I was being chased by about five different mobs: an enderman, two zombies, a skeleton and a spider, when along came a creeper! It blew up and I died. After I respawned I went to the spot where it exploded, and I found some string, some feathers, bones and arrows, and an ender pearl lying in a crater on the ground, along with my numerous inventory items. ~snicker snicker~
Teehee :laugh.gif: I've done the challenge!!! (Don't worry, I fell off the island too, about 5000000 times) This is a great challenge, it really makes you think about how to get around doing the things listed in such a limited space and with such a limited range of things. :smile.gif:
Reflection: the hardest part was probably realizing that I made a really bad mistake (like wasting resources, etc) and starting all over. I did that heaps of times. The other was getting 10 jack o'lanterns (this really needs lots of thought!). Once you've got the basics, like wood, crafting table, furnace, etc, you can start to make a huge platform to make your island bigger. This is when it starts getting easier, when the focus comes onto farming and harvesting and acquiring the things later in the challenge.
PLEASE come up with more challenges!!! This one was great!!!!!!! :smile.gif:
I have been playing minecraft on hard for a year, and honestly, i have never had any funny or special creeper encounters. They just surprise me, blow up and destroy my creations. Then i proceed to sit in a corner and cry while my house burns down.
Haven't had that happen to me... I how did you get down to layer 16 and below without an iron pick and without finding any iron??? That's prety strange.
Meh. Everybody knows about this, it's just that nobody cares... A far more annoying bug is that paintings go black if here is a block neighboring the painting. :sad.gif:
Use steps to create a slanting roof. Use glass panes not glass blocks, they look better. Use glowstone, not torches. Install lots of paintings.
Furnish the house with minecraft armchairs (put a line of steps onto the floor, then place two empty signs, one on each side). Make a library. Use steps and fences to make staircases, instead of ladders. Make lots of Rome, for different purposes. Add lots of jukeboxes next to armchairs. Use fancy materials. Add lots of features like gardens on the outside, a gravel driveway, balconies, sugarcane for privacy... The choices are endless. :biggrin.gif:
I like spelunking, I've found HEAPS of diamonds this way. Particularly after the 1.8 update, which 'fixed caves spawning with too many dead ends' (see minecraft launcher). It's just that my general belief that caves have more exposed blocks, so it's easier to find ores. Most lava and dungeons are also linked to caves. Furthermore, there's less to dig.
Downsides to spelunking: it's dangerous (lava, getting lost, mobs, etc)
Downsides to branch mining: it's inefficient and generates way too much cobblestone
I just enjoy spelunking more, it's more fun, interesting and adventurous. :biggrin.gif:
No 1: I was looting a stronghold when a SWARM of silverfish attacked me. Back then, I hadnt heard of silverfish, but now I know. :sad.gif:
No 2: I was playing in the dark on my laptop, with headphones. I was just walking around after a massive mining trip which basically ate up all my tools and weapons, when I heard the sickeningly scary sound of a skeleton's bow shooting an arrow. I ducked for cover, in the process looking an enderman directly. Its eyes turned on me, then it teleported towards me. I ran around, and (in the real world) screamed a bunch of curses. Then about three zombies saw me, and started going towards me. To cap it off, just when I was about to desperately turn it to peaceful, from nowhere a creeper came and blew me up. It seems as though all these hostile mobs were working together to kill me. And remember, it was in the dark, with headphones!!! :sad.gif:
