    posted a message on [1.7][1.6] Ender IO - How many pipes in one block?

    Having a problem with the ender-rail setup. I've been playing the FTB Direwolf 20 1.7 mod pack on my server while following along on his videos and creating his builds along with him. I am at the part where he makes a really over complicated rail setup using the dimensional transceiver with ender rail to go between the base camp and the quarry. The two dimensional transceivers are connected with power, they both have the same rail channel set to sending and receiving but the transport only works one way. I can get from the quarry to my base perfectly. When I try to go from the bas to the quarry the mine cart just rolls over the ender rail as if it isn't there. It is acting as if the send/recieve channel has not be set properly going one way, but as far as I can see it is.

    This is the transceiver that is supplying the power, mind you. It is definitely connected to the other one. It just won't send. I've restarted the server, double checked everything with the channels and power, moved the transceiver setup around to different areas. . . triple checked the settings. . . used different dimensional transceivers and rail. . .. nothing is helping. I can go from my quarry to my base camp on a mine cart perfectly, I just can't go from the base camp to the quarry. I swear, the rail tab settings are set the same. I even tried deleting the channels and setting them all up again on both ends. . . . beating my head against the wall.

    I browsed through github and didn't see the issue reported as a bug. . . I also read back a few pages here to see if it came up. Nothing seems to be mentioned which makes me think it is only me, somehow, but I don't know what else to try. Anyone have any ideas about conflicts or whatever?


    UPDATE: I was also having trouble getting the dimensional transceiver to work when hooking the pipes up directly to it rather than the rail system. A chunk loader seems to have fixed that so I am assuming I had some sort of chunk loading problem. Direwolf20 didn't have the issue but I noticed my quarry is starting on a far chunk not the one next to it. I also may not have had a chunk loading device installed in my base camp yet, though I thought I did.

    A Bauble's item (the Sojourner's Sash) deleted my daughters character data over LAN!! The Botania mod author says it is a LAN related Bauble's bug not something on the Botania side so I am reporting it here. Sorry if it is known already. I am still playing catchup on the DW20 pack on FTB.

    The item didn't work for anyone but me, the host, in my LAN world. There is a trick that is suggested in WIKI comments that other players could try logging into a single player world, cheating the sash to get the power, then logging back into the LAN world to make the sash work correctly. It did get it working, but it also deleted all of the players character data and logged them in as a new character. . . except they had two sashes and nothing else except starter stuff. All hat data and morph data was also gone.


    Needless to say, unhappy daughter. . . lol.

    A couple of observations. Hopefully you didn't already address it. . I don't have time to read back very far today.


    1) Maka are not spawning in my plains biome on the 1.6.4 server. I've never seen one. I've been testing there for a couple of months now and I just upgraded. All the other mobs are spawning but no Maka. I tweaked the spawn settings and nothing changed. Here is the .cfg for the plains mobs:

    2) First impressions under a genuine survival scenario on my server with your default settings: Holy crap the Nether is crazy! 90% of the mobs you have there shoot fireballs and create fire all over the place. . . ghasts start fires with their shots. . . and every single block of fire spawns 1-3 cinders who start machine gunning more fireballs that knock me all around? And lava is everywhere, so while you are fighting for your life looking at cinder madness in the sky, a lobber could spawn and put a block of lava at your feet at any time? Which spawns even more cinders? All while being shot by Belphs and Cacodemon from a zillion miles away, blown up by nether souls, and withered by Asmodi that appear out of the woodwork? Oh and look. . a Ghast! I really need a Ghast tear. . . I wish I had time to shoot it. Oops, did I just hit a pig man that stepped in front of me while I was flailing wildly around in this dance number? Oh. . hello Pinky. . you're mad at me too?

    Blaze rods and nether wart are dropping all over. . but getting one Ghast tear, even with good gear and magic. . . is like a boss quest. . . lol.


    Suggestions:

    I noticed that frost and ice magic from Ars Magica and Thaumcraft does not seem to do extra damage against the demons. Is this intentional? Are your frost web and bolt from ice biomes providing any extra damage in this hell? That might help slow down lobbers and cinders. Maybe frost webs could also put out fires in a 3x3 area? Maybe there could be a scepter that creates a neutrality to demons as long as it is held?

    I get the fun of this desperate fighting. . . but there should also be a way to get a break from it if it becomes tedious (like needing yet another Ghast tear) shouldn't there?

    Just throwing this out there. I get the idea that you want the Nether to be a harder, action packed, experience. . . but wow. . I feel like I stink at this. . . . . and we play on EASY!!!

    I'll keep trying this default setting for a while to see if I just need to toughen up the tactics. If that works, then sorry for the whining . . . . but. . . wow. . .it feels I'm going to need everything but the kitchen sink to stay alive. . . I'll also take a look at the .cfg and play around. . This is just my first initial impression of a survival experience under your default settings. Worst case I suppose I could make some of your other mobs drop Ghast tears.

    Thank you for that. I tried attacking vanilla entities for a while. . . but I'll mess around some more. It looks like this is a 1.7.2 fix since the last version in the 1.6.4 change log is 1.2.8 and that fix was 1.3.2

    I have finally been able to test this on my 1.6.4 server and it all seems to work except the way the bat gains exp is confusing me. He is hitting opponents and the exp doesn't change after killing a couple. Then I do a couple more and it changes a little. Then a couple more and no exp gain. . then a couple more and still no gain. I can't seem to get it past level 1 and I fought with it for almost an hour.

    I was expecting some kind of curve on it that requires several hits per gain but this seemed like a lot for level 1. However, I don't know what normal is either. . . Am I missing a memo, or a brain cell? I assume the 1.6.4 version is finished at this point so I hope it's something I am doing or expecting that is wrong.

    Hmm, I've never seen any freezes c aused by this mod before, but you could try disabling the Fire, Lava and Portal Custom Mob Spawning off in the global config file (config/lycanitesmobs/lycanitesmobs.cfg), if it is the custom spawner then you can significantly decrease the rate that it tries to spawns mobs and increase the chance to balance it out. If it's not that then I'm not too sure.


    I'm even more confused today. Right after posting that we played for the whole day and the freezes never happened. I'm now wondering if there was something on the server end. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll let you know if I figure anything out.

    I just upgraded this mod to 1.5.3c version and Witchery to 0.18.4 on my 1.6.4 server. After doing this I am getting strange client freezing when there is more than one person on. When I am alone I get no issues. When my family joins me, we each get random client freezes now and then which will clear up in about a minute or so if we wait. . . It happened to each one of us periodically as we played. We have been playing on this server with this same custom mod pack for a while. I have been testing it a long time. The issues only started after installing these updates. I can't seem to catch anything in the logs when this happens either so it is kind of tricky to track it down.

    So I am doing the rounds to see if anyone else has experienced this or if there is anything that is known on this issue yet. Thanks.

    I just finished reading the FAQ and it looks like he put it in there:


    When is 1.7.x coming?

    1.7.x will happen, but not until after the 1.2 update comes out. A small update will be released afterward with the sole purpose of updating from 1.6.4 to 1.7.x. Note that 1.2 will be the *final* update for 1.6.4, and will not be supported after the 1.7.x update.

    There is a nether portal. I take it this is new? Because they weren't coming through before. Now they're burning down my base camp. . . which then spawns cinders on every piece of burning grass. . . man what a nightmare!! I'll go deal with the portal spawn thingy I guess. The jury is still out on the fire spawning. I have an outdoor witches caldron and a crucible. . so the cinders are kind of griefing me but I also like blaze rods. . . so 6 to one half dozen to the other. . .

    I like the feature. . . now that I understand it. . . lol. Lots if cool new .cfg stuff. . awesome job.

    Did you intend the Belph to bang on doors like that? Nice touch. :)

    Yeah. . I can confirm again that, after my update to 1.5.1b, Belph are showing up in my 1.6.4 BoP Savannah biome.

    I just had one pounding on my door like a zombie. What a surprise to open the door and see a demon!! LOL

    I, again, wonder about Thaumcraft calling up a random nether mob, but this last one was nowhere near my Thaumcraft lab. . and Belph are all I'm seeing.

    Hey Lycanite. I'm still ironing out my 1.6.4 server and I am updating to the final releases of mods under this version. I just updated from 1.4.4 to 1.5.1b of this mod.

    For some reason desert mobs such as crypt zombies, clinks and Erepedes are showing up in the BoP Savannah which is a plains biome not a desert biome. I am seeing your plains mobs too but those specific desert mobs are turning up along side them. I haven't see any jousts, gorgomites or crusts yet, however. In the last version, the kobolds and raptors were showing up fine without the desert mobs. I'm also seeing Zoataurs since updating but I have yet to see a Maka in either version yet.

    I checked the .cfg and they are all set to the proper biome type. I'm not sure what else to try.

    LOL. OK. I did have a server crash with them too. . but it was minor. I'll chalk it up to adding balance for their power. Who ever said the power of darkness was our friend? I probably won't be doing more mod updating beyond this server till after the new official API is released. Thanks for the great 1.6.4 mods!

    Still testing in 1.6.4 and I had the minions out yesterday. Oddly, I am also running into an issue where they are not always depositing into the chest. . or some of them will and some won't. It also seems like they are quitting some strip-mining jobs early. It's hit or miss. Sometimes it works fine other times only half of them deliver and the other's go invisible. . . the loot appears on the floor when I un-summon them. I didn't do any exhaustive testing yet.

    Are you done with 1.6.4 now? I looked for your change log. The forum points to the website (nice new site BTW) which doesn't have a change log for Minions and then refers back to here for more info. I don't want to start generating and posting logs and such for this unless you are still making changes to this version. If you still are I can make some time to focus on the little guys for a while.
