I don't even think that is considered a response really.. I'm still waiting on a more official one.
You're waiting on a more official response than Notch himself? Good luck with that.
That's the exact ****ing point. Wow. Are people retarded? Can you not read?

Firstly, insulting the customers is only further reinforcing what I said about pathetic excuses for customer service. If a customer is unhappy with a service, calling them "a tantrum" is grossly unprofessional.
You do realize that this is a public forum and is not associated with Notch or Mojang or Minecraft, right? I suppose you'd call Microsoft technical support bad after asking a random person on the street why your computer isn't working?
This isn't customer service, this is random people on the internet who try to solve problems. If you would like official support, you can feel free to contact [email protected], or contact @Notch on twitter.
Firstly, it says right on the very website itself that NOTCH READS THIS FORUM.
Secondly, I initially started the thread just to ask if you can do it. Then I kept on it just as a means to talk about any progress or responses about the issue.
I obviously realize this is not customer service for Mojang Specifications. It's a matter of gathering information from others about any progress about the issue. Not to forget that it says, right on the main website, that Notch does read this forum. (In case you're stupid enough to forget where that is: http://minecraft.net/community.jsp )
Furthermore, if you did read the damn thread you would have seen that I, not only emailed that email (several times), but also twittered him, and sent email to his personal email.
**** sakes, learn to read before lecturing people. Stupid.
EDIT: And as to your point about steam, let me quote, word for word, steam's customer support (emphasis mine):
Quote from Steam Support »
CAN MY NUMERIC STEAMID AND/OR STEAM ACCOUNT NAME BE CHANGED? Your numeric SteamID and Steam Account Name can not be changed. Your Steam Community ID can be changed at any time in your Steam Community settings, under "Edit my SteamID page".
On Steam, you have two names. Account name, and Community ID. Their system is set up to have both. your account name is locked forever, and your display name is not.
So then you understand how easy this could be to change.. If this simple were to be implemented, it would rectify this issue. You're completely right about what you're saying, I mentioned it only as a retort that "most companies do not offer it" which is very wrong.
Minecraft, on the other hand, is not set up with two different names Thus, it is not possible at this time, but may be possible in the future, to change your account name. Now sit down, and be patient.
Now that's fine. I've been patient since August. I think it is a little acceptable to be slightly irritated when people keep harping on ME when I HAVE been patient for MONTHS with NO RESPONSE.
The answer was not "No, it's not going to happen"
The answer was "It's not possible at this time," which sounds to me like they're working on it.
I don't even think that is considered a response really.. I'm still waiting on a more official one.
If it's not possible, it's not possible. Stop throwing a tantrum. Pretty much every game in the world forbids changing your account name, and there's a reason for it. It's an incredibly complex thing to do. The fact that Notch is even considering it is astounding.
Firstly, insulting the customers is only further reinforcing what I said about pathetic excuses for customer service. If a customer is unhappy with a service, calling them "a tantrum" is grossly unprofessional.
Pretty much every game forbids account name change? Have you ever played Steam? You know, the biggest online game distributor.. yeah, it does this service for you, and it's really easy. So please stop trying to edify Notch for this sorry customer service.
That's a sorry response and doesn't resolve any issue at all. The fact is people are asking for a name change.

And the response is "We can't do that, you won't be able to play."
So no, it's not possible.
Like I said, that's a sorry response for something so menial and yet demanded by so many. Simply saying, "No, it's not going to happen" is an undeniably pathetic excuse for customer service, regardless of size or status of the company.
This thread has the most views in the current support forum and yet no response. I have been trying to reach Notch and crew since the beginning of September and not even a remote response.

Session Ident: Notch
[06] <GreyVulpine> Notch - Are you able to change people's nicknames? I've been helping out in #MineCraftHelp, and have had that issue come up a few times. I just pointed them to [email protected].
[06] <Notch> unfortunately not right now.. We lose track of the purchase information when we do, and that's gotten us into trouble a few times
[06] <GreyVulpine> Ah, thank you. I'll pass that along if it comes up again.
[06] <Notch> thank you

Looks like a response to me.

Did this already and still been waiting. I've actually emailed every available email that I could find, tweet, and private message. I don't consider this a fault on my end or incompetence on where to find the proper support - it's just a lack thereof (which is claimed on the site, I know). However, I think there ought to at least be a disclaimer explaining the usage of the name in addition to support for those already in this position considering I now know I am not the only one, by any length, with this very same issue. It's a simple name change - not anything drastic by any means.
Upon registering, I wasn't aware that the username would be used in game. Unfortunately, I put my actual name. I really don't want this to be made public in multiplayer and would much rather a pseudonym. Is there anyway we can change our minecraft names?

That's a silly idea. Plus, response time on refunds is also significantly slow if at all. This shouldn't be a big isse at all.
