Torches will go out in EVERY mode.
But notch is going to switch the torch code with a lantern code,So your torches turn into lanterns.
So if you REALLY dont want them to go out,Make ATLEAST 5 double-Chests filled with stacks of torches.
When notch makes torches finite,You'll have 5 double-Chests filled with LANTERNS.
Really? I thought Torches were forever-lasting... Sad face
Speaking of ideas, does Lava damage animals and mobs? I was thinking of building a 'castle' and having a Lava moat around it, also making Streets made of Lava with loads of bridges and sidewalks to be safe. :tongue.gif:
Yeah, if CCLEANER and Defraggler doesn't help and you are still getting bad FPS you might want to get a new GPU.
You don't even need a really good one for minecraft, just get a Geforce 8800GT or something like that.
If you are retarded like me and can't change/edit your Computer you can shop around on NewEgg and get a fairly decent gaming computer for cheap.
If you are getting low FPS in your Browser clear your data (CTRL+SHIFT+DEL) and try running CCLEANER.
If you are getting low FPS in the Client try running CCLEANER and DEFRAGGLER.
Your computer isn't too good, but it should be able to run minecraft with ease. I would recommend lowering View Distance from High to Medium and set Graphics to Fast instead of Fancy. :smile.gif:
EDIT: Also try using Google Chrome if you are running in the Browser. Seems to give better FPS compared to Firefox or Internet Explorer :wink.gif:
I just don't know if it's worth actually putting doors in my base as they can't be removed from what I can tell and most bases are temporary.
Minecraft is a nearly infinite world, people don't just stay in one place?
Unless I'm getting this wrong.
Do people make one shelter and explore? How do they find the shelter once they venture off?
I've been making small, temporary shelters for night. Then just aimlessly exploring during the day.
You can delete doors if you punch them long enough or destroy the tile that they are on top of.
Sometimes people settle down and build some pretty impressive buildings, or just a house. And sometimes people like to wander the world. Its your choice.
To find your home, you can remember the land marks, Or you can build towers around your area expanding to the sky.
Alright, thanks a lot. I didn't know that about the doors, and the tower idea was brilliant. I'll definitely throw them into my gameplay. :smile.gif:
Thanks to the posts above too. I actually didn't know what cobblestone was for until I took a lot at the wikia again, until now I've just been disposing of it.
lol, Yeah. I've done this once and learned my lesson the hard way. Didn't have enough wood or stone to get back up and it took an hour to build my way back up by hand... D:
Also, tip: Fraps works on BOTH the browser and client version of minecraft. If you have an HD Resolution for youtube (1280x720 or 1920x1080) use F11 to fullscreen the game before recording. (Most people here probably know about the F- Shortcuts... I didn't at first so figured I would post in-case anyway couldn't figure it out :ohmy.gif:)
Hi guys, I'm new here. Hate to leech on this first post, but I do hope to contribute something in the future.
I've learned about Minecraft from Face-Punch a few days ago.
Ever since I have been watching live streams and videos (like SeaNanners' LP), and I must say this game looks amazing.
I just purchased Premium yesterday and I can't say I'm disappointed.
I just want some pointers. I've seen a few other threads but I already knew about the tips given there.
Basically I just want to know how to start off?
I usually go get wood and create a shovel and pick and gather as many resources as possible and then make a make-shift home as soon as the sun starts going down. Seems to work good but after I go out when the sun comes back up I always get surprise butt secks from the Creepers and Spiders that seem not to die from the sunlight.
Aside from that I also have a couple of questions.
I noticed I get Coal from Coal-Blocks if I mine them with a pick, but not with my hands. Is this by game code or is it just a coincidence?
Also, are there any good tips to find Natural Caves? I saw someone exploring a huge natural cave on a Live-Stream and it looked like a lot of fun.
I've only found one but it was quite small and only had some coal. Then I jetted as the ambiance music in dark caves is quite scary if I do say so myself.
I would like to find one of those caves that take hours to fully explore, as I dislike having to sit in a room doing nothing during the night for lack of resources to build proper weapons.
One last question: The inventory in Survival-Multiplayer still doesn't save once you logoff, correct?
I would like to play some with my friends but I don't want to build just to have everything disappear once we leave.
Any tips would be quite appreciated.
Again, I apologize that my first post is a leech post. I don't normally do this, just want to get into the game properly. :smile.gif:

Yes, we know. You don't need to tell us your age when you have maplestory in your name. :smile.gif:
Decent GPUs:
nVidia GeForce 8800GT
nVidia GeForce 9800 GTX
nVidia GeForce 285GTX
Those are awesome, I have the 285 myself.
Most of the 400 series cards are good too, those are on the expensive side of things.
There are a lot of great ATI cards too, but I've only used nVidia so I don't know which ones are decent.

That's a pretty good one, but it's just an example. Shop around :tongue.gif:

Yes, I have been viewing the wiki. It is quite useful, hopefully I will be able to memorize all of the different crafts eventually.
EDIT: Ah, sorry for the double post. I'm used to FacePunch's Auto-Merge. I'll edit my posts next time :ohmy.gif:
