posted a message on Endermans Weakness
Their only weakness is water but they'll immediately teleport (well usually) when in water.

Fastest way to kill them is just get the best sword you can. If you want to farm them, the fastest way is to go to The End, make a platform 3 blocks high off the ground (so your player can just stand under it, endermen are too tall) hide under it and aggro as many as you can and just swing away until they die.
Well, fastest without a enderman mob farm obviously.

Why GubleCraft: Looks like a nice, simple server, which is extremely difficult to find these days. The maturity requirement is a bonus though. Not much else to say really, this server just fits what i've been searching for for ages.
    Any friends on GubleCraft? Nope

posted a message on Nice, simple vanillaish server (can have plugins)
I've been out of the MC loop forever. I thought maybe it was a lack of content, but when I tried to get into FTB I just got bored. I think I just need something nice and simple where I can mine some stuff, kill some stuff and build some stuff...as minecraft intended.

    Anyway, what i'm looking for:

Been watching a lot of Mindcrack videos, and No HP Regen would be a huge bonus...I hate HP regen in current MC.
EDIT: Oh its a UHC mod or whatever. Well i'm okay with that and quite like the idea of it.

But other than that, I don't really want a server stuffed with crap like FTB.

Just a survival server. No objectives. Like I said I just want to mine, kill and build. Oh and socialize eventually, though I usually start out pretty silent.

Plugins are fine, I do love me some plugins.

A limit on how much people can teleport would be nice, so there's actually risk in mining deep because you can't just TP out of it...but most servers have /home or /spawn so I guess its a lot to ask, but would be nice.

Not a billion people with no real community

Nice admins and mods. I'm somewhat opinionated so a hard ass authority figure will likely ban me, haha.

No tolerance for item spawning, hacked clients, etc. I hate all the stupid crap people use...super jump, wall climbing, it all just ruins the experience. I hate seeing people doing that. Everything legit. (a spawned spawn town or something is fine...but I mean no active item spawning or item giveouts)

No stupid donates. Some servers give some ridiculous stuff to people for donating. If I like a server, i'l likely to donate since I have money to spare, so i'm not coming at this from an "unfair advantage" thing. It ties in to my "no spawned stuff" preference.

EDIT: I forgot one important thing, and that is that I hate constant map resets. I understand them sometimes, but i'm not one of those people who enjoys starting over every month. I don't have time for that, I have a job so I don't have tens of hours a day to spend constantly getting my stuff back.

Pretty extensive list I know, but if you can manage to trudge through it, that's what i'm looking for.
If your server conflicts with some stuff, just be open about it and i'll see if its okay.
Oh and if you could post the average population that'd be nice (just mention your timezone and stuff)

posted a message on Looking for a host recommendation from CONSUMERS
I don't want hosts suggesting their own service. I'll simply blacklist your service and never consider it.

I want people who have an established server with a host to recommend me the host they use. Way too often do I get a host that's popular, and it sucks. They just hype themselves up and turn out to be crap. So this time, I want people who have experienced their hosts competence, to shine some light on where I should be going.

I'm not looking for much, just an incredibly stable host, good support, and i'd like a good balance between price and quality...some hosts charge waaay too much for what they offer, but others clearly don't charge enough and their service is crap.

    What I want it for:

A 15-20 man server. and I mean, it holds that many people...not "the host says it'll hold this many". Most 15-20 man servers I buy start lagging at the 15 man mark. Though if your host says 15-20, and it holds 20 without lag, then hell, tell me.

...and that's about it honestly. I don't know if it needs to be specially implemented (kind of a noob with SMP mods) but i'm looking to host a tekkit server.

posted a message on Why won't this work?! [HELP]
When I gave my server IP to a friend, he couldn't connect, and it was because I didn't have the port on the end of the IP when I linked him.
    So it should be 192.168.1.104:25565
and that should work, I assume. Worked for me anyway.

posted a message on SSP map on SMP issues
Starting to get annoyed at this. I'm new to the world of hosting a server, and so far i've been doing fine but what should be the simplest thing is giving me the most problems.

