posted a message on My Mods in Vanilla did not work

So, I am running Vanilla 1.9.4 Minecraft. I wanted to try some mods so I downloaded some 1.9.4 mods and created a mods folder in my windows folder

    C:\Users\myname\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\mods

I put the 4 mods in there. At first it would not run until I removed BiomesoPlenty, but then it ran.

When I tried the keys that correspond to the mods it did not run the mod.

For example I installed journeymap-1.9.4-5.2.3-unlimited but when I selected the "j" key the map did not show.

Bottom line, what did I do wrong ?

    Quote from Dragonlord9085»

I used to love playing minecraft all day. But recently I've been unable to play because the amount of lag i was experiencing. All I can do now is just stand in one spot and not do a damn thing. Such a shame Mojang decided to ruin a perfectly good game for me.

    Describe your system to us.
    How much RAM
    What CPU
    Video card

That will help us figure out your lag.

I doubt it's Mojang causing your issues

posted a message on Can Attack of the B-Team be run as a server ?

I use my home linux server for when my friends and kids come for a visit. We have Minecraft parties. I have served out Hexxit and some other variations of MC by adding my own selection of Mods.

I loaded Attack of the B-Team at home using the Technic Launcher and it all runs fine.

Is it possible to run a server of this modpack on my home linux server.

I am having trouble finding a B-Team download zip file.

Back in 2014 you used to be able to go to technicpack.net and B-Team was available as a single zip download, but now it requires using the Technic launcher, and I don't see a server option.

    Any help would be appreciated.

posted a message on Mod Pack recommendations for kids

Thanks Block and Creeper. I downloaded FTB Infinity and Attack of B-Team and will check them out.

Are there any mod packs that have cartoon-like mobs that don't scare little ones ?

They like Pokemon and I saw a Pixelmon pack. Have either of you tried that ?

posted a message on Mod Pack recommendations for kids

I run a vanilla MC server for when my kids/grandkids come to visit.

I would like to try a modpack so they can enjoy more biomes / plants /animals etc without too many scary creatures ( as my granddaughter describes zombies and creepers). Just a fun world to explore, farm, and build stuff.

Can anyone offer some modpack ideas that meet that criteria?

    Thanks

posted a message on Adventures ?
    Quote from Fernz232»

They are likely talking about an adventure map! An adventure map is a minecraft world created with an objective like solving all the puzzles, doing parkour, or even fighting a custom made boss! There is a website right here that has tons of adventure maps! Also right here is a Youtube video teaching you how to install those maps into your minecraft game. It says for 1.8 but it works for all versions of minecraft, even 1.10. I hope this helps you :)

Thank you. That is what I wanted to know. Does the map then tell you what you are expected to solve, with signs ?
    Also, what is parkour ?

What are Minecraft adventures? I am playing survival with my grandkids and they mentioned Adventures.

I run a server on my home network for when the kids come to visit. How do I change it from a survival server to adventure?

The truth is if you want maximum efficiancy it's good to build your mob farm 100+ blocks above the surface so you leave just your spawning platforms as the only available place for hostile mobs to spawn.

That is too big a task for me in Survival mode. It took me a long time to learn how not to fall to my death when I built this one only 28 blocks high .... lol

Light can't go through solid blocks, so no. You can see the current light level on "Light" if you press F3 in-game. And what pizza_boi_2006 meant is: if your mob farm is high up in the sky, in extreme hills biomes for example above y=95 rain turns into snow and water freezes.

Thanks. I had removed the torches and I saw no difference anyway. I am getting a few spawns, but I still have way to many caves, in my area, that I need to light up and clear out so my spawn farm can produce better.

Ok, I understand now what he was talking about. My spawn area is at y=92

It'll serve you well. And so long as you planned a bit you should even be able to switch out with whatever top i3 will go into that socket come time and it'll last you another few years.

You are correct TotallyNotCarl. I already found a deal on an i5-6400 and upgraded it. I may look for a nice budget graphics card next, but the Intel HD graphics is working good for now.

Thanks person9455 - that was the solution. /op username, and editing the server.properties for command blocks. Then I could use the command "/give username minecraft:command_block 1"

posted a message on Can cheats be enabled in multiplayer after the world has been created ?

My small family server wants to experiment with command blocks for teleport portals and I can't get the command block to work.

I read, on the Wiki that I need to have cheats enabled, but I don't know how to do that in multiplayer after the world has been created.

We have been running this world for a while and the kids / grandkids wouldn't want to lose all they made by me starting a new world.

    Any help would be appreciated.

If you're going for a cheapo build or an 'only minecraft rig' you'd do better to just buy any i3 system.

Integrated graphics is more than enough.

Thanks Totally - That's what I did. Dell had some deals and I got her a i3, 8gb ram, 1tb harddrive small form factor for less than $400

It's better if you just cap it off with half slabs for a roof, if you put torches near the spawning platforms you will limit the mob spawns. Overworld hostile mobs need light level of 7 or less to spawn.

Thanks. I have removed all torches around the spawning platform.
One question though. If a torch is on the outside of the stone shaft that the mobs drop down, will that light have any effect at all ?

    thing to make sure of:

The water isnt freezing into ice

    the chunks are loaded.

    the mobs are dying

If the water is freezing, either move the drops farm to a warmer biome (Flower Forest, Desert, Mesa) or put torches near the water sources.

To make sure that the chunks are loaded just stay in the area and make shure that you can see the spawning platform.

When i first made this spider kept on climbing doen to attack me, but there are many ways to stop this. Pistons, gaps, and cactus can all work if you use them properly.

I am not sure why you are commenting on ice. I am not in a biome that can freeze, so that is not an issue. I am still new to this game so I have no idea what you mean about "chunks are loaded" .
