxicity, I will let the MSDS do the talking:
    ~snip~

You didn't need to prove that, I just said that I didn't know that :3
    But thank you anyways

Especially if I do it realistically. I do not think MC can handle fluid dynamics. Plus, it will be a bit of a stretch to allow Steve to just build an A380...

A380 would be too much... Maybe a light jet?