What i'm trying to do is use a specific seed for my SMP server. I finally found it while messing around with a friend yesterday after over an hour of trying to find the "perfect" map for what I wanted. (Seed: Dear You)

Problem is, in SSP it's a huge grassy plain with some mountains nearby, a forest nearby, etc. It's really nice. Especially in 1.2.3 where 9/10 maps seems to spawn in the middle of a mountainous jungle.
In SMP the exact same seed is a snowy frozen wasteland that looks like crap with holes and lava and fissures everywhere.

So the seed didn't work...k. Simple solution, copy my SSP world over to my SMP server.
    Simple right?
    Nah.
What the SMP server seems to do, is take the map and CHANGE IT to be exactly like the SMP seed generated version, instead of the original SSP seed generated version.
So I tried creating a new world and then just copying the contents of the SSP world folder into the SMP world folder. Dunno why I thought that'd change anything. It didn't. Still the same map.
I even opened the SMP map in MCEdit and it shows the SSP version and everything looks dandy. But on SMP it's the frozen freakin' wasteland.

Is the fact my server is running Bukkit 1.2.3 (DEV) got to do ANYTHING with this odd phenomenon? My client MC version is also 1.2.3 so I don't see why it'd do this.

and i'm not doing something stupid like leaving my server on when I change maps. I shut it down before deleting the map and/or replacing it.

Any ideas? or good SMP seeds for a nice plains map...

EDIT: Nevermind I found half my problem. Mojang being incompetent as usual.

"Due to popular demand, Seed info is now "0" in SMP to avoid people recreating the world in SSP."
What monkey thought that up? What an idiot.

I still don't see how this could completely mess up a map that's already generated though.

posted a message on Disable/prevent client mods?
I run a Survival server. So there's no room for idiots using client mods.
Servers auto-deal with Fly by kicking, but not with the crappy things that let people jump higher or climb walls.

Is there any way to disable these things via bukkit plugin?
I can't find anything to do so and it's annoying me.

posted a message on Good iconomy pricing model?
I'm trying to figure out a good price model what what the minerals should have as a base price
Not sure if this is the right section...

I've tried googling and searching the forum but have found NOTHING on the topic.

I sort of drew out a very quick and probably horrid model

    Redstone dust:10
    Cobble stack: 30
    Coal: 5
    Stone Stack: 75 (Cobble Stack + 8 Coal + 5 convenience = Stone Stack)
    Iron: 100
    Gold: 600
    Lapis: 100
    Diamond: 2000

My basic model was 5x less than that, but I wanted room for fluctuation, so I simply multiplied everything by 5.

Now, critiques? What should be more, what should be less, what sounds right. I haven't played minecraft in ages so I can't remember ore frequencies very well, and couldn't find much help online either.

posted a message on Seriously guys, what the ****?
I actually agree. Sifting through all the **** servers to find good ones is incredibly difficult.
    Though not impossible.
Luckily, I found a great server, too bad it's got a somewhat small population (it isn't private, it has a greylist and active people of authority, private servers are ****).

posted a message on Rant on Whitelists
    Greylist > Whitelist
Both stop griefing about as good as eachother, and greylist at least lets people look at the server first.
Hell I think it's even better, there are tons of times we (my server) catch people attempting to grief while still grey, and they get booted.

Though for most servers, greylist would be bad because their servers look like ****. I've been on a bunch of whitelisters...and yeah, sad. With greylist, most people would just find the IP, log in, log out. Whitelist is sort of a "well ****, might as well...do something." after putting in the effort to get whitelisted. But for good servers, it's a great way to do things.

However whining about whitelist is pointless. It's to stop random idiots from coming in and griefing while the server is more vulnerable (every server has a time where the population online is thin to none).
