I'm doing a recreation of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Now Known as Ocarina of Timecraft
.
This has gone from a megabuild to becoming an adventure map in the ocarina of time. The story will be very much the sames and all though I will keep the mechanics as much the same as possible, somethings will change due to Minecraft limitations! You can see some of the older timelapse videos here. I will be putting updates of the map on my channel once in awhile to give everyone an update,. Timelapse has stopped in order not to give away to much of the map and keep it a little bit of a surprise, However once in awhile I will put up timelapses of the bigger builds (ie. The castle, lon lon ranch) but not the dungeons.
I also do Classic Plays, Hardcore mode, Sexy Scream Time, Game of the Week, multiplays and much more. Come check out my channel and please Subscribe to my youtube for updates on the map and more:! http://www.youtube.c...ic?feature=mhee

This map will be turned into an Adventure map with no mods needed. (WIP)

Sure, here is one. A long time ago, I was walking through the tundra and stumbled upon an enclosed lake of ice surrounded by a small hill that opened up on two ends of the lake. I even thought it was quite unique back in the day.
Compare this to 2000 blocks of rolling plains that just happened to be covered in snow :dry.gif:

Getting that feeling you didn't play in 1.8 and prior, and haven't read through any or all of this thread. The only thing that the new generator has over the old one is larger biomes, rivers, and the new structures/ravines. The old generation could do everything in your screenshots (which are quite beautiful) and more - There would be trees on those mountains, hills in those forests, and real beaches instead of lazy sand circles.

But it's not entirely based around being creative. You're still supposed to struggle to survive.

What exactly is interesting about it? After acquinting oneself with the new terrain feature
s(ravines) and structures, and having visited every biome, there isn't really anything left to discover. The old generator would continuously produce something different, as mountains, hills, cliffs and overhangs existed in every biome, allowing for mountains and cliffs with trees, snowy mountains, desert mountains and the like. Now, this is a forest. This is a pine forest. This is an ocean. This is the desert. This is...BORING

Back in the days of 1.5, I would find iron every now and then in caves, caves that could have been winding and large, but eventually ended. I loved tip-toeing through them, lighting up every corner and mining all the ores I could find. After I'd lit up the whole cave, I'd have to tunnel in a random direction in hopes to find another one. Now, I find myself in caves systems that go on forever, that break the surface in several places, go as low as layer 12, are cut through by ravines and abandoned mineshafts and there's never an end in sight. I know some people like this, but it just feels like the cave exploration and discovery has lost its spark. I used to be excited when I found a huge cave, or when I found ore in them. Now I can walk into a cave without fear of any monsters because iron armor makes me damned near invulnerable, and walk out with a stack of iron in 10 minutes.

I'm afraid I can't help you much more than post things that have already been posted.
I'm afraid you're right. I don't tweet, so I don't have that option. I think they just need to read this thread. I feel that most of the people supporting the idea are being entirely reasonable and minecrafts staff should consider our position. Adding another difficulty has no downside, though I would simply prefer a rebalance to the current hard mode.
I'll say it again; people who like it easy have 3 modes of it. We who like the challenge have none.

What we are complaining about: Armor absorbs far too much damage in hard mode.
What we want: Hard mode to be difficult.
I don't want to install mods. I don't want to have to run around naked beating things with sticks. There are plenty of strongly phrased, constructive posts in this thread about mods and self-limitations. If you're going to post here, show these people some respect and read their comments.
By the way, hardcore is the same thing as hard, and is not a fix. Stop saying that it is.
Our proposed changes will not effect you if you don't play on hard. They won't negatively impact ANYONE if they add an actually hard difficulty; theres no logical reason to complain (which of course doesn't won't stop anyone :tongue.gif:) if there is a higher difficulty level available. Nobody loses.
Personally, I don't think we need more difficulty options, we just need to tweak armor values in hard mode, so that its actaully.. gasp.. hard! If it's too hard for you, play on an easier difficulty. Minecrafters who seek the challenge have nowhere to go. I don't tell you to install a mod if you think the game is too hard, but I have to install a mod if the game is too easy?

That aspect being.. waiting for animals to spontaneously appear? Whereas now, we actually have to herd and feed them? What exactly was taken out of the game here?

We're not asking for the entire game to become kaizo mario. All we want is a "hard" hard mode. Currently we have 3 levels of easy to pick from.
The topic of discussion isn't PvP, the balancing of which is a much more complicated issue. This thread has barely touched PvP and would do well to stay away from it.
The issue many people over and over have brought up is that MONSTERS on hard mode do jack diddly to someone in full iron armor (not even bringing up diamond), and in my opinion the issue is amplified by the fact that it doesn't even take 10 minutes to get a full set of iron. We just want surviving to be a challenge.
And you haven't read the OP's post or any of the comments in this thread.

Your simplified interpretation of Minecraft's combat and gameplay is constructive and contributes to the topic of discussion
NOT
The combat isn't meant to be in-depth and revolutionary. The monsters are there to make survival... survival.
