posted a message on Thread was Automatically Marked as Spam

Rather unintuitive to use reports to get a fix when usually they are for removal.

Not necessarily, we use reports for a whole bunch of info. Everything is manually reviewed, it's not like we click a button on a report and a post is deleted, the member is warned, and the report is marked complete. Having information reported means that we not only get to it quicker, but allows us to track data on what could be making the filter oversensitive.

So while yes, posting here will eventually get seen (And typically within the same day), a report gets it done quickly.

There may be duplicates. If possible I'd also like the duplicate post removed
    Thanks

Fixed. Our spam filter can be a little aggressive on members.

Ive been trying to get my post in PC Servers deleted using the report function and selecting move/delete post. It's been two days sense I first requested it and have a few more times sense then. Was wondering if anyone knew if this is normal or if it shouldn't take this long.

Our forum team is entirely volunteer and has shrunk as the years have gone on. We all have other jobs and responsibilities on top of managing the forums - along with dealing with situations that are "higher risk" than processing delete my post reports. If you report the post, it will be processed it just takes some time. Personally - this past week I've been very busy with work and haven't had a chance to even log onto the forums. Some of our other staff members are in the same boat.

Looking at your profile, this has been completed though.

posted a message on Multiple users having trouble making posts

Okay so I don't know if the mods are checking the java section much but Master Caver, Princess Garnet, and now me are having trouble making posts where we get these weird 403 or Forbidden errors. I also had trouble uploading pictures with a similar error the other day.

Ralex made a commend about this on MasterCaver's thread:

What it sounds like is happening is that your post is triggering Cloudflare's security (which looks at the contents and would stop posts if it thinks it's bad). It's... not a great system, and is just trial and error to find what triggers it.

Chances are it's the same thing. Could you link the thread as well though just to double check?

posted a message on Is there a way to find the threads you have replied to?

I have been trying to find my old PS3 gamertag. I remember replying to a post looking for people to join their server back in 2020 with my gamertag in it. Is there any way I could find that thread so I could find my old gamertag? Thanks in advance!

You can use the search feature (Very top of the page). Honestly, that will be your best bet to find the old thread/your old profile.

posted a message on Forum is undercounting posts

Maybe inactive accounts with fewer than 10 posts should be deleted

There's really no reason to. We gain nothing by having them registered - if they were just deleted, all their posts would go with them. Loads of support threads that people asked questions on that could help others would just be gone.

posted a message on Why is this forum so inactive?

I dislike the off topic strictness too and this is why I am so inactive - but also you and Agrigormortis (?? how do you spell that guy's name) go off topic TONS into your own views/interests/opinions. Long long posts I can't ever finish because I'm tired and there's always more, and then other people join you sometimes.

I didn't want to bother you two about this for a long time because activity good but it has gotten on my nerves substantially and now the topic of activity is relevant

    Ditto, read up

I notice TMC tends to go into intricate detail on everything while Agent tends to go into dividuated opinion/community view.

Either way it's a bizarre amount of information overload and it really kills my interest to read or reply to conversations. I feel stupid if I try to and I get bored or overwhelmed very quickly of the same shuffles of case studies/statistics/polls nonstop.

Mods, if you choose to read this (long hidden and imo very valid) criticism as personal attacks, I'm just going to ghost you again. The forum is not worth my nerves for a few good seeds.

You will also note that I tend to mirror whoever I reply to - which includes several arguments with moderation and with Agent in DMs as well, and a few other people here who were bad faith posters genuinely or just clever spammers.

Mirroring isn't me insulting you, it's me trying to keep your temper down by speaking in a way familiar to how you write - something I used to cope with bullies and bad parenting. Sorry to get into that, but it's relevant because people point it out on forums when discussing each other.

I just want to clarify that none of the forum staff would view this as criticism. We just have rules to enforce, rules that exist for a variety of reasons and without specific examples of rules I can't really say why they exist. However, by all means if you have genuine constructive feedback for the staff itself, the rules, the way the forums are set up, we would absolutely love to hear it. From reading this thread, it's apparent that you all believe that we're too strict with our off topic rule enforcements. What do you believe is an appropriate change to this rule? Where should "the line" be? What do you believe should be different on the forums as a whole? I would love to pass on the suggestions you have, but the biggest thing is it's hard for us to know what our community believes, and we really don't get too much feedback when we propose changes as well.

I literally navigated to here to ask the same question. With the way the developers literally never say anything, news posts are slow/redundant, and the forum being flooded with spam at all times, it just seems to me like this is the most abhorrently bad official forum I've ever seen for a game as big as Minecraft.

The forums are an unofficial forum for Minecraft, which is why Mojang doesn't respond or say anything here. Spam has been a bit of a tough issue for us to tackle over the last several months if not over a year by this point - there's been several sources essentially soliciting us for their spam, and while our volunteer team and spam filter try to keep up - there's always a point where persistence will push through. Our team has shrunk over the years but we certainly do what we can to keep the forums clean and open for conversation.

I've gotten warned twice, once for "HoUxEs" and one for necroposting, and now I have set my location to "Hans Island" witch is a spec of rock in between Canada and Greenland(Denmark). Will I get banned?

You'll be fine, just be sure to review the rules. Hopefully this will be the end of you receiving warnings - but the way the system works is as you break more rules, you gain more points. As you gain points, you'll receive posting suspensions of various lengths. However, as time passes, your warnings will expire and the points won't be held against you.

So I remember having a Minecraft forum account in the past, but when I tried to log in recently, I couldn't find my account!

I think I made it YEARS ago, with a Mojang account... But it's been so long since I logged in. Is it possible it was deleted?

If you're talking about a forums account however, we've never had Mojang account integration. If you know what email you could've had, you can contact our support team and they can help you recover your forum account.

I have an old account I made as a kid, pretty sure I never linked my google twitch or anything to it, I sent an email at this forum's support email and received no response, how do I delete it?

Contacting the forum support is the proper action and the only way to get your account deleted. How long have you been waiting? You should expect a few days.

posted a message on Datapack, Question & Suggestion

The question is where I should currently be posting things concerning Datapacks?
The suggestion is making a category on Minecraft forums for Datapacks.

Datapacks are posted in the Mapping and Modding forum section. For a list, you can just click this link. I've applied the filter so you can see. Depending on what it is, you could post in two places. If you need help installing a datapack/technical assistance for it, you can post in the Mods Discussion forum again with the datapack tag. Again, this section is great for asking questions about datapacks. If you need support though, you could post in the Java Eddition Support section. This section would be great for if you're not able to launch or problems that could come from other things besides the datapack.
