MizterPink posted a message on My bad experiance of multiplayerThe hardest part about playing any game in a multiplayer status is having to deal with idiots and children that have failed so miserably in life and are so insecure that they have to feed on pissing others off. It's funny to think how they all think they are clever when in all honesty they are cowards. IRL they would be eating teeth if they acted like that. And before everyone starts telling me it isn't RL your right it's not, but that is no excuse for not having manners or just a little respect for others. You find a good community and your set.Posted in: Discussion -

RyanML posted a message on Gravel in VillagesYou're all focusing on the wrong thing. Jeb has bigger tasks than contemplating what the village roads should be made of, especially considering we already have something in place with which most people are satisfied. I do agree that the villages need to be nearly flat as that is somewhat of a valid issue. Perhaps in the generation code, he should make villages only appear on already-level land and then have their presence further flatten the surrounding land so as not to be too artificial but just enough as to give a touch of intelligence and order to the community.Posted in: Discussion -

Homem_Pigman posted a message on Rest in PeaceThe old system just needed a bug fix, so putting a bed too close to a wall would let you sleep.Posted in: 1.0 Update Discussion
Now it's worse, you can just kill the nearby zombies and sleep in a dangerous area.
Plus it will never let you sleep if there's a cave below your house. -

Richard_Vaynes posted a message on Notch steps down as Minecraft lead designerIf I was in Notch's shoes, I would step down too. I say this based on personal experience. If he lost interest in the game development, why continue when others who feel more enthusiastic and motivated can take off from where he left off? I don't see anyone wanting to change too much of the game to lose that feel which inspired so many people to play to begin with. If Notch were to continue developing something he lost too much interest in, then I believe that would show with future updates.Posted in: Discussion
I build 3D Models for contract work, and some models are so elaborate I actually hate them by the time they are done. Then, the model still needs mapped, pivots and hierarchy setup. It's a huge relief when someone else can at least do the paint scheme on the model. A good paint scheme can take quite a bit of time to complete as well and is the 2nd most time consuming part of the process.
I say, good luck to Notch and thanks for creating the beginnings of a great game. -

bk201soren posted a message on Notch steps down as Minecraft lead designerWell, I'm betting Notch decided months ago he would step down because he read this section of the forum. Even just looking at the first page is enough to make any game developer quit there game.Posted in: Discussion -

Clangru posted a message on People want a new biome generator? The problem is the new generator generates very similar terrain every time, unlike pre 1.8 worlds which were usually very unique and pretty to look at too. I like the new biomes, in fact I think it wouldn't hurt to make them even bigger. The old generator was just, in general, a lot better for most people including myself.Posted in: 1.0 Update Discussion
Terrain now is to boring. -

Norsehound posted a message on Anyone use boats?Despite their fragility boats go faster than swimming and don't require continued use of the space bar :\ yeah I use boats.Posted in: Survival Mode
Instead of the epic boats in the suggestions thread I'd be happy with a little more durable of a ship with maybe a chest built into the back, or maybe a means to anchor it to a location. They're good for crossing small distances but a little more utility would be nice. -

Choobeast posted a message on So uh, what changedWhile I rather hate the attitude and tone of the OP, he is right about the number of bug fixes seeming to be small. The statement was that the game had been feature-locked until release so that they could work on bug fixes. I have certain found a number of bug fixes (animals in SMP breed properly, smiting actually gives XP now), but the fact that the first thing I ran into was a bug (double doors, one of them makes the other open then closes itself) doesn't bode well. The ending to the game is nice, but it did constitute a feature addition, which doesn't go along with the idea of feature-locked and potentially introduces new bugs.Posted in: Survival Mode
I love Minecraft and I'll continue to, and I think that some of the "bugs" listed in the OP aren't bugs so much as not the way he wants them. I just think that people need to find a happy middle-ground between "Mojang can do no wrong" and "thing isn't the way I wanted so everything sucks."
As for why you see so few positive posts, the mods keep deleting them. I've tried to post in several only to find that they don't exist anymore because they're "spam."
Edited for clarity: I understand that the feature-lock went into effect after the release candidates. -

earlchip posted a message on So uh, what changedlots of nerd rage, what a surprisePosted in: Survival Mode
It's a pretty lame release. They could have at least included something a little new or surprising. And no, they're not "doing everything they can", but they don't really have to. They've already made millions upon millions on an unfinished game. Now we see that the theoretically finished game isn't all we had hoped it to be, and some are understandably disappointed.
I am, as I feel they have yet to fix most of the major flaws of the game--and this is not exclusive to "bugs". Notch had made a lot of promising statements back then, and I feel let down. I got the game in alpha and I'm still not sure it was a good purchase.
The worst part is, I have no faith they'll introduce any game-changing updates now that it's released. This is the finished product, anything new will be fairly minor, probably similar to the prerelease updates. - To post a comment, please login.

And there are youtube vids if you really can't trust the wiki that much.
