Okay the sprinkler saga continues. Here are some more pictures:

    Overhead view of the setup

500 kPa in the block next to the sprinkler head, you can see the sprinkler head block is empty.

Mouseover sprinkler head, instant water, 130 kPa

So I completely redid the setup. There are now 4 steam engines going into 4:1 gearboxes set to speed producing the 2048 rads and 8Nm torque, each attached to a pump which has a direct line to a reservoir. The steam engines draw their water from a separate system so they're not a drain on the water pressure. I stopped trying to feed two sprinklers while sorting this out, in the second picture you can see the only outlet for all that water, a single sprinkler. The block before the sprinkler has nearly 500 kPa sitting in it, and yet the one connected to the sprinkler is sitting empty. The second I mouse over the empty block, away it goes.

At this point I think I'm thinking I should just be giving up on making the sprinkler work.

I don't know what you mean here, or rather I don't understand what you're trying to do with the BC flood gate. You're trying to make an artificial pool of water? Or did you mean to say that your 3x3 water source has a BC flood gate backup? Normally a 3x3 source don't need a backup as it is impervious to tick lag or anything that could destroy the source, notwithstanding you or an agent of "God." If pumping from a 3x3 source, your pump needs to be above the center of the area. When the pump is working, it actually destroys a source block within the area below it. It is different from a BC type pump as it does not have a nozzle that extends down so it will stop pumping if the sources are not renewable.

The latter - I've found my 3x3 pool empty with the pump centered above it before so have added the BC flood gate along one edge of the pool to ensure that water blocks are always replenished. I know that 3x3 is supposed to be fine, but especially at 1 tick operation speed the pump has emptied my water source more than once.

V25z is no longer supported. Maybe you should go to V2 for 1.7.10?

As for pump, the most you can push it is 2048 rad/s at 4Nm as increasing the speed above that does not do anything. There is a set of ifs in the code but it doesn't do what Reika thinks it is suppose to do or he meant to leave it like that. As for getting insufficient pressure, you can get a bit better pressure by pumping to a reservoir, then take the output from the reservoir. If you have multiple pumps feeding a reservoir, you should get more pressure closer to the reservoir since it has more volume to generate the pressure in the pipe, hence faster flow.

As for pressure loss, it shouldn't be more than 5000 Pa per meter, if it is more than that then you have insufficient volume at the source. The sprinkler that you are trying to power should do fine with just two pumps giving it water. You should see about 150 KPa in the section of pipe connecting to the sprinkler and that is normal since it is consuming water.

As for pipe pump, it is tricky to use right. The amount of liquid it moves is {(rad/s)/4} mB/tick. It is meant to re-pressurize the pipe if the distance is too long from the source. I normally do not use too much piping as I prefer to transport long distance via ender tanks.

I don't know what you mean about steam engine not interacting with the pipe. Are you using RotaryCraft steam engine? Tried break and replacing the pipe?

I understand that development has moved on, I'm not really looking for bug fixes just an explanation as to what I'm doing wrong or whether I am encountering a bug. We've got quite a few hours sunk into this 1.6.4 server, when we're finally ready to give up on this world we'll be updating to 1.7.10 (or even 1.8 if development has moved that way).

Okay, so I'm definitely not under powering the pump, that's good to know. I'll try using a reservoir and see how that impacts things.

In terms of insufficient volume at the source, I'm pumping out of a 3x3 area of water which is backup-replenished by a BC flood gate. The pumps internal tanks always float at ~20 buckets, that seems like enough to me but I could be misinterpreting things?

I'm going to play with a reservoir and stacking a couple more pumps on here, thank you for the feedback.

Secondly, and maybe related to the above issue, I can't seem to make my sprinklers work properly since going to v25z. Things seemed fine in v19, but since the upgrade it seems as though if I'm not looking at the hose connected to the sprinkler (ie: crosshair on it), then the sprinkler only functions sporadically. Yes, I'm not kidding, when I look at the pipe, things seem to get better. I've torn everything down and laid it out again, I've upgraded the input to 2kNm and 8 megawatts of power (Level 4 magnetostatic), and I can't keep this silly sprinkler going. Here's some screenshots:

Any chance of getting some insight on what's going on here? I've been hunting around trying to find an explanation, but it is rare that people mention precisely what version they're playing on when making youtube videos and the like so being sure the information I'm seeing is accurate is difficult. What I have come across is multiple people powering their sprinklers with DC engines, which is ultra frustrating considering I've got a T4 magnetostatic on my pump and it apparently isn't up to the task.

Am I using a bad combination of speed/torque? Speed changes the pump's operation speed, but I've seen no benefit of adding more torque beyond the minimum. I'm seemingly unable to produce more than 630-ish kilopascals at the pump no matter how much torque/speed I give it - even in a creative world with unlimited power coil. Losing approximately 80kPa per pipe section means the sprinkler a mere 8 pipe blocks away is not receiving enough pressure, even though when it IS running the angular transducer says its range is 8 meters. That would be an obvious problem if it weren't for me being unable to get any more pressure out of a pump. So add more pumps? No difference. 3 pumps one one pipe section still maxes out at 670-ish kPa. Multiple pumps along a line of pipe each produce 670-ish kPa in their section, but by the time it reaches the sprinkler it's still ~100kPa and sputtering out.

So I come across the pipe pump. Great, re-pressurize the line at an intermediary point, but this needs 4krads which means at least a steam engine, which would be awesome because you've got water right there! But the steam engine doesn't seem to interact with rotarycraft pipes! Arg!

I'm out of ideas. Is running a sprinkler supposed to be this hard? I feel like I'm being really dumb and missing something obvious, but I've tried this in my survival game and in a new creative world and nothing works. Apologies for the novella, I'm frustrated trying to figure this out.

It's a 2.5% chance for Tungsten Flakes from each Iron Ore Solution, so that seems about right. However, the disappearing ingots is certainly not intended. How were you feeding in the flakes initially?

Okay, I'm a moron, it's been so long since I've interacted with vanilla machines that I'd attached an ME import bus to the top of the furnace to extract the completed ore. Of course, that pulled from the top slot rather than from the output. So ignore that comment, it's just me being dumb!

Edit: So along the Tungsten lines - is the black "regular" Tungsten meant to be ore dictionaried with grey sintered tungsten? I know they're obtained in different ways, but it seems like you can't actually do anything with the black tungsten.

Loving RotaryCraft/ReactorCraft, playing in Monster 1.1.1 upgraded to v25z. I have a couple weird problems. The first is this message spammed in the console:

Saw this mentioned further back in the thread but there was apparently never a resolution to it.

Finally, a random question about Tungsten and Sintered Tungsten. I ran a bunch of stacks of Iron Ore through the Extractor, and I got almost 1400 iron flakes and 23 Tungsten flakes. Is that right? Then, I heated up a furnace with a friction heater to 1400 degrees and fed it the 23 tungsten flakes, and got 1 tungsten back. I gave myself more tungsten flakes and fed them in individually and more consistently got 1 sintered ingot for each flake, but still lost some flakes to nothingness. For something that seems to have such a low rate from Iron Ore extraction, does it need a second sink when being smelted? Or is something going wrong here? I have the dumb, ME interface attached to wrong face of vanilla machine!

    Thanks!

What block that make XP orbs?

At the very least Mimicite from Mimicry and Calcite from ReactorCraft are spawning XP orbs.

I'm running 1.5.7.7 on 1.6.4. It seems like the QuarryPlus is generating XP orbs as it mines, which ends up leaving massive amounts of entities in the world, especially if you're mining a 256x256 quarry. Any chance of getting this fixed?
