Let me begin by saying that the idea for this server was amazing. It was something that really pushed what a sandbox game, and specifically what a game like minecraft could do. It incorporated idea of of trading, politics, leadership, a deeper meaning to warfare, and many other small aspects that made the server feel almost "life-like." Not only did it have that but the server also contained 5 epic kingdoms that were expertly built and well thought out. I applaud Josh and all the others for the time and effort put into the creation of this server.
Here is where, from my point of view and feelings I have gotten from many other fellow players, things began to fail.
1. Allowing public players to join the server and help as builders. This lead to, in at least four cases that I know of, players who were builders spawning in items and hiding them in chests that could later be used when the server was released. Items like diamond blocks, ghast eggs (even though they didn't work, lulz), enchantments, and mob spawners.
2. Lords. I don't think the players who originally applied fully understood the meaning of being a Lord. It wasn't just a position of power but a position that required much responsibility, time, and care. This unfortunately lead to players who would simply lead their kingdoms for the sake of saying it was theirs or only for a pvp aspect. There was no trading, politics, or organization. (and this was not only from the kingdom I was in but other players also felt the same from different kingdoms than my own).
3. Drop parties. Events are a good thing. They encourage player loyalty by giving players an incentive to play on your server and give a twist to things when the "normal server" can become bland. However at a drop party when every player receives 1000 levels of experience or hell even 25000 levels of experience and then you have players who begin to want the drop party to end because of such high inflation.... That's not a good thing. Not only does it change the players opinion of the server into something negative but it causes a ridiculous amount of inflation into the economy of the server. Protection 4 is no longer anything special, fire aspect... heck everyone has it! Sharpness 4 or even 5? Guess what? That still isn't good enough to kill someone! And fortune 3? Now a normal vein of diamonds or emeralds is selling for twice or triple the amount you would normally sell it at since you are getting up to 3x the amount of ores from one vein. And the best part is everyone has that enchantment too! Plus what's in it for players to grind anymore or how is a player supposed to feel like he accomplished something if everyone else has the same enchantment and gear as he does? You can't, and you lose a huge sense of reason to play the game any longer because you lose a sense of accomplishment and uniqueness. AND what about all the players that missed the drop party? They are now leagues behind the fraction of the server that was online and have no realistic way of catching up (thus leading to another feeling of unimportance and negativity).

Anyway that is my two cents.
