What in the hell? Before the pre-release, everyone was FREAKING out at the idea of Endermen being able to pick up man-placed blocks. There were so many threads raging about it, I just read through 3 different threads where everyone was all hunky dory about them being able to pick up player's blocks. What in the hell? So before you experienced it first hand it was some huge issue that was going to ruin Minecraft forever for you, but now its fine? I fear for our future ._.
The pre-release will basically be like 1.7, you will have to load new chunks to find new things like Mushrooms, which are made in the chunk spawning process. So if you haven't traveled to far then you won't have to make a new world, but if you're an explorer or anything, then you're SOL and you'll have to make a new world.

I think Mojang are a pretty solid company. Don't forget they're new to the industry. One thing you said was "1.8 was delayed" and that is really a stupid thing to say. Notch set no date, he is working on the kinks to make it a better game for us. That's why he showed it at PAX; so we could feedback and opiniate and he could work on the patch accordingly. No his argument is infact perfectly valid, because the moderators, and I think even Notch himself at one point said it would be very shortly after the event that it would be released, yet it has been delayed.
Ontopic, I agree. Notch and Mojang have let me down. This doesn't mean that I will stop playing, but I won't expect anything they say anymore. Getting anything thats promised would be a surprise.
Create a new world, and as fast as possible find a cliff and make myself a base of operations inside it, with a window on the cliff face so I can see out. Then I'm going to spend months(Ingame months, probably only actual hours) Studying Endermend by watching their patterns without actually looking directly at them. Then I'm going to make awesome stuff using all the new things.
Guys, I have to give it to you, this is by far the best flame I've read in a while, and I sit here in glee awaiting the upcoming flame war that will require moderator assistance to stop.
EDIT: And just so you all know, Notch has stated that Enderman will only be able to move generated blocks, so your shits safe. And if you're close enough to your house that Enderman CAN spawn, then you should be close enough to bust a cap in their ass when they try to steal your ****.
There are scarier games, but Minecraft is still pretty scary when you get jumped by a mob. And when I do get caught by surprise, I'll always jump, hold my breath, and run backwards while hoping for the best. Consistently.
Huh, for me it's that I turn directly towards them(epic mouse is epic) and start hitting them while running TOWARDS them.. XD
