The game was clearly designed NOT to be only building, and if you think it is, you are just wrong. The game was designed for much more and notch intended it for much more then just internet legos.
And you should never get to attached to something on a server. That's what the people I play on get. If their awesome house get burned down in a raid, they don't cry like most people here would. They say, "Oh I'll just build something better, it isn't then end of the world" or they say "I'll just lead a raid and burn their entire city down".
People that cry about having their structures destroyed should get over themselves and realize they can rebuild it or build something better.
This guys right. SMP has descended into a "NO FUN ALLOWED" game mode. You play, you get trust, you build, then what? You build some more? There's no adventure, no one does anythings and it's boring.
No one plays the game the way notch intended, It's sad.
But I know why this happened. I blame the community. If people did'nt get so ass-pained about being killed or having their buildings destroyed and acted mature, none of this would be necessary.
I play on a private server where we backstab and murder each other all the time. But no one gets angry becasue we either realize it's a game, or get the person back later.
It's infinity more fun then any build right server.
We have had, Rebellions, raids, Catastrophic fires, assassinations, planned heists, rescue missions, and built a huge archive keeping record of what we have done.
That is what SMP can be.
But, it never will.
It's truly sad that SMP will never get passed being a glorified creative mode.
One thing I do disagree with is the "Mods" part. A server that has mods is not bad, My private server uses bucket, just for the nether. Nothing else. So mods don't mean build rights and crap like that.

Peaceful is supposed to have no mobs, but you are still supposed to die. Just the only things you have to be careful of are lava and environmental issues.

What in the world are you talking about? Loads of people are already doing RPG set ups. There is a difference between "Role playing" and a MMORPG.

4. There SHOULD be more vanilla servers. Notch didnt make minecraft to be played on a server with building rights, pvp off, free items, restricted blocks and everything. If he did, why would he put them in? He made CLASSIC for that. So many servers have admin mods, when minecraft is good as it is.

Well it's happened about 5 times, I've gotten almost full iron about 10.
If people gang up we've taken down a spawn killer in about 5 seconds.
Still, If you think that's a loss, not my problem.
