I'm glad everyone's relieved this isn't planned for the Java edition of Minecraft, but do expect there to be less mods being worked on for the pc version in future. I would expect a lot of mod makers will shift their attention to the paid platform where they can get a little compensation for their work. Think about it, if you were a mod maker spending countless hours modding wouldn't you prefer getting something for your efforts?
I don't plan on shifting platforms with my mods. And as for earning a living off of it I would think it's a pipe dream. Sure, some may hit it big, but by and large not enough money will be made by the average modder. It's like having a dream of being a video game programmer when in high school, and then you finally realize that you need food on the table to survive.

Wouldn't having a Bungee server add a 3rd server to the mix? Not saying this is a bad idea, just pointing the addition of another server.

Emerald rarity varies. Yes, rarer to find in the ground, but accessible via villager trading. Also the notion of "rip off" is dependent on how the player sees it. Though there are various mods out there that have emerald armor this suggestion can apply to Vanilla as well.

Emerald armor for aesthetic reasons? I can buy that. However, what I would do is allow diamond armor to be "dyed" with an emerald to give it the desired color instead of the villager trade mechanic. Of course, at this point it would be allowing diamond armor to be dyed like leather, but have the additional emerald option.
For those decrying aesthetics I have to point out that it is present throughout Minecraft. Different color wools, wood blocks, leaf color, biome color, glass color, etc. Things don't have to be in the game purely for function.
(BTW there are several mods on the modded Minecraft side of the fence that have Emerald armor and the like.)

That's fair. The electronic medium can be difficult way to convey ideas. Essentially half the conversation is missing (e.g. body language, tone, etc.). It's even more difficult when trying to respectfully disagree or to influence others. It takes some practice. The early days of EMAIL were interesting to say the least.

Various comments from previous posts:
There are other nits but I will skip. But honestly, you want feature designs or suggestions? A lot of times a suggestion can be comprised of a couple sentences or paragraphs. When translated into a feature design they can take up numerous pages of detail. Been there, done that, got my stock options.
I see from your bio you like drawing. If someone were to come ask you to draw something how much detail do you want them to give you about what to draw? I bet you want enough for an idea and then have free reign as to the detail, and maybe tweak as you go along. There may be some discussion about some things, perhaps style of clothing, types of trees, etc. But when it comes down to the detail work you want to tackle that yourself because you know what you are doing. Writing software and defining features is about like that.

I never said anything about a physical image. I question whether folks are looking at this as a suggestion or wanting a feature design. They are two distinctly different things. Furthermore, a lot of the criticism that is being handed out in this thread subjective. To be fair a lot of criticism is subjective. But there is thing called constructive criticism and I find that this thread lacks that. Of course, that is my opinion based on my years of experience.

You want suggestions or feature design? Personally as a developer I see a lot that he has provided. Not saying all the information that was provided is strong, but it is enough.
This thread is starting to remind me of homeowners associations...

I didn't have a problem with what you posted. I understood what you were getting at. It seems like some of the forums members want feature designs not suggestions.

Yep, understood what you were getting at.
Since you mentioned this is the first time over on the MC side of the fence have you considered modded Minecraft? Reason I ask is that there are several mods that make use of the ocean environment. The one I like is Mariculture Deluxe. Corals, clams you can get pearls from, fish you can get from the ocean, diving suits, etc.

To be fair they did mention whales and corals.
I also think Minecraft Oceans are too vast with little content. It's like looking out on a very blank canvas. I agree there needs to be more life in the oceans. Corals, kelp, fish (both ambient and mob - you know, sharks and things with flashy teeth), etc. Maybe add in some unique decorative blocks that can be found in oceans - new sandstones of different colors perhaps. And I would like to see heat vents around lava sources (underground), and maybe locations of air pockets like WoW had.

Not too shabby. What shader pack are you using?

GrowthCraft Community Edition
I link it here for those that do modded Minecraft and want the grape experience.
Personally, I like the idea of grapes, or more specifically world gen and the opportunity to decorate with grape plants.

Actually "Minecraft" is multi-threaded, but not the way folks are tossing the word around.
