Jun 16, 2014Omnimetatron posted a message on Mojang Announcement: EULA, and ServersI notice my question I posed to Owen regarding the enforcement of server monetisation guidelines, and how users are supposed to report servers. I guess there's time for the the iron fist to become apparent under the current velvet glove approach.Posted in: News

Dec 15, 2013Omnimetatron posted a message on Saturday with Sach: Whats In a NameOddly enough I've had the name Wilch Habos for around 17 years now, although it started as the name of a very short-lived bounty hunter in an old Star Wars PnP RPG I used to play in my teens. It's actually one of those names you get by combining parts of your own name with other details about you.Posted in: News
It's been fun reading all of the above origin stories, I guess it does tell rather a lot about people. Some definitely more amusing than others :-) -

Collective Minecraft Community unite, we have some developers to harrass Otherwise, half implemented features (miss) and much needed bug-fixes make this just about an average update. Roll on w25!!Posted in: News

Jun 2, 2012Omnimetatron posted a message on Snapshot 12w22a Ready For Testing!I still wander what is still yet to come in 1.3, I mean even if next week is the release, or in a couple of weeks, what is being added week by week as it gets closer to whatever deadline they have set. I think the modding API with mark the end of 1.3 snapshots, then we'll have a couple of weeks of cleaning the code (although that assumption is based upon pre-bukkit examples) before the stonking 1.3 release properPosted in: News

Jul 27, 2011Omnimetatron posted a message on 1.8 Updates: New Mob...Revealed?Looks kinda creepy, which I suppose it has to to fit in with zombies, skeletons, creepers, and the like. I find it strange two of them are holding blocks, stranger still that one of the blocks is grass which when mined, or blown up, whatever, always becomes dirt. As has already been observed, they probably spawn the same block on which they are stood. I guess what I'm really wondering now is what they actually do with these blocks??Posted in: News
Anyway, still looking forward to 1.8!! :smile.gif: -
Jul 21, 2011Omnimetatron posted a message on Notch Reveals Leveling and PermadeathSweet! I can't see how these additions are a bad thing, as long as they are implemented well. I mean, with these features I may not need to play any other games :tongue.gif: Anyhow, stop all your moaning about "this doesn't feel minecrafty" or whatever; the game isn't finished yet, and until it is nobody can really say what the game is or isn't (except awesome!)Posted in: News

Loving your enthusiasm on this one as usual Kholdstare. How about you wait until you've played at least one snapshot for 1.7 before passing judgement. I'm so stumped by your insistence that Minecraft needs a terrain overhaul, and that changing and adding biomes won't accomplish that. What exactly will it take to please you? I know you're not alone with your feelings toward the terrain, but I think you may be in a rapidly dwindling minority once the snapshots start coming out.

A smoother transition between biomes would be very nice, however they manage to implement it. Lets hope that's planned for 1.7.
Hmm, yes western is now definitely a theme that Minecraft can carry, even in vanilla using the default textures. The changes do mean however that old seeds are buggered again, but I tend to try a few at random when making a new world anyway. I think most of the MC vets are used to this by now.
Well, it's not a snapshot, but it's a little taster of what might be; so at least we'll have some more things to pick apart and argue about ;-)

I think we can safely say we're getting some big changes/additions to the terrain and Biomes in 1.7...

If they were to add more ores there would have to be a use for each of them. I think it was Jeb that stated he's not considering adding any more tiers of tools or weapons. So, that's out the window. Rubies won't be added back in because Dinnferbone is colour-blind, so any further ores are going to have to be erm... purple or orange; Urhhhh!
Anyway, it's difficult to say for sure what the core theme of the update will be, but we're getting changes to biomes, and a lighting fix thus far; also the added bonus of a week longer to look forward to whatever else they manage to add in that time.

That is a bloody good point. I like your way of thinking. It's all for the greater good...

Welcome to the Minecraft Forum! Clearly your posts in excess of 3000 have taught you nothing of communicating with the inhabitants of this wretched and despair-inducing website.
Again, we've reached a point where people are discussing Minecraft more than playing it, relying on websites to keep us informed of something we could spend our time testing personally.

The new changes have made the game seem very different all of a sudden, less casual than before. I guess that's the thing though, the game was always casual, even on hard; if anything Mojang are creating a greater variance in difficulty. I imagine the next update will follow on in the same vein. I guess we're just feeling the sting of these rather harsh changes because nothing has been released for a while, and the devs mustn't see the need for change as they could've released 1.6.3 to address any issues.

I've often wondered why wool blocks don't have the same texture as the wool on the sheep. I'm not saying I like the wool block texture, but some consistency would be nice, aesthetically speaking.
