haha. funny this thread went up. I recently put up a ChefCraft thread that I am periodically updating with ideas (1 or two as i get time) and one idea I hade was a cooking/food preparing box that had 2 output slots for cooking like if you use milk or whatnot in cooking.

if they only do a 1/2 hurt of damage and can't be thrown very far (1/2 as far as bows?) then they are balanced, they do no knockback and are made out of smooth stone to get 2.

    THIS IS POSSIBLE.

SnowBreak plugin to get snowballs, WorldEdit to cover the area with snow again in one command //snow 100

thanks you so much. I will be checking this out.

1 more note about admins: they will have to make sure no one is using dirt.

This is good, but NO food should be stackable. Also, add omelets, ovens, toasters, berries, jam, etc... There are so many different possible foods it's going to be hard to explain them all.
    Toaster + Bread = Toast
The grid filled up with berries = Jam + Toast = Better toast?

i agree no food should be stackable and great ideas. will add some of them in the next update.

so we have farmcraft forums. oceancraft threads. why not one for cooking.

I am just posting my first idea for now, bit I will flesh this out more later, I promise.
(Ok, I have been updating, but remember, any establishing of symbols for elements I don't have a pic for will change per example, as denoted by the dashed lines.)
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Sandwiches:
    ( :////: =bread, :Diamond: = cooked fish)
    Both
    [] :////: []
    [] :Bacon: []
    [] :////: []
    and
    [] :////: []
    [] :Diamond: []
    [] :////: []

should make a sandwich that heals 5 hurts. this would greatly increase the value of bread as right now it is kinda lame and also would give a more compact way of storing food, which isn't stackable.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Cake:

    another use for wheat.
( :Furnace: = milk pail, :Portabella: = Egg)

    [] [] []
    [] [] []
    :////: :Furnace: :Portabella:

Works in any horizontal order and creates a food that has durability, 4 uses, maybe that heals 2 hurts a piece. I know this is already a concept and this is just my input on the matter.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Cheese Cloth:
This would have many uses, as explained later.
( :|: = String, :Blue: = Gathered Water Bucket, :Water: = Pure Water, :sponge: = Cheese, :Furnace: = Milk Bucket, :Grey: = Cheese Cloth, :White: = Wool)
First, it is crafted like this:
    :White: :|: :White:
    :|: :White: :|: = :Grey:
    :White: :|: :White:

Cheese cloth is a sheet of loose-nit cloth for making cheese, or can double as a filter.

One use would be making pure water:
    [] [] []
    [] :Blue: [] = :Water:
    [] :Grey: []

Dumping out pure water would create dirty water source blocks, as when it touches the ground again it would be dirty.

Also, it would be a part of making cheese (cheese is created using cheesecloth, duh)
    [] [] []
    [] :Furnace: [] = :sponge:
    [] :White: []

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Oven:

counter-top oven combo crafted like this
:stone: :stone: :stone: <-- Counter Top
:cobblestone: :Glass: :cobblestone: <-- Oven Door
    :cobblestone: :cobblestone: :cobblestone: <---Oven Bottom

It would have a 3x3 square inside it and a fuel slot with 2 resultant slots.

The top slot would be the product slot and the bottom slot would be for by-products. This give a 2-part advantage to chefs:
    1. You don't have to assemble your component in the workbench then cook it in the furnace
    2. You are able to collect By-products after cooking that you loose to the flames in the furnace.
NOTE: in the following example I use a revised version of Bread Making
    ( :Water: = purewaterbucket, :sponge: = dough, :Bacon: = Bread, :_: = Bucket)
i.e. Normally, I want to make some bread, which requires:
    [] [] []
    [] [] [] = :sponge:
    :////: :Water: :////:
You do that in your workbench then go to your furnace
    :sponge:
    :VV: --> :Bacon:
    :Coal:
and you get your bread, you have lost your bucket and you took more time then if you had
    [] [] []
    [] [] [] --> :Bacon:
    :////: :Water: :////: --> :_:
    :VV: :VV: :VV:
    :Coal:
it only took 1 step and let you keep your bucket.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(I would do bread here but it is completely covered in above)
    Bacon:
    ( :Portabella: = Grease)
    This is in an oven:
    [] [] []
    [] [] [] --> :Bacon:
    [] [] :Ham: --> :Portabella:
    :VV: :VV: :VV:
    :Coal:
Grease can then be used as a fuel for many things. (Again, you loose the grease in the flames when you use a furnace)
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I will update this thread frequently with new Ideas, i just don't have the time to post them all right now. feel free to post suggestions while you wait.

the shovels would have no durability.

also. I was definitely considering hills but was afraid people would dig into them and do earth forts, which I disliked, but low hills would work out great and there should most definitely be a frozen lake. Now how to get Christmas trees...

For anyone questioning about admin: admins would be in charge of keeping the peace in this friendly atmosphere, they would have on golden helmets (the only armor in the game, unless of course we decided to go with an idea i had (see below)) and it would be against the rules to attack an admin and if they wanted to play they would simply have to take off the helmet and join a team. they (maybe) would have the ability to spawn snow if we don't come up with a mod to replenish it automatically.

IDEA: there would be 4 teams that are divided by color. brown team - all in leather. Yellow Team - all in gold. Blue Team - all in diamond. and grey team - all in iron. you would get assigned to a team so everyone doesn't just choose gold or diamond. also armor would provide no protection. then 'team leaders' on each team would receive a helmet, no one else will. we would have to come up with a different way to pick out admins.

OK, so I have a pretty cool idea about a nice Christmas event to make a minecraft server for but I will need some help from people who have experience in the server ways.

We will need a couple of mods and here is my plan:

We make ourselves a nice flat map covered in snow and give each player a shovel. players are divided into 3 teams (possible?) and they have to break the snow to collect snowballs. snowballs can be used to make snow blocks to make snow forts a mod will make snowballs do a 1/2 heart of damage and we all just have a big snowball war! sounds fun right?

Plus I would need admins to help me go around and replace snow as it is depleted, as it doesn't naturally replicate (or maybe a mod for that?) I also could help if we needed a custom mod as I have (small) experience in coding.

Post with advice, tips, or if you have interest, because I might not do it if no one seems to care and it will be me and 1 friend alone on the server.
[] - support the snow effort!
