From what I can tell, this looks like a problem with XP SP3.

I'd reccomend http://www.minecraft...-changer-135-1/ as a completely legal and hassle-free way to downgrade to any version you wish, down to Alpha 1.0.4. It also includes an early version of indev, and the final version of infdev. Distributing minecraft.jar or any of its contents makes you a possible (though extremely unlikely) victim of a lawsuit from Mojang, which is why that's against the forum rules.

As a general rule of thumb though, wait about 2 weeks until after an update has been released to upgrade so mods can update and all the major game-breaking bugs get a chance to get ironed out.

I see this so many times every day, it's not even funny. One look at the last 10 or so pages of the Aether thread, you'll see what I mean.

Changed my sig to reflect my feelings on this 'upgrade'.

It is illegal to distribiute minecraft.jar files and anyone who does so could (although not likely they would) face a lawsuit. I'd reccomend http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/877629-mvc-minecraft-version-changer-135/, as it is much more user friendly and easier to use then MCNostalgia.

Why did you stop using Mediafire?

Slow-loading should not be a problem for me, yet it is.

I agree with everything posted above, and I didn't realize the mods were so childish as to delete any posts containing criticism.

Are you trying to give Minecraft all of your RAM and/or leaving less then 1GB for your comp to function? 4GB is completely unnecessary, 2GB is more then enough.

They are supported, just not without the use of mods/external programs (MCEdit anyone?). (spawners other then spider, skeleton, zombie, forgot to quote.)

Notch has been taking measures against mob traps since at least early Beta. So yeah, you're about a year late on this.
