    Quote from BrokenEye

Minecraft is obviously the aftermath of a civilization obliterating global magical war, after nature has reclaimed what was once the crumbling ruins of man's mighty cities, leaving only the occasional decrepit "dungeon" and derelict mines buried far under the earth. Zombies, skellies, and Steve are all that're left of mankind. Creepers are genetically engineered weapons gone feral. Netherportals were a failed attempt to weaponize Hell itself.

Since the later 1.9 Pres I thought of something along the lines of that, also. I figured that there was a sort of a race of people that came before the Testificates, who were a race of mages/scientists (If you're a TES fan, think the Dwemer near the end of their known existence) at constant war with their creations. Perhaps they'd already ventured into the Nether, leaving behind their ruins and evidence of their knowledge of Alchemy, and the End was a product of their own design that backfired on them, transforming them into a race of trans-dimensional beasts (The noises the Endermen make are actually warped voices, look it up). If you think about it, Steve does seem to know an awful lot about their constructs, so it's entirely possible that Steve was the lone survivor of the disaster that obliterated his race. Further expanding on the idea of the End being a creation, the Enderdragon could be the accidental product of experimentation in altering spacetime to create an artificial dimension (This can be backed up by the fact that the End terminates; it is finite, and thus could be the first in what was to be a line of experiments in creating dimensions for free use). Noticing their failure, they attempted to shut down their connections to the End, after putting in place towers to keep the Dragon fed (Or something along the lines of fed or bound), as to keep it from venturing into other realms. The power of the dragon proved too much, and let's say that the overexposure to the dimension itself corrupted and twisted the Endermen into the vile creatures you encounter in your adventures. It makes sense, seeing as how the race is part of the dimension, and thus their essence may be required to venture back to it through their portals with the lack of their original way of entering it. Instead of being transformed, Steve is taken to a random location within the world, with all of his knowledge of his race's creations, and sets out by himself to, once and for all, put the world-destroying threat of this extra dimension to rest. Some of the smaller, fill-in-the-cracks details are fairly obvious (Such as the bareness and lacklusterness of the End being due to the fact that it's a new and experimental creation.), so I left them out as this wall of text is large enough as it is.

    I love lore speculation. :3

Tl;Dr: I have too much time on my hands, and no life whatsoever.

    Yes they do.

Dammit, why is it that they keep getting more and more horrifying every time there's a discussion of them?

This was more half-baked lore than a suggestion. And what was with the random Law of Motion in there, am I the only one that caught that...?

What of, instead of pockets, Metamorphic rock would generate around lava lakes (And therefore function as an indicator), Igneous rock would make up most of the underground layer and mountains, and sedimentary would form in pockets, on the surface, and in the oceans to emulate real-world geology?

Nevermind. Found what kind of stone it was, and I only had to boat across an ocean for it. :D

If this is the case, then I'm using all of the wrong smoothstone. I've used Marble, Siltstone, Basalt, Siltstone, and Diorite, What kind is it? I seriously don't feel like tunneling for useless stone for another goddamn half-hour.

Try and try as I might, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to make bricks. I've tried nearly everything and have used smoothstone. Same goes for the anvil- I just cannot figure it out. Nothing at all works. (I even tried to get Risugami's recipe book mod but the items crash my game when I put me mouse on them.) Anybody know how? ><

Um, 80 dollars for a GT 520? Those things cost 40-50.

I'm sorry to say this, but you got ripped off. And Video memory does not really matter because I suppose you're not having a 2-way monitor setup. And 80FPS in skyrim? that's hard to believe.

Unless you have a low monitor resolution.

Yeah, the default is 1920x1080, forgot that I turned it down. the price thing isn't that much of a deal at this point- not going to take it out. Thanks for the input, though.

I'm not very savvy when it comes to the actual crap that goes into a computer, so I was curious as to if this was a good decision for a Graphics Card. I got it for a relatively cheap price (~$80) and I can run things pretty smoothly (About 70-100 FPS on Minecraft and ~80 on games like Skyrim), but I was just wondering if I could've done better. I appreciate any feedback (If you're going to use technical terms, dumb it down just a tad.). Thanks!

(A side note: The website says that the card has 1024 MG of Video Memory, but mine has 2048. )

I apologize if I sound like an idiot or something, because I almost certainly am.

I'd like to see a clock be apart of a recipe to turn it into a block that would give out a redstone signal in day and none at night. Other ideas would also be pretty cool.

You can already create a day/night sensor using a villager, albeit it's difficult.
