Well then that's why you are getting out of memory.
Why does the system require 32-bit?

How is this relevant though?
I would think the textures in the official 1.9 will be exactly the same as the ones that are in the pre release.
Except, hopefully, the shitty NPCs.

Yes, but are you on 64-bit java?
8GB of RAM doesn't help at all if you are on 32-bit.
I would also recommend uninstalling all 32-bit Java installations you may have, to make sure MC doesn't use them.

It's working fine for me, I'm not getting any black screen, are you sure you aren't trying to install another 1.8 mod with MCPatcher?

This isn't an issue with MCPatcher, this is an issue on your end.
Make sure you have enough RAM (4GB or more) and 64-bit Windows and [64-bit] Java.

You are on MC version 1.5?
Notepad++ is great, but I personally prefer Notepad2, more lightweight.

Texture Packs are great, but you should also enjoy the default textures. Just my recommendation, mix it up, but don't completely drop the original.

No it doesn't, just make sure to install modloader before patching.
Same thing with the Water Reflections mod.

Put it in the same folder as the minecraft launcher (I think you need to be using minecraft.exe)
