Congratulations we're on the same page, but I prefer to make historical things in Minecraft such as recreations of WW1 and such, so far I now have a world with The Great War, one of my favorites in history. God bless.

SuntannedDuck2 posted a message on how to get mods in offical mc launcher ( not taluncher )Posted in: Mods Discussion1.If you have the original launcher (and a proper Mojang/Microsoft account which you can use for MultiMC and third party launchers if you don't like Mojang's offering, I'm just saying you have flexibility if you don't like it, but it's a fine option, just third party ones can be useful the more you get into modding for multiple versions and making modpacks but if you just want a simple setup that's fine) then you just need a modloader.
2.Modloaders add the modded layer to the game as the game itself don't have support for them. So it's not a Steam Workshop like situation, you have to search for them.
Forge and Fabric are the two current options. Though there have been others in the past but if your just going with say 1.16.5 then those are the two you will come across.
Forge has most mods and has been around the longest but Fabric has it's place and is worth mentioning, I see benefits in both of them so take a look at the mods for either and see which suits what your after more (I'm not going to ignore Fabric like TileEntity will as you may come across mods for Fabric only or both modloaders and need to know this stuff as it doesn't happen for other games. Some mods aren't compatible with the other modloaders and it can be confusing. I know two modloaders is a bit confusing but it's been a thing since Minecraft was in Beta in 2011 so I think it's relevant to mention it to help you out).
That and I've a fan of both, unlike many in the community so I will give fair points for either rather than ignore it.
The major thing to know is that Fabric and Forge mods are not compatible so you have to use either both for separate experiences or stick with one if you find it a lot of effort, each offer similar or widely different experiences depending on the mods so make sure to look for a Fabric icon on Curseforge pages, some do have the Forge logo but barely have started using it so assume most that don't have it are for Forge or the description itself says 'Forge Only' or 'Requires Fabric API'.
3.Curseforge is the safest source to find mods, but Modrinth is a good alternative. Some sites can be dodgey so best to avoid any that aren't Curseforge, Modrinth or Planet Minecraft. So the ones like your 9Minecraft, 6Minecraft and others for example that can appear in search results.
4.You can get Forge from their official site here: https://files.minecraftforge.net/net/minecraftforge/forge/ or Fabric from here:https://fabricmc.net/use/ You will need Fabric API https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/fabric-api in the mods folder though unlike Forge so that's an extra detail Fabric has, it's just 1 extra step so it's not that bad.
5.Just download the mods from the source you want and put them into a mods folder. To know how to install the modloaders to apply the modding layer try Youtube tutorials (Forge: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=forge install tutorial Fabric: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=fabric install tutorial ) if need be, but you simply just need the Installer file and to just double click, select the version of the game/settings/location you installed Minecraft to related things and your good to go. You can see it has done it correctly when you launch the launcher and see the profile for them.
The %appdata% method is a good idea still, but if you want to pin it in File Explorer under Quick Access I'd recommend doing so to make it easy to get back to later.
Otherwise I think that's about it. Sorry for the wall of text but though I'd add my input with a few other details.

TileEntity posted a message on how to get mods in offical mc launcher ( not taluncher )Posted in: Mods DiscussionYou will need a modloader like forge:
https://files.minecraftforge.net/net/minecraftforge/forge/
Download the installer and install it (double-click on the jar file, press ok)
Start your Launcher again and run the Forge profile
Close the game in main menu
Press Windows-Key + R and type
%appdata%
Put the mods in /.minecraft/mods
Get the mods from curseforge and make sure you are using mods in the same version as forge
https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods?filter-sort=5
Also check the "Relations"-tab - some mods require other mods to work

DragonAnimators posted a message on Can someone tell me what is minecon?Posted in: MineconMineCon is an annual Minecraft festival held every year. It is like any other convention, but with Minecraft. If you attend MineCon, you will get a MineCon cape that you can showcase. It is also supposed to be a great place for Minecrafters from all over the world to meet up and talk with each other. You can also meet some YouTubers that attend there. I am pretty sure that sums MineCon up. Oh yeah, you can also get a MineCon cape if you attend in-person.
