I dislike redundant threads. There are also some community issues but I won't get into that.
Like Orc said, there isn't really anything moderators or admins can do to fully stop my certain dislikes but I enjoy this forum regardless.

If they smile at me, I immediately assume they're from the future, know something I don't, or are potentially tracking, plotting / thinking something. -

Beltir posted a message on Applying to be a moderatorFrom a former admin, this is a simple version of what I looked at:Posted in: Forum Discussion & Info
Activity. I didn't want someone that signs in once a month, and personally I didn't want someone inactive in my section (Mapping and Modding), but if I found someone that applied to MM but was active in Game Modes or Minecraft General, I'd recommend them to the appropriate admin so a good person didn't potentially get overlooked.
Posts themselves I looked for someone that as 1) helpful 2) nice 3) respectful 4) on topic. Not every post needed perfection, you didn't have to help on every post you made, or if you had a few posts that were slightly off topic or something I didn't mind that either. Posts also didn't need to be long. A 1 line post that was relevant/helpful was just as good to me as a paragraph.
The application mainly gave me needed information specific to being a moderator:
Intent. I wanted people who were in it to help others, and why in their own words they thought they should be hired. A lot of time is sacrificed as a moderator, and for no real gain. You clean up the forums, and get a mixture of hate and love from it.
Time: Lets us know when to expect you online and for how long. If we have a gap, we try to fill it while still getting more mods for times we are okay for. This is much less of a problem now with the new system than it was a year ago, but it still helps us schedule training and see what times we still needed more mods in, so we could focus more on those.
Experience: We just liked to know if you're coming in with any previous knowledge. Not having past experience wont hurt your chances any. I started out with no past experience and through my work and dedication I had become an admin very quickly, so experience not necessary.
Of course, there was other things I looked at too, and a lot of things relied on my subjective judgement. If you are denied, try to figure out why on your own. If you can figure out why, and change yourself for the better, that looks good to us that you can fairly critique yourself and improve on your own.
Post count, reputation, age... none of those matter too much. We've hired someone that was 12 before, one of my mods started with <50 posts, and I couldn't even tell you my own reputation without checking it right now, much less any of the people I hired.
This turned out much longer than I intended, but hopefully this answers any concerns. -

It's kinda dying out, seeing as how Joj isn't as active anymore, 'cause he's a mod and therefore no longer cares about us.
Whaaaaaat.

If you think that is mean, you might want to stay away from the General Off-Topic section.
But, I digress.
1. If you go to know what a section is used for, say Forum Discussion & Info, look under the name in the Forum tab: Discussion and suggestions to the main forum and site, also solutions to any forum problems you may be having.
2. If you want to know how to download mod/install them, then look in the thread, there should be instructions. If there aren't, the mod probably isn't worth downloading. Same for the skins.
3. For the server things, try the Server Administration or Minecraft Server Hosting sections. Sorry, I don't do much with servers.
4. If you want to make a map with someone try the Looking For or Maps sections, depends on what you are wanting them to do. If you want them to do exactly as you say, then go to the Looking For section and tell them you need builders. If you want someone to collaborate with, then go to the Maps section and tell them that.
5. Read the rules. Also any other forum/section specific rules (seen at the top when you enter the section).
Any other questions?
