Ignoring > THIS < is not the solution. Just say if you are done forever with it or if you could fix this big bug for the last time. :)

I'm not ignoring anything, although I understand it may often seem like it. I check this topic (and Curse and GitHub) fairly regularly, I just don't reply unless I have something useful to say. I only have useful things to say when I actually sit down to do modding, and can look at and debug issues. That usually happens in rare but intensive bursts.

Without going into the reasons too much, the short version is this: modding is one activity among many competing for my time. I don't dare to force it either, because I know myself: if it starts feeling like work, I lose interest. So I'd rather do a bit less and keep wanting to come back - even if it's frustrating for you guys to wait for me to get my ass in gear - than do more and kill the mod. I don't know if that makes any sense to you.

As for the issue itself: I'll fix it, of course. I don't want to leave an unusable final version behind. In fact It's a good thing you bugged me about it, I have completely forgotten about this. This is actually a very good case for having issues up on GitHub - they're concentrated in a location I can just read through easily, instead of forgetting stuff that falls off the last page.

    Version 2.1.0 released (MC 1.10 & 1.10.2):

    • Korean localization
    • Config option to disable snow on extra leaves
    • Support for custom block models
    • Forestry leaves support
    • Fix: shaders see proper block IDs for connected grass and round logs

This is the future - the one BF release I'm keeping.

The defining new feature is the support for custom block models. It enabled me to add support for (non-decorative) Forestry leaves in a clean fashion, and it can be used to add support (in the config) for nonstandard grass & leaves blocks in resource packs. I'm going to write up some documentation for it in the coming days.

edit: you should delete the old config file to avoid unused options showing up.

Version 2.0.14 released (all except MC 1.10):

    • Korean localization
    • Config option to disable snow on extra leaves
    • Compatible with Vanilla Immersion (MC 1.9.4)

Just a really minor update for the MC versions in question, and the reason might break a few hearts. I'm dropping support for all MC versions before 1.10 (soon 1.10.2), so this will be the last BF release for those platforms. Maintaining 6 different releases is a big drain on my time, and since other mods supported by BF have also undergone major changes in this time, I'm having trouble keeping track of everything.

If you're still on one of these versions, you'll have to contend with the few remaining bugs. Sorry about that, try to move to 1.10.2 ASAP.

Hmmm... Let me do this in order.

As a shorthand, by "proper bug report" I mean "tell me the full modlist you use (with versions), and the resourcepack too". Any of those can be the cause of issues.

@MauveCloud: yep, it's the age-old problem with AF again. I didn't realise that might be happening in your case. I haven't been able to figure out yet why that doesn't work...

@Rainbowgal090: weird, that should be working fine. If you're still having the problem, proper bug report please.

@skyli91: same deal - proper bug report please.

You can't turn the snowed leaves off at the moment, but I'll make that an option next time.

    @jnglcrst: proper bug report please.

@GlowTimeHD: hmm, I didn't realise it was happening with 1.8 too. It must be a change in the Forge configuration handling, but I haven't been up to date with the changelogs lately. I'll fix it.

@Metromones: I'll shelf the idea for later. Right now, I can't even keep on top of issues, I'm not looking for new features to implement.

@Forstride: Sure thing, thanks for the list! I'm glad you like it.

    Version 2.0.13 released:

    • FIXED: config options not saving properly (1.9.4)
    • port to 1.10

I really hope there won't be a 1.11 in September, the community moves to 1.10 and things can calm the fk down a bit... I have 6 different BF releases atm :)

In the next month or two, I'm only doing critical bugfixes.

edit: w00t, BF is 2 years old!

    Version 2.0.12 released:

    • update to work with OptiFine H6 (all 1.8 versions)
    • port to Minecraft 1.9.4

No changes for 1.9 and 1.7.10, so no new versions there.

Sorry that things are moving so slow lately, it's a busy time. I know I have some outstanding bug reports too, please be patient.

I reported a crash between the latest preview of Optifine for 1.8.9 (pre_H6) and BetterFoliage 2.0.11 at the Optifine thread. He updated it today but the same crash still happens so I figured that means I should link here at least.

Thanks. It's easy to miss stuff on a high-traffic thread like that, and I rarely check it anyway.

Something changed in OptiFine H6 that broke my transformer - this is clearly on my side of the fence. I will hold off on the fix however until H6 goes from preview to final, because:
    • there may still be changes further down the line
    • I don't have too much time now

1.9.4 is going to happen, but I can't give you a deadline. I don't have time to devote to BF right now.

You could walk/fall straight through leaves. I would love to see this as a config option for Better Foliage because it really fits in with the idea of leaves acting a little more like leaves in reality.

I want to keep Better Foliage as a client-only cosmetic mod, so you can just slap it onto any modpack at your own discretion. Changing behaviour means serverside, unfortunately, so my answer is no.
