Minecraft isn't supposed to be complete. They'll just keep on updating until their content with what they have or have run out of ideas.

So getting a mod maker to help implement something from his mod into the vanilla game was a completely original idea on Mojang's part? Also, whose to say that Mojang isn't content with the game already? All I've seen them do is ask other people what they want in the game and fulfill those requests.

What I find annoying about the updates is the fact that Mojang is treating MineCraft like it's an in-development game, despite the fact that it had its "official release" as a full game almost two years ago. It's clear that their only intentions are to keep people interested in playing by adding more and more content instead of improving upon what already exists. There's a point at which a game is supposed to be complete, and Mojang isn't intended on letting that happen anytime soon.

I will say that I find anyone who lets a TV show or game define them as a person (Brony, Trekkie, Minecrafter, Sky Army, Squid Army, etc.), a little bit sad. I like Minecraft. I kind of enjoy Star Trek. But I am not a Minecrafter or a Trekkie. I am just a guy who enjoys those things.

I just don't understand how people can think that a term that describes you as being a fan of something is unusual, stupid, sad or whatever. People are defined by specific terms throughout their whole life. You have a term that describes your gender. You have a term that describes your profession. You even have a term that your husband/wife/etc. calls you. What's the issue with having a term that describes you as being part of a fanbase/fandom?

posted a message on Youtubers Cheating?
Well, I have to disagree with the majority of you that have already posted. When I see a YouTuber cheat in their Let's Play, it shows to me that this person is far too lazy to put effort into what they are doing. If you're doing a survival MineCraft Let's Play, you should have the intention to, if you actually care about both your series and your subscribers, spend that large amount of time off camera collecting resources. If you don't, it shows that you only care about being able to record videos of your Let's Play and refuse to put the work into what you want to accomplish within it. Your main focus is still on enjoying the game and entertaining your subscribers, I won't disagree with that. However, there's many occasions where you just have to do something for the sake of your Let's Play, and if you choose the easy way out of it, (in this case, cheating), it shows that you only care about getting videos out.

If you want to make a MineCraft survival Let's Play and are too lazy to put all of the work that goes into that, don't make the series to begin with.

posted a message on How many of u like minecraft vanilla rather than a modded minecraft ?
I used to enjoy playing vanilla in 1.2.5 and versions before that. However, due to Mojang's complete destruction of survival MineCraft, I now use Better than Wolves as my "vanilla" game. I also play with many other types of mods, such as those in the Feed the Beast modpacks as well as TerraFirmaCraft.

    Quote from Aerrow_Quest

would be helpful if minecraft integrated vanilla minecraft with the more popular mods -- like ic2 , buildcraft and give the mod authors a job or at least a partnership .

Uh, no. While mods like those (as well as many mods in the community) are helpful and fun, we shouldn't be encouraging mod integration, especially now that Mojang has begun to do it themselves.

posted a message on Is jeb taking Minecraft in the right direction?
Mojang certaintly isn't taking MineCraft in the right direction, in my opinion. Their updates are intended to keep people interested in the game rather than improving upon what features already exist and making the whole experience of playing better. It's clear that Mojang's biggest mistake was deciding to take suggestions from the community for new features. This is why we're beginning to see mod ideas be merged into the vanilla game. MineCraft has become far too easy, which is one of the big reasons why new players could enjoy it. Mojang tries to fix that issue by masking it with features that add 'fake difficulty'. What I mean by this is that it doesn't actually make the game harder, it just makes it seem like it's harder. People say that the bonemeal nerf and the changes to skeletons and zombies made the game really hard. Well if you've noticed, you still have the ability to get everything with no trouble and you still have the same access to all of the highly powerful gear that you're able to achieve. In the end, you'll see that you still managed to gain everything in pretty much the exact same length of time. Oh, and now you've got a whole bunch of fancy new blocks to play with.

I'd say I'm neutral about this because I can never tell when it's people being nostalgic, or if the game is really getting worse.

Simple. If the person compares the update to older versions of MIneCraft, it's nostalgia. If someone gives a clear reason for why they don't like the update, they seriously think the update is making the game worse. I really wish more people on these forums would understand that, instead of believing that everyone who doesn't like an update is a nostalgic freak.

    Quote from Vinyl_DjPon3

So when people complain about it getting easier, I say "When was it not easy, and so what?"

