Never-mind another poster showed us how to fix that.
Another poster? It's the guy who made the tool that showed us how to fix it.
Although I think(hope) most people would have figured that out on there own.
Hopefully this evening. I considered including idshift's patch for the furnace crash, but Jeb said on Twitter that the bug will be fixed in an updated pre-release tomorrow anyway.
I suppose, but if it's not that much trouble it may be better off adding it in anyway.
I really don't know how much work would go into that though, if it is too much I agree that it's fine to just wait for tomorrow when Jeb fixes it.
Looking forward to the other fix though!
Makes it hard to use texture packs when Enderman are white...
16X MSAA is overkill to say the very least, and it wouldn't do much about the grainyness. If you have a nvidia card, enable AF (anistopic filtering) in the nvidia control panel. That should remove a great deal of the grain. Mipmapping is good for that too.
You can do that with AMD cards as well...
However from my experience certain blocks start tiling pretty bad when AF (and AA even) is forced via the GPU.
I recommend GLSL Shader. 16x MSAA + DoF is the perfect Solution for it.
The perfect solution? I think not.
AF is the only 'perfect' solution for this problem.
AA and DoF can cover up the issue SLIGHTLY, but AF will eliminate it altogether.
Nvidia's software is so much more streamlined and thanks to a universal driver architecture, all their hardware since like the RivaTNT is compatible with their latest drivers. (Although they disable older ones for some reason, you can just edit them back in the .ini and it'll work fine)
And the latest AMD drivers are also compatible with all AMD cards I've used...
my pc is new as of a few months ago. radeon 6950 :smile.gif:
and phantom optifine? whats that?
I have 6950 too.
2GB version.
Original reference model so it unlocks to 6970.
OptiFine = Name for Optifog and Optimine combined.
I personally voted for TurboCraft, thought it sounded cooler, but OptiFine currently is the most popular.
I dare anyone on this thread to get 60+ FPS with FarView on in Optifine on Far view distance.
I can't even get 30FPS on tiny ._________.
I no longer get 90FPS either, with DynamicUpdates on and ChunkUpdates set to 5.
No idea what these do either o.o

Use these community fixes until they are fixed officially.

Will we have to wait until 1.8 is officially out?

I disagree when it comes to Minecraft.
Sure, the GPU is important in every game, so if he has an integrated GPU that's probably his issue.
However if he has a half decent GPU he should be fine, the CPU and RAM would be far more important.
Sure he has 8GB of RAM, but maybe it's slow RAM?

This isn't a mod, this is a texture pack.
Your issue is with Notch, complain to him and Jeb.
Even the default 16x16 textures are extremely grainy, this is due to Minecraft not using any sort of Texture Filtering or Mipmapping.

Nope. What seems to be the problem?

Ah okay, thanks. :smile.gif:

For both of these issues the problem lies between the keyboard and the chair.
AMD drivers triumph over NVIDIA.
I've NEVER experienced this.
Nor this

No, this thread is about LB Photo Realism ya jackass.

AMD Drivers are fantastic, maybe you got a bad card.
Of course, I would have been stupid not to.

I mean turn the FarView option under Details... to ON.
