Actually it's official, by word of two of the developers on multiple occasions. I only say "should" be out by the end of this year to give wiggle room for any little set backs, but they've been adamant that a download would be available before the end of this year on multiple occasions.

that means sometime within the next 48 days we will all be flying off into the sunset on what could potential be the best mod ever made. XD

Careful, I was offering help in that comment but I've had several very similar messages deleted for not containing any thread related material. It's considered spam. I didn't realize it until recently. Even this comment is iffy for "replying to spam", not that I'm complaining and I mean that seriously. It's the rules. I just want to point out to anyone wondering why their posts got deleted that A Lot of comments are missing if you look at the comment numbers. They seemed harmless enough, but looking back they were purely conversational and just didn't contain any thread related material. So hopefully this will help some players from getting their comments deleted and getting as confused as I was.

For the sake of adding something thread related to prevent breaking one rule I've gotta say that I'm hoping there really will be rare skins on the dragons. Anything would be awesome, but personally albino or pale Fire Dragons and melanistic or dark Ice Dragons would be seriously kick butt. Everyone, including myself, have been coming up with tricky ways to try and obtain some rare trophy skin. Perhaps a better, fairer and simpler way for the developers would be to just give it a low spawn rate. Like the pink sheep and the killer rabbit, but definitely not quite as rare as the pink sheep... Even with spawn eggs it takes forever to try and get one and I've found them wild like twice in the 2-3 years that I've been playing. One time doesn't count because I think it was wild but it just may have been an escapee from someone else's plot.

If albino and melanistic are used it could something that echoes through the mod. Being naturally occurring rare mutations albino and/ or melanistic mobs would be an interesting find. They don't even have to be tamable mobs. Like white sea serpents (Moby **** reference). Edit: I was naming the famous white whale, but it censored part of its name.

yes albino dragon would be sweet.

136 pages of waffle about a mod which isn't out yet is about my limit unfortunately, no matter how good it looks it might turn out to be someday. Could you please tell me if you're planning to make this mod available through Curse when it's out ? If so, I can stop watching this forum which would be excellent.

if i recall the mod makers hope to release it later this winter or in the spring next year. don't stop following as the conversations are excellent and the makers post update photos that are pretty sweet.

Prepare yourselves for one of my infamous walls of text! It kinda looks like my brain vomited into the comments section... Actually that's a pretty good description. Please don't hate, I thinned it out! :boredvillager: by Onuku

The idea of special skins being obtained by special means is a really cool one. Hatching on a full moon night when the moon is within a small threshold of midnight would make it a bit harder to obtain and more special.

Animals like sharks tend to tan in the sun and bleach in the dark. And look at all the pure white cave dwelling and deep sea animals. So maybe the reverse would also be true here.

Hatch a fire dragon between 17000 and 19000 ticks (or tighten the threshold closer to exact midnight) and you'll get a White (Moon) fire dragon. On a full moon night. Hatch an ice dragon between 5000 and 7000 ticks (or tighten the threshold closer to high noon) and you'll get a Black (Sun) ice dragon. The day following an eclipse.

Or both colors would be achieved on full moon nights as described for the white fire dragon. Or the white fire dragon could be hatched on a full moon night and the black ice dragon could be hatched on an eclipse night.

On the 30th of this month there will be a rare lunar even called a Black Moon, where the full moon is literally black, so other names that come to mind are "White Moon" and "Black Moon" if they both hatch at night. Black Moon is also a term also used to describe a month that does not have a full moon in it, so it would work for Ice dragons hatching black on an eclipse.

In the end I don't see what's wrong with White Fire Dragon and Black Ice Dragon instead of getting tricky.

Every color set has a theme. Element. Gemstone. Metal. Desaturated. The theme for the fifth could be as simple as it being a rare color. "Legendary" sound nice. And it could be made only obtainable through hatching, not spawn eggs or even with commands if ways of selecting colors are made possible.

Another reason I say a light skinned fire dragon and a dark skinned ice dragon is that the fire dragons already have so many dark skins and the ice dragons already have so many light skins, so lets switch it up.

Some fire dragon skins almost blacken with age and there already is a "Snow White" ice dragon.

1000 Minecraft ticks (1 Minecraft hour) = 50 seconds, so the egg would have to hatch within 50 seconds of the target with the numbers that were suggested above. A total of 100 seconds real time. That's not a lot of time. To make the skins rarer it can be tightened, but I don't know how to calculate that. A tick is such a small measurement... Maybe half that time to a total of 50 second real time?

Minecraft 24 hour clock showing ticks.

Posting before this gets any longer... I actually started this yesterday and I seriously don't know how many hours in total it was worked on. When the OCD kicks in I can't let it go...

i really like this idea and the challenge behind it. my only suggestion would be instead of a legendary type (which is a good name) maybe call it a celestial type? but other than that this is an amazing well thought out idea imo.

i have a suggestion of sorts.

what if certain blocks where placed on certain planets if they turned to a liquid. for example if water was placed on the surface of Venus (because its the hottest planet but maybe Mercury to and other hot planets)

    FOR EXAMPLE:

if you place a bock of ice on the surface of Venus it would immediately turn into a water source but before the water source had time to flow and spread it would poof into smoke much like it does in the nether.

the same thing could happen on very cold planets/moons ex: if you placed a water source down it would turn into ice, and if you placed a lava source down it would turn into obsidian.

Seeing as this is a fantasy mod, maybe there could be a new NPC in villages that you can pay to feed your dragon. That way,it would fit the theme a bit more.

yes, now the hard part would be to get the villager to where ever you want your dragons kept. but i definitely think this is a cool idea for feeding them.

Will there be flight duration limits depending on the level of your dragon? I like the idea of mounting and flying with them, but I can't justify using this mod on a survival server if you can just fly over all the threats. :( It would be neat to see some kind of system similar to how a plane has fuel, for dragons to have some way of getting tired when they fly too long, or something of that nature.

Or, at least some kind of configuration option so that you can use it if you want to.

Maybe you have to stop and feed your dragon somehow to "refuel" it? Make it eat some piggies or some cows?

Let me know what you think.

I like the idea a lot! Plus i want to be able to say to my friends, "Uh oh looks like my dragon is on E" or " Gotta refuel my ride" or something wierd along those lines XD.

I definitely think the naga should be named sirens as well. I am also in favor of the naga being separate from the sirens but i don't know how I feel about being able to tame them.

I LOVE the look´s of this mod and i even have a little suggestion you should make a craftable stable item which could spawn a stable big enough for a fully grown dragon

of course it needs to be expensive but i personly prefere my big fire breathing lizard under control than roaming around the world and building one in the right size would take ages

Building your own would be a better idea Bc u can customize it to yur likeing. Have it as high or little detailed as u want as big or small make it match yur house etc. the benefits of building your own are far better than a pre made one

At first I thought you meant societies like villages whose warriors have tamed dragons, not actual societies of dragons. I don't think dragons are intelligent enough to form civilizations, also it would be really OP if they did.

Ya. I think taking on 1 dragon will be quite a task. Let alone say 5 dragons flying around seeking you out.
