Bigger issue now -- this all works in Windows. But when I try to replicate the process on Ubuntu, it... doesn't work.

I added all my JAR-changing mods to the instMods folder, which works on Windows. However, on Ubuntu, the JAR is not modified at all, except for the META-INF folder being deleted. Any ideas why the mod ZIPs are not being extracted and put into the minecraft.jar?

Error getting response stream (Write: The authentication or decryption has failed.)

For anyone that is getting this error on Ubuntu when trying to login, run this:
    certmgr -ssl https://www.minecraft.net/

Answer "y" to all of the requests to add the certificate to the stores.

It will add the necessary SSL certificates to the Mono certificate store. It fixed the issue for me.

Installed a bunch of Industry mods hoping to get this one to work... unfortunately after correcting block ID conflicts, this error came up. Since this mod isn't open source, I can't see what is causing the problem. Any clue?

EDIT: I also tried with only this mod and BuildCraft installed. Well, and TooManyItems. But that isn't causing any errors; I installed it to see if block IDs were causing this error.

I was actually looking at that exact one.

However, I cannot read that to save my life. Would you be able to provide a schematic instead?

Here is a link to the original post.

Well, do let me explain. And explain why I feel dumb.

Originally I was thinking that RAM was simply D Flip-Flops and a MUX to select the correct register, thanks to the video linked above. Little did I know that there were also RAM cells that would do most of these operations much more compactly and efficiently.

So yeah. Honest mistake. But this topic is pretty much invalidated for now unless someone wants to do it anyways.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction ;P

How wide do you need the inputs of the multiplexer?

Really anything is fine. Of course, I'll be hooking RAM into this though, so if it is easy to space them so its like 1010101 where 1 is an input and 0 is air/anything else, that may be the best.

    (schematic at the beginning)

I am working on making a way to be able to cycle through RAM for my CPU, yet I could not find a 4 bit multiplexer schematic that was reasonably compact to save my life. I tried recreating this, and it worked, but I'm sure there is some way to make it much more compact than I had done.

If you could help me turn this schematic into a decently compact redstone device, I would be very appreciative. Or maybe even if you could point me toward a 4-bit multiplexer (2 selector bits, 4 inputs).

    Thanks!

I don't remember the exact file name off of the top of my head, but it's in the particles file.

Excuse my ignorance if I didn't notice something, but isn't this the same function that a T Flip-Flop would perform?

So Ive been working on this project for a while with pistons not knowing they had a pushing limit, and I was wondering if anyone can confirm that the regular piston only pushes around 12 blocks. Thanks in advanced.

Instead of following Part 2, just hook up a simple piston floodgate to the water port at the top. If you can't figure that out, I'm sure there are tutorials somewhere around.

I'm not entirely sure. What I do know, however, is that rather than logic gates consisting of redstone and redstone torches, they are realistically composed of transistors. A redstone torch is both an inverter circuit and a battery in one. I'm not the master of real-life electronics, but correct me if I'm wrong, this is how it all works out... But I could be wrong. :tongue.gif:

    Quote from MarcusWilson

Just make the outputs of two separate AND gates lead to the inputs of an AND gate, and then the output of that leads to your Iron doors and whatnot.

That'll work. But this way is much more compact, to an extent. It works for up to around 6-8 inputs, too.

    No plates are activated: (OFF)

    Two plates are activated: (OFF)

    All plates are activated: (ON)

EDIT: Ninja'd.. But I believe I am the first to show an actual in-game screenshot of it working with plates, so yay?

    that design is infinitely expandable.

Indeed it may be infinitely expandable. But without some clever wiring, 27 or so is the easiest in terms of simplicity. I'm not sure how else it could go farther, with the power from the lever dimming down too far.
