posted a message on Progress and work ethic discussion for 1.8/1.9
People expect Minecraft to be updated like a regular game. Regular games have teams of 100 or more people working on it. Mojang? 6 people, if I'm correct. You expect 6 people to.. Uhg.. >.>

When one person out of the 100s of people working on a game takes a vacation no one notices. Even if they took regular vacations it's not noticeable because of how many people they have. Mojang takes the same amount of vacations, probably less, than other game companies do. But due to their small crew it's very noticeable. So noticeable that people scream and cry about them taking vacations.

It will look no different than the chunk boundaries from earlier updates.

When biomes were added that wasn't the case.. >.>

You can get rid of your achievements and your worlds but simply deleting them from .minecraft.

posted a message on 1.7.3 Worlds to 1.8 Worlds
This is what I understand to be right. If I'm wrong please do tell me, it'd be nice to know.

A bunch of people are posting about 1.7.3 terrain being perfectly fine with 1.8 terrain generation. This is somewhat true however a lot of the people posting aren't taking into consideration the fact that the terrain coding is completely different from the 1.7.3 coding. This means A chunk that was generated in 1.7.3 is generated differently. So when Minecraft generates a new chunk in 1.8 the conversion will be wonky. Example being half a mountain was generated in a 1.7.3 chunk. This mountain would normally be continued in a new chunk generated. But since the coding is different the 1.8 terrain generation ignores that mountain and goes about it's business. So the mountain is cut. The caves and ore inside the mountain are exposed because a plain biome was generated where the other part of the mountain should be. Sometimes the terrain change from 1.7.3 to 1.8 will look kind of like the change from normal world generation to far land world generation. Some conversions to 1.8 terrain could look like this. Of course that's a bit extreme. Pretend the far land part is just a normal mountain and not a bunch of floating parts.

If this has been posted before feel free to lock it, however I haven't seen any about the wonky terrain change. Hope this cleared things up.

posted a message on Terrain Generation: 1.8 and 1.9
So I was thinking with 1.8 being just around the corner and us having to start a new world, what about 1.9? The reason we have to start a new world is because of all the new terrain updates. Now if everything terrain-wise was added in 1.8 we wouldn't have to restart again in 1.9. But it seems like Notch has a lot of new biomes he wants to add but won't be done in time for 1.8. So do you think we'll have to start over again in 1.9?

I agree with notch. When its possible to change from survival to creative and back than everybody will start to "cheat".

So no it shouldn´t be possible to change the gamemode ingame

If people cheat in their own game it's their own problem. Not implementing this is inconvenient to players who want to use it for the right reason.

posted a message on I thinks 1.8 will make the game worse. Your thoughts?
    Quote from keltondrum2014

No, not hate the game. Just make it worse. I'm just afraid the new bow power selection is going to make fighting mobs too easy and that sprinting is going to make getting away from mobs easier. Plus other things, but i'm not going to go into detail.

You can't tell me combat is exciting. Seriously we need more combat additions and that's what 1.8 is doing. Too easy? Play hardmode. Play hardcore. Die=delete save. Now is it too easy?

The game is easy as heck after you get freaking stone tools. You barely have to try, even in Hard mode. 1.8 is adding difficulty and reward for exploration and battle. Notch is making Minecraft into a better game.

    Quote from Sir_Shadowdeath

    I agree with that also.
1.8 has a lot of great features, but alot Of it just...changes the feel of minecraft. That's what mods are for, not whole updates. While it is a great update, in the long run won't it mess up all or our hard work and made life much harder on us?

Endermen and Silverfish won't derp all over your creations. They don't touch them. Creepers are still the game griefers.
The feel of Minecraft? I think it's changing the feel of Minecraft in an upgrading way. Notch has a plan for what he wants the game to be. That planned game is what Minecraft will feel like. It's changing the current feel. And the current feel to the game, though you may think not, is inferior to what the game will feel like in the next update. Meaning it will be better, not worse.
