I am fine with command blocks so long as they don't become that "magic block" that you go to whenever you have a problem/want to do something. I mean, come on - some idiot is going to abuse it, using a command bock anytime that he/she can.
ITT: "Stop liking what I don't like!"
Seriously. If people want to use it, they're going to use it. And now that it's even easier to make these awesome maps, the better creators are going to be able to make EVEN BETTER maps. Get over it.
ITT: Far too much whining, not enough spending their time more productively. (It's 2:07am here, and I have nothing to do tomorrow. Woo!)
I'll respect valid points, but guess what? Much like you, OP and your follows, I'm not a business manager. That is the key point here. Wether or not the servers should or should not down doesn't even matter. Servers go down, and you can't say "Most companies have IT guys!"
First of all, having worked in a few computer refurbishing buildings, I know this for a fact: Not all problems are solved immediately, not all problems are the fault of the server capacity, and I sure as hell know that none of you understand the problem solving that goes into fixing a problem. Sometimes it's corrupt code, sometimes it's a hacker, sometimes it's blown hardware.
Games have downtime, get over it. They can't just magically flip a switch and BAM, problem solved! "I worked in IT!" is not an excuse. Rather, you should be AGAINST posts like this, since you'll know my previous points. If it's down for 3 hours, it's down for 3 hours. Nothing you can do, so don't bother ing.
Minecraft has evolved, and while some people want to call us fanboys for "defending our Minegod" like a giant toolbox, we understand that there are numerous ways to play the game. MORE than there used to be. You're entitled to your view... But it's wrong. To be honest it's not even opinionated, it's just something people say when they run out of ideas, and then blame the game for their lack of creativity.
I for one have taken to building a 500x500 citadel in Technic to replace my former vanilla 139x139 castle. (It was built when build height was only 127, and not +/- 255.) I have more ideas thanks to what the game revolves around these days. Mods.
I played in 1.2 Alpha and the only thing I miss is the green grass. Not this sickly color it has now. Oh, and the lack of 50,000x50,000 oceans every 2 steps making the entire world a few large landmasses.
Okey dokey lokey, this is the most important part, you've gotta ask yourself: do you really want to keep playing Minecraft? Would it be such a bad thing if you walked away and just never came back? If the answer is no, well there it is. It's hard and painful knowing when to put something that used to be important behind you, but sometimes you just need to accept you've moved on. But if the answer is yes, you've gotta fight through and keep playing anyway! Force yourself if you have to! You don't beat a funk like this by thinking or wishing or exploring your inner feelings, those are for deciding what to do in the first place! You beat it by not letting it beat you! You'll never succeed with hesitation in your heart, so don't think, act! Don't contemplate, perceive! Do, or do not, there is no try. Stop trying to hit me and hit me! You get it?
VERY well said, sir and or madam. I was going through a fairly bad groove myself for a long time. Just couldn't get all these wicked ideas out of my head. I wanted instant gratification. But then I said to myself: "I've had enough." and I started building. I just... Built. Next thing I know, I go from not wanting to build a 500 x 500 citadel wall 150 blocks up from sea level... To starting to build what looks like something out of World of Warcraft. A giant holy building made of gold and marble in Technic.
What I'm trying to say is... The only reason I'm not playing as we speak is because for whatever reason, my PC only wants to give me 5-10 FPS right now.
The proposed solution to this non-issue would only make it worse, if it were an issue to begin with. I suggest that the OP shut the hell up and get back to sucking his daddy's ****.
Reported.
Anyway, OP. I'd just say why not have them generated with sandstone? That way if they get damaged they don't collapse. I agree with what you're saying, and I'm not going to belittle you for your input! Surprise!
I agree 100% it's ********. I also went as far as getting an enchanting mod to choose my own enchants and levels for a fair price. (Lvl.3 unbreaking, lvl.5 efficiency, fortune all for 57 levels.) Enchanting plus is a good thing for ya.

4: Beef. Steak is cool and all, but beef too, man! BURGERS!
5: Pies
6: Various pastry assortments. Maybe some doughnuts or something. Why not?

My PC specs of 3GB DDR2 ram, 1.3TB HDD, 64x Anthalon Dual-Core can just run it okay. And this PC is about 10 years old.

"Hey let's debate something entirely pointless."
Both sides have problems, and people outside either one can be stupid and/or creepy. Get over it.

They're all sickly and green. It could be they slide up the wall with their nasty-ass blisters.
... Oh the disturbing mental images.

No, 1/1,000,000. If you were getting good frames, then why are you using it in the first place?
Tl;dr: Too much code added, not enough cleaned up to keep it running smoothly.

No, that is in fact a charged creeper. It's got a glow around it. Rain doesn't encase creepers.
Hope you ran like hell, dude. I'd be doing just that.
