    No idea why the pillars template would crash your game, though -- all of the templates I've posted I've had the game generate several times over with no crashes whatsoever. I'm guessing it must be some random effect, such as a bad constellation of circumstances triggering those crashes. If you could post exception stack traces of those crashes, that'd no doubt be useful to d00dv4d3r or others.



    I'm still digging around into it, myself... I can't seem to get it to generate an error... even in command console mode. I wouldn't be at all surprised if it's something I myself have screwed up... as I'm prone to screwing things up quite frequently... so if I find out what I've done, I'll let you and d00dv4der both know!

    More ruins, too? SWEETn3ss! Time to try 'em out, then!

    You know, there's really no need for all the hostility. People post a thread like this when their mod is imminent to release all the time. I'm sure that pics and the download will become available in short order... and everyone will be happy. Jumping down a new modder's throat immediately is -hardly- the way to inspire a sense of community...

    ... and on that note, I offer my sincerest welcome to you, Bayde! I'm sure you'll make a valuable member of the cultish phenomenon that is the Minecraft Modding Forums.

    Try not to let the negativity and standoff-ishness get to you... there really are some friendly and supportive people around here. Honest.

    I'll keep an eye out for when this mod is officially released... but in the meanwhile, putting up some random screenshots of unrelated things which vaguely look like they could be a part of your mod would probably serve well to shut up the folks who'll come in here and holler about it (despite there not actually being anything to download yet in the first place).

    Just be sure to get something, even buggy, up for download reasonably soon... or they might bump you out of Released Mods, despite your imminent claims.

    I might have missed this if anyone mentioned it earlier... but is it supposed to be that, after going a certain distance, no more ruins seem to ever spawn? Because I've got their spawn rate set to be pretty high... but no matter how high I set it... it seems like once I get beyond a certain point... I never find any more.

    Is this just my bad luck? Is it just because of the horribly inhospitable terrain?

    I'm just curious, really, whether or not this is a known issue...

    Not only is it not really UNDERMINING Notch's work... but if he sees a few of these mods out here, looks through their coding, and gets some ideas for how precisely he'd like to implement it in the game proper when he finally decides it's time to do so, then that would mean that these mods were actually HELPFUL to him in some way. It could also help save valuable time... meaning we might get something else new sooner, too!

    See, things can be spun for the positive just as easily as the negative. Try looking on the bright side of things more often... it's been proven that negative thinking and behavior takes YEARS off your life! Nobody wants that!

    So... now that I've played around with it a bit, I've actually gotten all of your beds to work with the Somnia mod. Unfortunately, the game doesn't seem to recognize them as being proper beds, or at least something doesn't quite seem to register... because despite my best efforts (and it previously working)... I can no longer use them to change my spawn point.

    Instead, every time I sleep, I simply get a message that my Spawn Point has not been saved, because my bed was either missing or destroyed.

    It might just be a conflict which isn't immediately visible from using this with the Somnia mod... or perhaps you're already aware of it... I don't know.

    I just thought I would mention it... in case nobody has brought it up before.

    Don't mind folks who deride you too much, mate... some of us here can appreciate the effort. It's just that people are naturally wary. For some reason, Minecraft seems to be rife with folks who can't help but try to rob you, cheat you, or all around hack your brains apart with an axevirus.

    Anyhow, it's a good start. I can definitely understand why this might be desirable. As it is... I HATE glowstone... because it's ridiculous that I should have to go through the effort of getting TEN dusts, only to have the damn thing accidentally get placed while I'm trying to open a door in a hurry. (such as while running for my life)

    How is it fair that I should have to go get TEN MORE just to replace my one brick?

    It's not. It's WAAAAY too much work.

    Still, one dust per block might also be a bit imbalanced. But I'll still try it out, and suggest you keep tweaking it a little. Maybe make it only take five dusts? One in each corner, one in the middle? Something like that?

    I donno.

    Ah, I see...

    ... well, that clears that up for me! I haven't had any problems, so I'm not -too- worried about it... although for the life of me I can't get Battle Towers to work anymore. I wonder what I'm doing wrong, there. Bah.

    Oh well.

    At least I still have Battle Basements! Haha! I'll just build my tower ON TOP of a Basement... and then I'll have DOUBLE the awesomeness!

    The thing with Minecraft Extended is that, in order to make it work, certain things need to be changed not on its end... but on the end of the mods being made and updated. When you think of Minecraft Extended... you really ought to treat it more like ModLoader, and less like a regular mod. It's something that needs to be embraced and implemented by the modding community... so that these kinds of conflicts can finally begin to be erased.

    Especially in Exanadu's case here, struggling with the prohibitive block id limit... something which also severely limits the number of mods which any player can use at any given time. Can you imagine what having 1000 or more would do? People could run every damn thing... so long as the modder in question includes the ability to customize the block ids of their work.

    Anyhow, this is a bit off topic... I don't want to take up too much of Exanadu's thread here discussing the merits of Minecraft Extended! That wouldn't be fair to Exanadu.

    The desk ought to be a storage device, like the chest... but perhaps even smaller still?

    Maybe you could have it work like a chest, too, where if you put two next to each other, they merge into a larger desk with a bigger inventory?

    Would be pretty awesome for folks like me, who have offices.

    I'm not entirely sure... but I'm relatively convinced that there's a very obvious conflict between the MoreBeds+ and Somnia mods... both of which are amazing.

    I'm curious to know whether or not there has been any patchwork done to make them compatible... or if perhaps there is any intention of doing so in the future?

    Haha! TheMadCrafter and I think a lot alike, it would seem.

    I'm glad to see folks out there getting the word around about Minecraft Extended. It really is one of the most exciting things I've seen come out to date.

    I really hope folks take advantage of this... because it really could put a virtual -end- to incompatibility issues amongst the modding scene, if more folks start picking up on it. There's hardly any telling where the limits would be, should folks keep pushing them like this.

    Anyhows, I finally got to play with my sponges today!

    The massive lava-flows which are currently making the crater of the New World 2 Zombie Biology Laboratory inaccessible were hardly an issue at all thanks to this!