If you play any of the Alpha versions of MineCraft, you can tell that it was far more challenging due to the lack of things such as beds, enchantments, sprinting, etc.

"So what?" Because some people actually care about having some form of challenge in their game. Not everyone enjoys having everything handed to them.

    Quote from Vinyl_DjPon3

I'd rather have more updates that revolve around simply adding more building material with more variety, then updates that make the game harder, or more adventuresome.

Well that's good and all, but again, not everyone enjoys the same thing. Because of the fact that both of these elements now exist within MineCraft, it's Mojang's job to keep a balance in the updates so that there's something added for both types of gameplay and is equal on both sides. Unfortunantely, that isn't happening. There has been a lot more features added for creative users and map makers as opposed to the type of people who enjoy adventure and exploration. Even far less has been added for those who like challenge.

No, I haven't. I don't run any vanilla version of MineCraft any longer, as it's become clear to me that the game isn't getting any better. What I posted about the changes to biomes was based off the informations and screenshots that I've seen in the official post for the snapshot.

I don't know if anybody's noticed, but the two main issues with the game- lack of difficulty and poor terrain generation- have been and are being worked on in the 1.6 and 1.7 updates.

When it comes to lack of difficulty, yes, they are trying to work on it. However, their updates thus far to increase difficulty are very minor and barely make the game harder. The bonemeal nerf just made you have to use a couple more bonemeal to instantly grow a plant. In the end, you still get to harvest the plant straight away instead of having to wait for it to grow. This makes the process of getting food such as bread only slightly longer. If you were to, say, remove bonemeal entirely, it would add a far higher level of difficulty of getting food to keep yourself from starving to death. With zombie hordes, all it does is make you have to use a little more durability on your sword. You still walk away from the fight without any issues. As for skeletons, well, you still have access to a bow and arrows. It's not any less difficult to just shoot them. You could make it far more difficult if you gave both zombies and skeletons the ability to cripple players, thus making them a slower and easier target.

When it comes to the poor terrain generation, it is nice that Mojang is adding new biomes into the game, and even better when they're using default tree types instead of adding many new ones similarly to mods like ExtraBiomesXL. But it isn't changing how the biomes from before 1.7 look. As far as I can tell, they've left them alone completely and haven't worked on enhancing how those biomes look and the transistion between them. If you want an exmaple of what I'm talking about, take a look at Better World Generation 4. It makes the terrain in 1.6 and earlier look far better than they vanilla game.

SCREW YOU GUYS!! Minecraft has gotten rather rotten but it is still Minecraft. Plus i really enjoy Skydoesminecraft :D

No, it's now become the video game equivalent of Wikipedia: "The game that anyone can edit". In other words, the game is beginning to turn into whatever anybody wants it to be. Just compare the updates from early versions of MineCraft with the most recent ones. In Alpha 1.0.1, we got Redstone, a original idea. In Beta 1.8, Mojang added a hunger meter, something that have changed the game in a huge way. Now we come to the time in which Jeb and Dinnerbone decide to start accepting input from the community on what should be added to the game. In 1.6, they added horses that were modeled by a mod author, and in the most recent snapshot, they've added around 14 new flowers, something that has no effect on gameplay at all and is an idea that's been around the forums for a while in popular mods like ExtraBiomesXL and Biomes O' Plenty.

To me, this looks like Mojang has run out of ideas and have decided to begin merging popular mod features into the game. You're going to tell me that this is still MineCraft?

posted a message on Do you like Harvest Moon?
The style of this game is so much similar to Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town. I have to say that the whole combat element seems to stand out, though. The game looks like it has a heavy focus on farming, much like HM. But with fighting monsters, it makes it look more like an RPG and less like a farming simulator. Still, it looks like a fun game, and I'd be willing to buy it.

I prefer cats because they're far less rambunctious, but also because I've had a fear of dogs my whole life, or at least since I was about 1 or 2.

By the way, to any of you who claim that you can't train cats, go to Animal Planet and look for a show called "My Cat from Hell". You will see vicious, mean cats that attack their owners become calm and friendly felines.

Some YouTubers are too ignorant and treat it like it's some kind of hassle. Have you ever tried watching guys like Slyfox and Nova? I swear, they couldn't remember something if you wrote it in sharpie on the back of their hand.
