Ok, first to fix the problem you will need to turn on hidden folders (Google it if you don't know how)and then navigate to the .minecraft folder OR you could go to your Minecraft texture pack page (in Minecraft) and click "Open texture pack folder" navigate back a page and then install the map desired.
Hope this works and don;t get lost you might hit a :SSSS:

Oh thanks! The second options actually worked like a charm.

No, go to %appdata%, open .minecraft then put the map into the saves folder.

Ok I will try that, thanks

%appdata% takes me to the Roaming folder already. Up in the explorer address it says C:\Users\darb1960\AppData\Roaming, and the .minecraft folder is right there. This is Windows 7.

Oh I see.. Well I have a dinosaur computer and have Windows XP maybe that's why?

Hello all, I'm new to minecraft since I purchased it yesterday night. I want to install a map into the game, and to install it it says I have to drag a specific file to another file called "Roaming" I have the "%appdata%" file, but not the roaming file, is it something to be downloaded, or what? I would be very grateful to anyone who can help :biggrin.gif:
